No character is created to be disliked by fans. That is insanely stupid and a waste of time. Why create a character you hope people dislike when you can create one they like? That's your own thoughts jumbling around in there and I'm sure far from the truth.
As far as Rain goes he wasn't the best character in MK9 but a lot of people liked him, thought he had a cool design, and if I'm not mistaken he sold pretty well.
I'm not saying he's this big huge character that everyone loved...but he's far from the abomination you're surely acting like he was. If anything most people seem to be pretty 50/50 on him.
Your right, I can admit I am exaggerating quite a bit. I guess you could say I'm just sour about how he played in mk9. And Im not saying they messed up his design. His costume design was my top 3 favorites from mk9. But I do think his stellar design had a lot to do with his sales. Not his gameplay.
Everything aside I would love to see rain make a return in this game as well.
