Here is an idea for the new MK. I was thought of this when in another thread someone mentioned batman begins...MK should do the same.
The MK story has degraded into total crap...too many silly characters and a bad story...just like the Batman series.
They should re-do the original MK or possibly a MK pre-quel. But make it 3D and play like a VF or DOA style but with the special moves...the special moves need to be toned down and explained better. In earlier MKs it seemed that the special moves were explained in some way....but in the later ones...its like everyone has them...making them no longer special.
Anyway the point is they should do a re-imaging of the MK universe. Starting with a pre-quel. Maybe of Kung Lao the Great...or of the First MK tourney.

No, have MK8 play like Tekken style, not DOA or VF style.

Right on. I HATE the way Tekken plays//feels.
That doesn't say that Tekken(or any of the other popular franchises) aren't "technically better" than MK. Because technically, they are better. But I don't like one thing about how those games feel when I play them.
So instead, I'd like Mk to feel like -- where I thought they were going during MK1-T... I'd like MK to feel like we're playing Movie choreography..
That way, it's innovative for a video game, MK remains it's own game, and we get what we've been waiting for from a fighting game all these years anyway.
Also, there's less confinement in the styles this way, and I feel like each character should have 1 style that personalizes them like they were back in the day. You could have portions of multiple types of martial arts styles dedicated to one character. Maximizing the unexpected from a character each time a game comes out, so long as the style the character has, feels like they should have those moves.
For instance, Shang Tsung should have Crane and Snake//Mantis styles, but that doesn't mean that a move or two from Kung Fu can't make it into the way he fights.
I think this benefits potential for everyone on the roster to grow as a fighter. So, for another example, take Raiden. This guy has been around since at least a few million years.... Shouldn't he have hues from all kinds of martial arts about him? Not just Nan Chuan and whatever else?
So long as it fit his character, I think it's illogical to have him fight with any less influence. He should have hues from everything in the book, within his fighting style. Same for everyone else who is REALLY old like that. Kitana, Quan Chi ect...
Fluid, sensible, befitting of each characters personality...
MOVIE CHOREOGRAPHY.
The only limit to this should be a characters personality or alignment good/evil.

Hell no. The series needs to evolve and move forward. It should always carry classic MK elements with it (like some characters, arenas, special moves, the dark and gory image, etc), but it should always introduce new material and keep moving forward, not backwards.
A Kung Lao prequel? That would be the boringest game ever.
