Mortal Kombat Rebirth teaser trailer
EDIT- Apparently this is just a proof of concept or demo reel for a new movie. And not connected to the games. At least according to this site:

Holy crap!!!
I don't know quite what to say, certainly a huge change for the series. Shame about no Liu Kang though, maybe we will get more teasers like this towards the games release focusing on other characters.. proof of concept or demo ree

It's SOOOO DIFFERENT. I'm suprised I actually like it.
It's looks like MK with a twisted metal twist. Is this a movie trailer or video game trailer? Man, I'm liking this shit.

I have no idea what this is, but I definitely found it interesting. I actually made a thread about it a minute earlier, but whatever . Like I said, it's interesting, but I'm not sure if I'd want the game to be this realistic. I guess we'll find out soon...

I''m thinking it could be for the video game. WB seems to have a habbit for hiring live actors to do trailers for the games such as that FEAR 3 trailer.

I have to be honest with you, I thought you just posted a fake fan made trailer, because as soon as I saw the first few seconds of it I dismissed it. Then I went back to the video and skipped near the end and when Micheal White said the names of the MK characters I could not believe it was real.
Man, now that the MK team is now backed by the WB, I will expect amazing things from the game itself. The teaser trailer is great .aka Seven of Nine from Star Trek = Sonya? and of course Micheal Jai White as Jax...... Great!!!! On the down side , it sounds like a reboot of the series, as hinted by Reptile's story. Cage dead. To be frank, I am upset at some things such as baraka not a mutant from another world and Reptile not a last member from a extinct race?!?! I am sort of sad, all that history from all these years is gone. I wish they had build from where they left off from a storyline point of view.
Thanks for POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :.)
Normally I'm not a fan of giving stale franchise the "gritty" reboot...
... except in certain cases, like this.
I love the fantastic, fantasy-based MK stuff as much as the next person, but over the years it has lost focus on what made it stellar, which was that it started with a realistic approach with a slight touch of the supernatural. Most of the characters were human and there were a few "freaks" in there as well, like Reptile, Scorpion, and Goro. But over the years, it became an endless joke of lack-luster characters, a ton of different realms nobody cared about (like Chaosrealm and Orderrealm?), and a plot that spiraled wildly out of control and ultimately imploded with MK: Armageddon.
This is a reset/reboot I've found myself suddenly and passionately interested in, restoring the shock, awe, and uniqueness that's been sorely missing for years.
Of course, I await with the others to see if this is going to be a movie or a trailer for the actual game, but I can't say I'm disappointed at all with some of the casting decisions already. Michael Jai White is an amazing martial artists and actor while Jeri Ryan looks like quite the dangerous and respectable Sonya Blade.
I do hope there are some supernatural elements, but that they're subdued. The freakish white eyes Scorpion has seems to confirm this, but we'll see.
Overall, I'm excited about a MK property for the first time since before Armageddon was released.

I am dissapointed that in films today, because alot of films released in the past 2-3 years have been alot of remakes of classic shows and films. Is this new generation of writers so brain dead that they can't come up with new ideas instead of taking people ideas from the past, and in most cases done better in the oringal itself?
To the point I am sort of sad that the MK team took this route. All the history end with MK Armageddon . They could have done the same thing that Deadly Alliance did, just play off some of the events that happened in MK1 though MK4, but overall have a new storyline.
I am not bashing MK8's idea, in fact I can't wait to see more. The thought just hit me, that all the cool character's orgins storys are gone and re-written.

I don't trust Kotaku. I'll wait for an official confirmation from someone on the team before I can treat this as truth. I'm pretty sure it has to be real though, even if the actors are B and C list, they had to get paid.

What does Kotaku have to do with this? They just posted the video.
Anyway...It's definitely not for a movie and it's definitely not fan made. I guess it's for the game, but I didn't expect that big of a change in a potential reboot. Either way, it's very interesting and I'd like to find out more.

Took me a few minutes to sort through my head what I thought about it but FUCK. Its everything Boon said.
Starting the slate clean.
Brutal and violent.
A perfect take on things.
Please please please please let this be the new game.
