Stole that title, I know. It's a good one though. grin

Anyway, jesus-fucking-christ Scorpion is so goddamn frustrating to fight against, especially in his Inferno variation. I have actually had two separate players pull off infinity-esque combos against me, one using Inferno and the other Hellfire.

I know I'm ranting a little here, having just gotten my ass spanked by a teabagging Inferno Scorp, but seriously, Scorpion is just too good imo (and, predictably, way overused online).

Anyone else struggling against this bastard? furious

He can be annoying, just don't let him get far away because he will start zoning the sh** out of you and eventually catch u with Arise Minion, spear, then combo lol whenever I face one I just get relentless, its risky but its better than sitting at the other side of the screen attempting to guess which minion he's going to throw out next lol

Good advice. When he zones, it's annoying...but I can occasionally deal with it. It's when he starts slapping me with 45% combos when I happen to finally get near him...and then he starts zoning again with those ridiculous minions. Or worse, he just goes all out with the infinites...bleh.

It's getting to the point that when I see someone hop over to Scorpion and immediately go for Inferno, I seriously consider just backing out...cause I know it's just going to be an exercise in frustration. lol

I'll fight anyone, as long as it isn't SCORPION. Lol

best thing you can do is to learn quan chi sorcerer variation. he's the perfect counter for Inferno scorp. but keep in mind that he's not easy to use.

Just throwing this out there...there are no infinites. You're just not guessing correctly.

Frustrating? Yes. O.p.? Maybe. Broken? No.

They feel like infinites. They're separate combos, yes, but performed so quickly and in such quick succession, there's literally almost no time whatsoever to react. So, to me at least, they're basically infinities. lol

Disheartening.

But, maybe I'll try Sorcerer Quan Chi as suggested above.

Edit: Meh, I'm just feeling sour at the moment. Three losses in a row, each with a different character, just irks me.

Actually, scorpion is Hight risk Hight reward character, that means he is pretty unsafe, you can punish almost all his strings.

If he gets u in a combo, Just block low after one of the combo strings is over, because almost everyone does, low kick then spear or minion/hellfire. If he decides to go overhead, you have plenty of time to change your guard from Low to standing, block low again after that hit because its again, minion or spear, and the punish the shit out of him!!

I destroy scorpions using Liu Kang because he has extremely quick combo strings and also, are safe as well.

Lol Ninjutsu was my main, but I have become attached to Slasher Jason for some reason.

I can deal with his pressure and trying to combo me because I can punish his ass pretty easily but when he gets far away and starts zoning I get into a little trouble because Slasher lacks a teleport so it can be hard for me to close that distance sometimes, I can shoulder charge but ill get slapped with a spear, so I pretty much have to meter burn/armored charge to get in but once I do I am usually set.

Lol I am about to make a "I hate Erron Black" or "I hate D'vorah" thread though, these 2 characters give me the most trouble out of the rest of the roster for some reason, I am not sure why though hahaha

here is a quan chi sorcerer vs scorp Inferno match:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1KPLHicEd8&index;=10&list;=PLMCVZuWZHskfgnlBkua4x3-XoJIU8HS81

and yes thanks for the tip. the quan chi player seems also always to block low in scorpions vortex (and probably reacting to an overhead) makes scorpions vortex somehow useless (unless he throws you)

Nope. Inferno Scorpion is my main and he owns most characters no matter what variation they use.

If you want to unsettle Inferno Scorpion, try to get in close otherwise he will zone you out with the anti air overhead and the low minion. Most characters can not deal well with the zoning. If you get caught by the low minion expect to lose 25% to 33% of health so do not allow him to zone you out. Try to keep on the offensive.

I would say the best character agaiinst Inferno Scorpion is Thunder God Raiden or Outlaw Erron Black.

Scorpion is by far my favorite but that Inferno Scorpion is OP as hell. You have to get close and hope to God you don't drop the combos. Deal tons of damage every time you get in his face cuz if he's on the other end of that screen it's over. I'm using slasher Jason and I really wish that variation got the lake mist teleport. I bet if you use a Raiden or Kung Lao you could punish Scorpion pretty good just by teleporting.

He isnt broken. His overhead has alot of Start-up frames so block low and react high, Im sure you can poke him out as well with the overhead so its not a true vortex

As a coverts ops Sonya player, I cannot do anything against an inferno scorpion,

I can consistently defeat hellfire/Ninjitsu but inferno is just to,much to deal with, you can't jump you can't stand still and when you burn your meter to get close he instantly teleports away.

I end up.dying from chip.damage by how proficient ive become with blocking.

I know what you mean.

Spear
A small combo ending in you on the ground.
ARISE!
Spear
A small combo ending in you on the ground.
Try to jump, oh, air minion, back on the ground.

Then you should be punishing.

I think Hellfire is the version people should be worried about, I got a bad feeling about that variation. I could see it potentially becoming the Kabal tier of MKX. I also do not have enough knowledge to really make this statement considering I don't play it but yeah, once people get the difficulty of using it down I think we will see it dominating tournaments more and more. That is my prediction.

As far as inferno scorpion goes I agree that in some match ups it can be very difficult especially when your character doesn't have good zoning. But as others have said once he gets you into the vortex block low and watch for the overhead. Overhead into spear? Punish. Something into point blank arise? Punish. Low into spear? punish. The overhead comes out slow so thats the one to watch for. Easier said than done, I know. If he does the grab than boom you're outta the vortex.

Minion grab Block low chip damage
Minion drop Block high 3% chip damage
Move a little block low minion grab chip damage

Lose it ex arc kick scorpion blocks comfortably teleports, block teleport chip damage but I can punish him here

Scorpion is at a distance inferno game starts again only I.have no meter and helplessly losing 3% chip damage to consecutive minion drops and minions grabs at a distance

I start sweating start getting desperate one slip one mistake and I'm on the receiving end of an ex ( his Meter is full from all the minions he's been summoning), mistake happens and I'm left with a quarter of my life,

He starts his inferno game again and basically chips me to death, all.the while I'm standing helpless, I can't run the minion drop tracks, I can't jump the minion drop hits me. Out of the air, I don't have teleport I have an ex arc kick that takes one bar and takes less damage than a blocked minion drop.

Goddamn, just watched that video. Both players are phenomenal, but that Quan Chi Sorcerer was absolutely on top of his game.

Not sure if I can match that reaction speed to pull off those combo strings. Gonna try tho.

The problem is that after he finishes his fucking 35+% combo, he can go overhead, low, or grab. That means you have 33% chance of guessing correctly and if you guess wrong, chances are high you eat another 30+% combo.

I think Inferno Scorpion needs nerfs. Just making his overhead demon not overhead anymore, meaning allowing low block would make a world of difference. If that is unreasonable, cut the damage by half received from the overhead demon.

I use Grandmaster Sub-Zero but have adapted with Unbreakable against Inferno Scorpions's.

Does her Arc Kick get armor on meter burn? That should help pretty well unless he teleports away instantly, but his TP brings him right to you just on the other side so if you make that move knowing he is gonna TP you might be able to catch him , possibly with the military stance cartwheel kick overhead into a nice combo.

Easier said than done I know, but it sounds good in my head lol

Huh, I just beat an inferno Scorpion...using Sorcerer Quan Chi...as suggested... wow

And he was a pretty good Scorpion player too. Played four matches, and won twice...even as a very, VERY inexperienced Quan Chi player.

I still think inferno Scorpion needs a nerf. I think Demon's suggestion is realistic.

I feel the same way about Ermac. It's gotten to the point now where if my opponent picks Ermac I just Quitality. I find him annoying to fight, and get sick of them spamming the same damn moves over and over (stun ball, teleport spamming).

I've noticed when fighting Inferno scorpion that he is capable of infinite corner combos, and the spammers love this. I just quit the match if they pick inferno scorp, although now that I finally got Rev liu kang, I never have any reason to play 1v1 ranked again. Now I just need Rev Kung Lao, Rev Kitana, and Hotshot Johnny. Rev Kitana is almost too easy. Johnny will never happen unless I partner with someone to cheat our way through it (and i've received an offer through this forum already, thanks!). Rev Kung Lao...that'll be a chore. But when its done, I finally will never have to do pvp again.
