Is it seriously confirmed that he's playable?

No. He is an NPC.

I don't understand how people are okay with fightable NPCs, imo it feels kinda insulting knowing these characters are on disc with their own movesets and designs but we can't use them.

They're not fully fleshed out though.

It's different when your favorite is one of those fightable NPCs!

The particle effects of his purple lightning look great though :)

Wonder if he had an X-ray :)

I agree, especially on the fact that they went as far as giving them all of their specials.
If the character was just to have punches and kicks, that would had been the smart way of doing things. But to see him being decked out, only to be just missing Variations (which his MK9 OP ass doesn't need) and audio and not playable, is very disappointing. And he's not going to be the only one to get this NPC treatment.

I'm jealous of PC gamers right now. They get to have MKX 2.0.

Ahnka, at least use spoiler tags for those of us who want to wait to be surprised when the game comes out.

Much appreciated.

Oh so you don't wanna be spoiled? What are you doing in this thread then? What are you doing in MKO???

Hey so the video has been taken down..

did anyone notice if Rain had a variation name above his health bar. All of the playable character fights in story mode show which variation they are using.

Was it blank or did it say anything in the variation name spot?

Not heartbroken that Rain isn't playable, but damn, they should've had this design as his default in MK9 instead of the generic purple Scorpion one.

Hate to throw 3D era fanboys a bone but if they're going through the trouble of designing these NPCs and making them fightable, them being downloadable at some point is a possibility.

I can see him being playable DLC in the next round. Why go through the hassle of redesigning him the way they did. Wasted opportunity IMO.

Next round I can see it being(hopefully no guest characters taking away any more spots):

Rain
Fujin
Sareena or Sindel
Reiko or Havik

And maybe even more if we are lucky!

Hmmmmmmm, not enough horror movie icons on that list.

Michaeal Myers, Chuckie, Terminator and Dr. House all have priority over the MK NPCs.

If players are vocal enough, I am sure we will get Rain. His new model is already there.

We are going to have a far higher chance of getting Rain over say another character people may highly request but NR would have to build from scratch.

I can easily see Rain join the roster by August if enough fans are vocal in wanting him. Same goes with any other fightable npc characters highly wanted.

Oh I wish...
But the "characters that were DLC in MK9 will not be DLC again in MKX", that apparently Boon said, is what keeps my hopes low.

True, but he also said a lot of things that MKX would have....that are NOT there.

At this point, I take his word now as squat. If enough people want to pay for them, I am sure they will deliver. He isn't the only one on the team to make decisions.

Boon has said a lot of things. At this point, after all the out cry of the story mode and other stuff from fans- him going back on his word about Rain being DLC would be the least shocking thing to happen. Not to mention with Tanya now as DLC, leaving Rain out even though he's fully functional and has a new costume and is on the same level in story as Tanya is just odd.

I have a STRONG feeling Kombat Pack 2 might end up being

1) Rain
2) Fujin
3) Baraka/Li Mei
4) Spawn

Spawn because the guy who created him stated that he allowed NRS a certain amount of time to use the character and I doubt NRS will let that go.
