It's like fans don't grasp the idea of certain characters being unique. I don’t see how the objections are pointless. It probably can be done, but one of my points is that it would take WAY more work than it’s worth. I already stated that taking away x-rays for him would cause a whole new wave of complaints. Even if they did take away x-rays and fatalies for him think about everyone’s moveset how would Kitana perform that attack where she runs over the opponent’s torso and lands right behind them and stabs them in the head? That’s just one of countless moves they would have to change just to have Motaro in.
It has nothing to do with no wanting unique characters, I don’t even know how you came to that conclusion. I would love for him to be in the game, but that’s way too much work.

The lack of a tablet's ease of use with certain functions (especially Apple) isn't due to an overdose of tech. It is due to a lack of compatibility.

And Motaro is not compatible with the way the rest of the gameplay is made. That's my point. And didn’t NRS already say something like that?

Mobile platforms have a decent excuse of lack of universal compatibility, because each company makes their devices and operating systems render certain code in a different way. Iphones have a a resolution that fits two pixels into one CSS standard "pixel", and that is just a very elementary example. It is impossible for any developer to pander to the needs of each and every company, while keeping it future proof.

NRS only has one excuse they can use with Motaro, and that it is too hard, not impossible or incompatible. At the same time, he hasn't proven his relevance enough for them to want to put out the extra effort.

He can be done. He just likely wont.

How did Motaro turn around in mk3? I don't remember. Did he just kind of flip around? With characters having an actual turn around animation now.., it takes quite a bit for a horse to turn around irl, and could definitely not be done anywhere near as fast as others. Only way out of this would be for him to kind of do a quick teleport when he turns.


He could be a boss, but would be very difficult to make him playable.

I would imagine that two legged characters are coded differently from a four legged one. It doesn't have to be two different companies. Would Motaro not have different needs than the two legged characters?

We can agree that he's too hard. Even if he was that important, that's just too much work centered around just one character.

No, and I don't mean it maliciously. But I do agree with everyone's point regarding the specifics and root canal procedure to cater such a character to a 3D video game.

They even fucked up his face in MKA.

I was hoping for Moloch to be the sub boss this time around, but I don't think this game is heading in that direction. Get it? Har har.

Either way, a monster character needs to be a sub boss. Please none of this Quan Chi or Noob-Smoke crap.

If he is going to be playable, chances are people are going to want to use him online or in competitions, and if you cant do X-rays or certain grabs or specials on him, people will cry about him being cheap or that he has an unfair advantage.

He would be a great throwback non-playable sub boss. But I think he was killed by Raiden in MK9 so maybe his son? it would fit MKX's theme, lol

It's actually not terribly difficult from a programming perspective. You just hand animate which any basic professional game animator would be able to do. No different than someone animating a different movement for a big character like Goro or Moloch. It doesn't affect mechanics at all. And like someone else said, just make him immune to most or all X-rays. That alone would make him more challenging.

I think it's well past time they gave Motaro another shot! He would automatically be more interesting and exciting than bringing Goro back for the 5th time!

He still could be!! But it would be a really, really lame sub boss fight because you'd just kinda kick his head around for a little bit until it went to the next match.

If that was directed at me, then yes, technically speaking, I am a professional multimedia developer for a private yet well known entity. If not, then nevermind, haha. Regardless, I refuse to accept that Motaro can't be done. I'm not even upset about it. I just think it is kind of funny how they expect us to believe it.
They COULD always make boss/sub-boss characters playable through local versus or online with someone on your friends list, so that someone can't bullshit their way through a match with Motaro attack spam or something.

I definitely think they could make Motaro work as a balanced fighter but I just think they really don't care for him and don't want to upset his fans, which believe it or not, are probably a lot of. I don't fault them for that, but I just think that's more likely the case.

Bottom line,

NRS will listen if enough people talk about him and ask for him. Multiple people from NRS use twitter and are easily accessable. Flood them with Motaro requests and he will eventually show up again. Not in this game but if they feel the love for him he would probably show up in the next.

I'm sure it would work with any character, especially since I have a feeling we are going to see Tremor show up as DLC.
