Personally, I've always been a big fan of the Mythologies series. The concept on paper was awesome, but the game wasn't anything to really write home about.
I would love to see Midway and the MK team use their Shaolin Monks engine, refine it a tad, and continue the Mythologies concept.
I think with Scorpion being by far the most popular, I think it would be in the best financial interest to make Mythologies game based around him first, and having the story interconnect with a remade Sub-Zero game, where you have to play Sub-Zero's story to fill in the missing pieces.

Although I'm sure it will probably never happen, that doesn't mean we can't discuss it, because Ed Boon and his team do get ideas from forums like these...
Personally, I would rather see a Mythologies type game centered around someone like Shao Kahn or Kitana. I think that it would be better and more interesting to explore their backstories.
