Ya i think alot of the characters that werent in mk 2011 are in the outfits they are in because they've never been seen yet in this timeline, so it makes sense they are in their "old" outfits.

The only one that's been different is Frost, but thats because lin kuei outfit in MMA would be weird lol.

I think the outfits have nothing to do with them being in MKX, think its just to familiarize us with a character we knew. so we recognize them.

Outfits mean nothing in the comic I don't see the connection to a new outfit automatically meaning they are either in or out what do people base that on? The fact that hsu hoa got killed in his old outfit??? He got killed cause he is shitty character and scorpion is a bad ass!!! I think Reiko will be in the game new costume or not his old one is fine it fits his personality and back story and makes him look awesome!!!
My question is what who will he use next to distract mileena....

Because before Kotal took Goro's arms off Reiko pretty much made it seem like Goro will betray her when she claims the throne.

He needs Mileena, and will do what he's been doing for the past 15 years and toy her along untill all his enemies are defeated first and Mileena and him take the throne.

and now his plan of making Kotal and goro go at it, forcing the Shokans to think Kotal turned on Goro, which will make them have the uprising later involving kintaro.

I didn't see a tweet about the costumes not indicating their addition to the game. It's a good theory though as I really did think that a change of costume in the comic could mean something. Because Mileena is in a new costume, yet Rain , Tsu Hao etc were in older costumes .

Reiko is becoming a really strong story driven character. Having so much potential since his back story was very vague anyway.

I wonder if we will see his shuriken attack again? Or if he ends up with brand new moves from scratch? I bet one of his variations will be based on Shao Kahn.

Reiko will get new armor from Mileena as a wedding gift ;) But I agree with whoever said his outfit is just fine, and maybe that's y there is no change.

If he makes the cut, I predict One variation will utilize the hammer, one will have his teleslam, and one will probably be Kahn-Inspired just like u suggested. A few weeks ago I made up an entire moveset for Reiko in the Variation WishList thread.

As for moves I don't know what he will have I doubt he will have the shurikens and teleport slam from MK4 remember his moves were the same as noobs in tht game as he was meant to be Noob but they worried about having too many ninjas. I think he will have more Kahn inspired moves possibly some powerful shoulder charges and grabs and definitely something with that wrath hammer

i don't think they would just get rid of the shurikens(atleast i hope not), but i hope he has the blue glow on his special attacks like he had in Armageddon

Not really, the game takes place DURING the 25 years span, starting right where MK9 left and it will show the Netherealm war (one of the reasons Sonya, Johnny and probably Kenshi are needed, as you need bodies on Earthrealm side that can be playable during that time as the others would be either revenants or not born yet/too young). We don't know if they might show first some pieces from the future and then flash back (like Cassie training and then someone explaining her what happened years ago or something), but we've been told the game jumps to different periods of time covering that 25 years span.

So if Reiko dies in the comic, the game story would still cover a time period when he is still alive and another when he isn't. It has also been confirmed that the game covers the Outworld civil war so we probably we know what happens to him during the game.

I think Reiko will be the boss.
He always had a hole in him that needed to be filled with lore, and the comic has begun to do that.
He will probably rise to a boss character with Shao Kahns hammer (because it buffs him) and all the factions will have to work together to some extent to overthrow him, because by the time he will rule, the hammer won't be his only weapon.

I agree with this 100%. This is also y Goro still has his arms LoL. The NetherRealm War takes place before the MKX comix.

The story mode won't be endless, that's why we have the comic to complement it and fill the gap, people shouldn't get their hopes up expecting to see everything that transpired during the 25 year period, at best we will have a couple of key flashbacks and/or very short chapters and then skip to present time.

But look at it this way, every character that's confirmed to be in the game including the characters shown in the next trailer (Mileena, Sonya, Jax) all show up in the comic with new designs, All of them.

There might be an exception or two down the line, like Reiko getting a final boss revamp outfit later on in the comic (pure speculation) but the costumes are still a good indication to go by, just based on the characters we know are playable.

True, but no character post trilogy, has been seen in the comic yet in a new outfit. I think they are in their old costumes so we recognize them, since we havent seen them in this timeline.

But I will say once someone is wearing a new costume 95% sure theyll be in mkx

I think its cool to have a sub boss thats not playable. But when it comes to chars. like Reiko or Shinnok, i wish them to be playable. Just program them very fuking hard in arcade/ story mode.

I am still flabbergasted that Reiko did not make the cut for MKX given his prominent role in the latest comics =[

Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for more DLC characters and Reiko being one of them.

Anyway, if he does come back what variations should he have? I am thinking War Hammer (weapon emphasis), Imposter (Kahn v.2.0), and General (MKA Reiko with tune ups).

Design-wise, I hope he keeps his comic (MKA) look with slight upgrades.

Yeah I think those variations sound good.

Weapon variation, off brand playable Shao Kahn variation, and maybe a variation based on whatever happens to him after cutting himself with the Kamidogu daggers

The comic and MKX storylines are totally different. Reiko would serve no purpose in the game and we don't need more characters crammed into it. Tanya and Tremor are bad enough.
Let him stick with the comic where he's enjoyed the best character development since...ever.

He is just so awesome in the comics, I'be been thinking about this a lot too! Variations could go something like:

Onslaught: Powered up rush attacks (similar to what he looked like when he beat up Jax in the comics)
Usurper: Uses Shao Kahn inspired attacks (helmet rush/ war hammer/ spear)
Bloodlust: Uses all six Kamidogu blades, which can hover around him similar to Kung Lao's hat, or fly at the opponent, or use one to stab him.

Maybe if he stab's you with the Kamidogu, for a moment whatever attack you use winds up damaging yourself!

So yeah, I am totally nerding out over Reiko, really hope they don't just kill him off. There's always the NeatherRealm...
