But yeah, I don't get the fascination with these characters. Like people who want Art Lean from the movie... I mean, why? He's just mister random dude created just to be killed. He wasn't even likeable, imo.
Anyways, this is off-topic.

I'm not saying that I want Hydro, but rather that I would prefer him over Rain, who was just created for the sake of having a purple ninja with water powers.
Well, to each his own.

You can generalize any MK character's creation with that abhorrent lackadaisical tone. But as you stated, to each his own.

On topic, sorry friend, Rain is most likely not going to be in MKX. Not on the initial roster. Not as DLC. And not because of some petition. Best focus on something else.

I'm not into the whole petition thing. If he's gonna be in, he's gonna be in.
But it is unfortunate if he is not. Of all the people that would get petitions....yet Kano is in and I bet there never would have been a petition for him lol. Nothing against him, just my opinion.
X would have been the time to really make Rain shine and have him be an involved character. It's really too bad the opportunity is probably lost. But I will not count Rain out just yet....!

Rain is lame.
I really like Rain and hope he somehow makes it into MKX. As OP correctly stated, he was only ever deconfirmed as DLC, so no matter what his haters and hilariously emo supporters say he still has a shot at being on the main roster or being an unlockable. I'm not going to sign the petition because a petition won't matter unless NRS is the one making it. I'm also not gonna get my hopes up because I'm an adult and have lost the ability to give that kind of fuck about a game, but my inner child/fanboy is happy a Rain petition exists, as weird as that probably sounds.

I mean, if Rain hasn't got the chance to develop yet 20 years later I'm finding it a little hard to believe another game would do much to change that.

Thank you. I wasn't "attacking" anyone, I was just saying it's easy to dismiss any character's creation with such a boiled down statement. Of Course Rain was created as a "Purple Ninja with water powers", but how is that any different than anyone else in this series? Sub-Zero was created to be a blue ninja with "ice powers". Goro was created to be a big dude with four arms. Cyrax was created to be a yellow cyborg dude and Sektor, a red verson ect. I mean we can generalize that with every character. I only took issue with it because I couldn't personally see how some one could insinuate that more thought was put into a character like Hydro...who hasn't even appeared in an MK game.
But that's all I had to say. It definitely wasn't meant as an "attack". Apologies to anyone if it came off like that. I've been told I can come off as having a sharp tone even when I'm not trying too.

I wonder when we'll have the official number of characters, period. Boon said in an interview that it'll have a roster about the size of MK9 when it ships to retailers (So 28-30- plus who knows how many DLC fighters, I have a feeling there might be a nice amount of DLC characters this time around). But every time we see the select screen it's the same 24 spaces. I'm hoping the next time we get a look at it, it's redesigned with the proper amount of spaces, otherwise I'm going to have to continue to assume that we'll be looking at 24 characters, guest included.

Not a single person called you that. Not a single one. Hell even Red didn't. And no one hinted this at you either. So stop it.
He's not a character I want desperately in... however I do find this petition to be made pretty early.
I mean... wasn't a Rain petition made after the entire roster for 2011's was revealed? We only have like what, eight-nine characters revealed now out of twenty/thirty-something characters? Oooookay.

Yeah, funny that. I mean at E3 2010, MK9's select screen had the same design and number of spaces as the retail copy. And one of the guys at NRS said they're ahead of schedule with this game, so.....*shrug*

Yeah, I'd think the select screen would have those added spaces by now or a complete new design.

It's ok I understand you.
What I'm trying to say is that he hasn't really done anything in the series, hes just... there, as opposed to Sub Zero, Cyrax, Sektor and most others who actually had an impact on the story.

Why? It's not like they're using up all 24 and need more spaces. There's still 7 months left to go.
