I like me some shang tsung , but I got my fix of him in mk 9 , unless they revamp him big time im ok if he steps out for a game or two .

Until I'd heard about the GameStop ad, I thought Shang Tsung wasn't going to be a part of MKX.

So, when the GameStop ad was clarified by the devs, I went back to thinking that Shang's death in MK9 is for real.

I'd rather a tsung comeback than a new soul stealing character. I think a fireball variation would make his other two a lot more interesting. I liked him in mk9 but his emphasis should be soul stealing because it's unique to his character, him and kahn.

Yeah, pretty much this. I can't think of three variations for him no matter how hard I try. And besides, his shape-shifting abilities will always be severely limited by current hardware tech.

For me, it's his story that'd make him a waste, not his gameplay. I mean, what the fuck can Shang Tsung bring to MKX apart from being a snivelling little bitch to whoever's Emporer of Outworld? Nothing, so no thanks. Save the spot for someone else who deserves it.

Agreed. He was great in MK9, had one of the coolest game play designs, but if they don't revamp him a little I wouldn't be upset if he missed the MKX train. I'd rather see Shinnok get a chance. Shang does have a lot of cool possibilities for variations tho now that I think about it.

I also think this tweet really points more in the direction of deconfirming him, but as Demon said above, their tweets are bullshit most of the time so I'd say this doesn't set anything in stone.

I mean for me I wanted old Shang Tsung and he fullfilled my wants in that game , but what can he do story wise in the new game ? If he was present I'd like it to be a twist like a main character or villain turning into shang tsung as he walks away then the camera turns black .

Remember the time he killed Shao Kahn and Liu Kang? Or had the most self-control and did not succumb to the rage until the end in MK vs DC? Or tainted Raiden's soul when they blew up?

Hell I am tempted to put his rpg-7 toting scene from MKX with Kano becausewhile dumb, it was fucking awesome. Shang Tsung is ballin'.

Sound like they might be letting him sit out this game. It doesn't mean they are done with Shang. He might need to go away for one game and comeback. Problem with these going away for one game. We likely won't see another MK game until 2019 or 2020. Remember Boon saying during the MK9 days he didn't want to flood the market with MK games.

I hope he makes it in...... If characters like Kano and Kitana can get great variations then Shang can definitely get revamped into a great character....

And as far as story wise go...... He can always side with Earthrealm or even side with Quan Chi and then having him be the one to kill quan in the end.

Really? I think if the developers wanted him in the game, they could definitely think of 3 variations to give him.

Maybe a variation where he has more options with his fireballs, where he could zone you from the air too (like Sindel). Or he could juggle the opponent for a longer time with his up skulls and ground skulls.

Another where you maybe have the option to pick 2-3 more characters where he can morph into during the game. That way you can counter turtling players by morphing into a zoning character, or counter zoning players with an anti-zoner, or counter rush-down players with a keep-away one, etc.

And another where his soul steal could drain your health throughout the
match, kind of like Reptile's.

After all, lots of people thought Kitana wouldn't make it since it would be hard to give her 3 variations (plus she was dead), and she got a variation using Jade's moves. Does it make sense? Imo no, since not only does she have her staff & glaive but she also has a shadow kick all of a sudden. Shang Tsung could borrow another character's moves and it would make sense. He is a soul stealer. He could absorb even Shao Kahn's moves and have a variation based on that. Not saying I'd particularly like that but it would make sense for his character.

Don't dismiss any character yet...Especially due to the "Kitana incident".
