I was just watching it again, and holy shit the 60 fps/1080 hd looks amazing.
But yeah, it reminds me of that or the attract mode for the old arcade games.

I know that MK isn't exactly known for consistency and logic but I kinda have issues with Sub-Zero sticking a knife in your head = instant death, but him tearing out your insides and shoving them across your skull = get up and keep fighting.

That's what I have been saying all along, it's just like Kreate a Fatality. Only Kreate a Fatality actually allowed you to do some cool stuff, even though they were all the same for all characters.
It's funny that they say "Over 100 Brutalities" people don't seem to realize the only reason there are "Over 100 Brutalities" Is because they are all just special moves that cut the opponent in half or does something like that.
Sort of like that one challenge tower mission with Kung Lao where you throw your hat with EX at the enemy and they get split in half. In fact there is something EXACTLY like that.
So "Brutalities" were back from MK9.

They weren't finished in time For mk9. Ed confirmed that and there was a leaked voice clip.

Not what I was expecting at all, but they look damn good.
Some of them are more creative then others, but all in all, they look fun. It also is like a "Fuck You" to your opponent to just combo them into execution. It's cool they have close to 100 and they will never get old.
Good job NRS!

That's why I was dissapointed the moment they announced them. I've always looked at brutalities as fatalities that were meh. With the introduction of x-rays in mk9 and having fatalies in the same game, brutalities seem kinda obsolete.

Agreed 100%. I love the new Brutality's, totally was not expecting it. I remember people always requesting something like this for MK9, and now that they got it they are complaining about it! Some fans are so entitled and can't enjoy anything unless it meets their standards.

Did anyone notice Cassie's nut punch / muff punch to decapitate brutality has a really weird animation ?
It was like Cassie's hand went completely behind D'vorah. I hope that gets fixed.

These are fucking dope. People will bitch just because they are not the same as the classic brutality but I like this idea. You can still pull off a 10x combo people, alot of you seem to have missed the part where they said u can combo into them. Cantvwait!!!

I love the idea and some of them are great. Dvorahs was the best. Just quick fatalities at the end of your combo or throw, good stuff.
I don't know why those chose to call them brutalities though. I think if they called them something else there wouldn't be any pushback from fans, it's a nice addition. I don't mind either way.
Boss kotal statue in the stage as well which also includes an animal for those theorizing on stage animalities.

People need to get over the name and realize we're getting over a 100 additional finishing moves. That is just insane, massive props to NRS.

"Well over 100" is pretty amazing but from what I've seen so far they've been hit and miss for me. 50/50 like I said. Hopefully when I start seeing even more it becomes 80/20 or 90/10. I really did enjoy them though. Got a lot of "Ohs and ahs" out of me.
What I do like the most about them though is how you'll always be at the "edge of your seat" because it happens so seamlessly that you can't really know when to expect it which is pretty scary lol. Now THAT part is awesome. It looks like the whole "6 million ways to die" thing can surely apply to this game and I'm loving it.
I don't like the idea! Only Cassie's and Kung brutals look decent, but still suck because we need the DARK SCREEN POP UP and then the music starts and the auto0brutality repeats itself. More than 95% don't look like brutalities, they have just 1 or 2 strikes, that's not brutality at all. I also want BRUTALITY wroted the same way as Trilogy and all. What the hell people ? The x-rays look 1000% more awesome and gruesome. Just let me finish my combo in round 2 with x-ray and call it brutality!!!!! ok ?

i wonder if some brutalities are exclusive to certain variations?
i say this because in the kast , the first brutality we see is cassie cages tackle move which is exclusive to her Brawler variation isnt it?

I can understand why some people wouldn't like these Brutalities. The old ones were just an overly long combo set on loop for ten seconds ending in an explosion, which wasn't all that great, but what they did have was an "overkill" feeling that went beyond the "quick and efficient execution" of the Fatalities. Here, it's kind of reversed: the Brutality is quick and efficient and the Fatality is overkill. And for people who have a specific definition of what "Brutality" is supposed to mean, it's easy to see how that can come across as wrong.
As for me, I see it like this: If you want to do a huge, difficult combo input, then you can learn the huge and difficult combo inputs that you can already do in the game and link them straight into a Brutality. That way you get all the extra punches and kicks and special moves in that you want, and do it your way, with a hell of a lot more variety than the old ones ever gave you. You want X-rays involved? Maybe not every character, but some characters let you combo out of an X-ray and you can Brutality from there.
If Brutalities were made the way a lot of folks seem to want, it honestly wouldn't be much different from an overly long Fatality. Just like it wasn't back in the day. Indeed, that was the exact complaint that most of the people on this forum had right up to the moment that we saw them.
Here's another thing: I've seen a number of people complain that Fatalities take too long when you just want to hurry up and play another match. These same people say that the Fatalities get boring after seeing the same two kills over and over again. And so look at what they did: they gave you an even greater variety of finishing moves that take a lot less time. No court date, no sentencing, no bullshit -- just a straight-up blood-on-the-streets Brutality.
This is an example of NRS caring about what fans want. And while I understand that we all have a "right" to complain, it boggles my mind that so many of us cannot see this:
Every time NRS gives some people what they want, that means other people get the opposite of what they want. This goes for characters in the roster and everything else.
I don't care about silencing critics. I do care about exposing the ways that the majority of criticism around here is short-sighted, and how some people are bent on not liking this game for any reason.

After settling down, they are starting to grow on me. I like the concept, that after a regular combo you can finish them off which is similar to the original brutality. I also like the quick finish, it's fresh and unexpected at times. I do feel that while some are awesome, some are not, but that's bound to happen with over a 100! I rather they would stick with quality over quantity, but with every character having 2 fatalities and the possibility for stage fatalities as well, we have nothing to complain about.

Well good thing they didn't do them in MK9 if they were going to look like that lol.
And for people that are sooooo excited saying "OVER 100 WOW" "WOW CAN'T BELIEVE 100"
Just ask yourself this question, Why can they do over 100 Brutalities and they can't do over 100 Fatalities in time?
Exactly, you are reaching the right conclusion in your mind, It's because they are sooooo bland and uncreative, basically half assed Fatalities...
It really makes me cringe when the announcer says "Brutality"
DUDE YOU COULD HAVE SAID THAT WHEN I DID MY FUCKING XRAY!

Dude ran out of health. Apparently you can survive anything in MK until you run out of health. You beat 'em down hard enough to where attacks that should kill them actually kill them. It's not realistic, but it fits the logic of fighting games well enough. Actually, it fits the logic of action movies too. How many broken bones and bullets and right-in-the-face C4 explosions do those guys shrug off before "merely" getting knifed in the head in the final act?
In essence, that one is about as deadly as Cyber Sub's brain shuriken Fatality. That's not saying much, but when you look at the opponent falling over with a knife sticking out of his forehead, you don't really imagine him pulling the thing out himself and doing some more flip kicks. That motherfucker dead. X-rays may be more over the top -- sometimes ludicrously over the top -- but they don't feel quite as... final, you know?
