I spammed Liu Kang to get it. Flying Kicks, using the stage to jump around projectiles and staying close enough to get high combos yet keep enough distance to back away if needed.

How i did it, get the X Ray bar up to actually do an X-Ray in the first round and get the opponent near the sides (best if this on a stage without jump-able sides) and just uppercut them repeatedly and end with an X-Ray.
Uppercuts are really powerful in this game.

Also a good method. I got stuck with Cage though and he kept nut punching me when I tried. It all depends on who you get stuck with, honestly. lol

Yeah I'm stuck with Cage, and I'm using Cassie atm. I keep getting so close to a flawless and then he gets a quick jab in.

Cage for me got put down in the second round with Liu Kang with an x-ray, tons of fireballs, flying kicks and the B button / O button 4x combo. (I think it's the B/O button anyway). Just find an attack that he leaves himself open to and spam the fuck out of it for 10 seconds then try and switch to something else, then go back to what you used first. lol It's what worked for me.

Finally got it. I paused and gave it a rest for a while, and when I came back to it I kicked Cage's ass on first try. Spammed him with some of Cassie's smaller combos.

I found it rather easy if you could manage to get them in a corner with T-God Raiden. Which isn't too difficult using his flying move. Figured out a great corner combo that takes 34% without using any super meter.

As a Kano player, I used a lot of one of my favorite quick combo. If you connect with a flyng kick, you can combo into an Air Ball. MB it and it's 20% for 3 hits. Did that a few times, along with a few uppercuts and knife throwing. I was against Scorpion. Took me maybe 8 tries.

Nice. Little off topic but I'm curious - How is Kano this time around? There's numerous characters I haven't gotten the hang of yet, or just haven't taken them into practice mode to study. Kano is one of them.

He's great. I don't remember much from how he played in MK9(and in MK9 I had a lot more favs like Noob Saibot, Cyrax and Rain to use) but I'm loving his cutthroat variation.

Canonball is always a great move. Extremely punishable if you get blocked but you can MB the regular one to stay in place, causing delay and confusing the opponent. The upward and downward air variations give you a lot of tools for anti-air or overhead attacks.

Knife toss you can MB in double knife toss for zoning. Not the fastest projectile, but good enough.

Cutthroat gives you access to a big knife slash that you can MB to juggle. It's a very quick move. Useful to counter attack quickly.

He can also charge up but I haven't noticed any big damage difference, I will have to play with this a bit.

Some his normal moves get change by knife attacks, giving you cool new combos.

I tried Cybernetic once but the laser is kind of slow. It was one of my first match so I'll need to try agian. Commando I haven't touched yet. Command grabs aren't my thing.

Anyway, I'm not tournament player or pro, so don't hold my word for it. It's just what I noticed. A pro might tell you his attacks suck. :)

EDIT : Honestly, I don't know why I went that far with my description. Seems like I didn't want to look clueless. smile

I fucking hate the Kano AI in this game, it's brutal. But on the flip side, I have mad respect for people who play as Kano and play him well. lol

@The_TooCool_Master

Well I appreciate the level of detail! smile

Kano was fun in MK9, and while I was initially upset about his inclusion in MKX, once I saw his gameplay I changed my tune. Him, Quan Chi, Shinnok, and Kitana are part of the next few that I want to dissect and learn.

Command grabs aren't my cup of tea either so Cybernetic or Cutthroat will be the ones I stick to. Of course I'll try Commando anyway because ya never know, but I don't see myself getting into that groove.

@KenshiMaster16

Ferreal. Cybernetic Kano always gives me a hassle.

Seriously people... If they put all this extra work into it for just a tower, you'd bitch it wasn't free DLC or something. It seems like some people are seriously never satisfied with anything anymore. It's fine to want and have expectations but Jesus Christ it's been out 1 week. I'm sure they have stuff in the works, but just be patient or stop playing. Its that simple

Some of us, like myself would love to play this tower, but can't because his PS4 bricked. Just be happy with what you have for once.

I would agree with your point of view if the game was free of charge. What right would anybody have to complain about something that they paid nothing for? But that's certainly not the case here. people have paid their hard earned money for this game. And while this MK title is the best one to date, it's going to have its imperfections. And with imperfections, comes the criticisms. Is it difficult to please demanding, bloodthirsty fans? Offcourse! Is it disappointing to find out that a MK1 themed tower offers nothing more than the original fighters with no variations? Fuck yeah!

Personally, I will still love and play the game, but I will voice my opinions. If they had gone all out with the tower, by including the original music (perhaps an upgraded tone), along with the classic arenas and original fatalities, MY GOSH, I know I would have been ecstatic.

I'm thinking that this new approach with the towers is a work in progress for the team. But asking us to be complacent and appreciate what they give us? Well, we will be happy if you nail our expectations.

But please, be honest, deep down inside, wouldn't you have liked a badass, nostalgic MK1 tower with all the awesome old school elements that I just mentioned above?

NRS is a very talented, creative group of people who are well aware of their fan base. They need our constructive criticisms to help them with their creative process in putting together an awesome, well rounded game.

You keep saying "our" and "we" when it's mostly just you.

And you keep expecting UNREASONABLE things from the Netherrealm team.

"I'm disappointed they didn't include the things I wanted for something that they've planned out months in advance that'll only be around for a week."

Usually, when I respond, I try not to speak for anybody else. My opinions and thoughts are mine alone, even though they might parallel someone else post.
However, when you state the following: “You keep on saying “our” and “we” when it’s mostly just you.”, you imply that I continuously used the words “our” and “we”, when I only used them once. I know because I double checked as soon as I read your post.
But, that also means that I am including others, and like I said in the beginning, I always try to speak for myself only. So I do apologize for the implications that my use of the words “our” and “we” have. And just as I will be careful in my next posts, I also do ask that you please be careful and not imply that I am using them more than once, as it suggests that I am trying to impose my thoughts on others.
On the same note, I did notice that other people were disappointed about this tower. Although it’s impossible for me to determine if they agree with me about why they are disappointed without their elaboration, I do feel comfortable in at least saying that my use of the words “our” and “we” was not too far from the truth.
Finally, I wouldn’t say that I am expecting UNREASONABLE things from NRS. Do you have any idea the talent and technology that they have at hand? Just look at how different MKX looks. It’s an incredible looking game! Also, and I revert to my original argument, when you promote an MK1 premiere tower, what do you expect some fans will think? Obviously, we are all going to have our different expectations, some of us will appreciate whatever they include, and others (myself), would have liked for it to be a little bit more, what shall I say, “mk1ish”.
However, one thing that I feel is necessary understood and appreciate about Mortal Kombat is that it has such an incredible and undeniable grip in video game history (it’s the game that started the ratings board for crying out loud!), and a huge fan base, that part of what drives MK forward is it’s nostalgia. When Mk9 was announced, there was an exciting rumour that they would release and HD remake of mortal kombats 1-3. That had so many of us freaking excited! But, it never happened. And I do believe they were actually working on it. So, with that being said, I thought that the MK1 premiere tower would give us a good taste of what could have been an HD remake. You could only imagine my excitement.

Now can you understand my “unrealistic” high expectations?

Exactly my point. I mean, they could have at least included upgraded versions of stages and such. Why call it MK1 tower if they made no effort in bringing the nostalgia back. If they released the classic subzero skin, one would think that they would follow up by releasing classic skins and fatalities to commemorate the MK1 premiere stage.

I mean, didn't they make a big deal about how different their towers were going to be in this game, and how they were going to use the towers to promote replayability by updating them with different challenges and themes?

Let me get this straight. The game has been out exactly one week and for the second ever tower out of literally a 2-3 year long plan they have you already expected classic skins, music, fatalities and stages? Just for a short one week long Living Tower?

Talk about unreal expectations..... confused If that's what you expect from these things, you might just wanna walk away right now. You even have any idea how much work that would require JUST for a week long event?

I don’t want to continue sparring with you about this. Let’s just agree to disagree. Don’t want to make any enemies here. It’s stupid to be arguing about this.
However, I do want to say that you kind of responded a strongly and negatively to my posts with your meme and all.
I still feel the meme is inappropriate though. My expectations, while they may be high and unrealistic to some, are not impossible. Your meme does present an impossibility.
And we shouldn’t cut NRS short or even some slack. They are very capable, extremely talented people that can do wonders with how they designed the towers this time around. They know what they got themselves into, and the ambition that they have demonstrated with this game tells me that they can do amazing things with MK. I actually thought it was genius, and again, very ambitious that they have 3 different towers and how they are going to update them regularly. Imagine the lasting effect MKX will have if they did all of these awesome challenges and themes with the towers? While you feel that the content I was hoping for takes time and effort (and it does, you are definitely right about that), I feel that they have all the right tools and expertise to pull it off. I’m thinking that they thought of the MK1 theme at the last minute, because they could have done a lot more with it. Imagine the excitement that it would have brought if the tower featured amazing things, and ONLY FOR A WEEK! Boy,that would have left a lot of people begging for its return, myself included, and not to mention regret for those that weren’t aware of it. But you can’t deny that it would have created a huge wave of excitement amongst the fans. Imagine how popular MK can become if they did amazing, for a limited time only, mini games and challenges through the towers. I feel that the towers alone could steal the show.
Finally, I wanted to actually thank you (not being sarcastic here) for making me aware of the upcoming DLC that will include the classic fatality packs. I think that would be awesome!
So, I do apologize if any of my responses seemed rude to you, which obviously provoked your responses. It was certainly not my intention. I just wanted to express my thought and opinions. But I do ask that you understand that just as I have very high regards for the NRS team, I can’t help but also have high expectations for the content that they tease us about releasing. Even if it’s for a week. I think their approach with the towers is smart, clever and creative.
I hope this message ends our feud.
