MKX select screens: More than meets the eye...

Now we have an up to date character select screen I compared it to the original one which had the shadowy outlines; and was surprised to see that, for once Boon wasn't trolling when he claimed that there were/are characters hidden there.

Now for some the belief wouldn't be there from me just saying this & pointing out how others can see it too, so I'm posting images of both the original select screen & the recent one (shown in the Kombat Kast 2 stream).

Original select screen:


New select screen:


Now starting from the first box on the top row of the original select screen:
1- ?
2- ?
3- ?
4- Scorpian
5- Cassie
6- Kotal
7- Ferra/Torr
8- D'Vorah
9- Sub-Zero
10- ?
11- Ermac (the crease of his hood can be seen; matches the portrait in the Kombat Kast 2 select screen)
12- ?

Bottom row:
13- ?
14- Reptile (perfectly matches the portrait of him on the Kombat Kast 2 select screen)
15- ?
16- ?
17- ?
18- ?
19- ?
20- ?
21- ?
22- ?
23- Kano (his eye laser on the side of his head is plain to see on the outline & is identical to his Kombat Kast 2 select screen)
24- ?

But look again comparing the new one to the old, and it's clear to see that:
the shape of 11 is actually Ermac's hood; 14 is Reptile; 18 (shadow of Rorschach, a Watcher) was actually Raiden who was teased by the phrase "I stand watch for Eternity"; I think 20 is Kitana because you can just make out the studs on her shoulder pads; 23 was Kano as you can clearly see his eye-laser to the side; and 24 was Quan Chi because you can see the collar of his outfit on both sides.

Keep in mind that number 3 was acknowledged by Boon as being a Lego Man and speculated to be a hint at Cyrax (is yellow, is created) but what about box 2? Look at the shadow and you see that it has squarish points on the sides of the head, could that be Havik wearing his helmet? Could number 12 be Baraka due to scaly ridges on the top of the head? Let's not ignore the very first box on the top row and the fact that without a doubt that shadow is a ninja outline...

Could we actually use the original select screen to work out some of the characters who will be playable?

Hmmm, That one silhouette DOES look like Kitana but the others I am iffy on.

I'm skeptical that the silhouettes from the original version of the select screen actually mean anything.

The one wearing the hat is a direct image of Rorschach, and the one next to Scorpion is a lego guy

I don't dispute that but to this day Boon still sticks to NRS saying that some are hints and some are actual character outlines, he never said all were hints at characters (pretty obvious though considering we're getting new characters)

Which is correct; 11 on the top row is Ermac, 14 on the bottom row is Reptile, 23 is definitely Kano and 24 is Quan Chi- they're right there, just flip from the new select screen and look at them & then look at the original outlines on the first select screen, they match up.

What he's getting is at is, despite how obviously fake the silhouettes are whether it'd be possible to use the fake pics as hints to the roster, like how the Terminator could reference a cyber-ninja.

It's an admirable effort, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are full-on fakeouts while one or two could be genuine. Seems like more effort than it's worth, but I salute anyone who makes the attempt.

Lower-left one with braids....maybe a Jacqui hint? *Shrug*

That's what other people put on them; and it was said time and again that most didn't fit correctly. That's why I haven't included the edited one with who others thought the outlines were for.

Terminator- could equal Sektor easily enough; but I still say that ignoring the Terminator image someone else put on it that the outline could be the Kitana outline from the new select screen.

How anyone thinks terminator references anyone but Kano is beyond me. Kano was inspired by it.

If it was a predator silhouette, then I'd agree a cyber ninja was being hinted.

Exactly, I'm talking about completely forgetting the one that had Skeletor, Lego Man and others on; just trying to find the "few very real hints at characters both old & new" that are there which Boon mentioned back in June.

Not every shadow/outline/hint is a character.

Hmm you know Jacqui could match up pretty well with the first box on the bottom row; good guess.

When I think of T-2, I think of the T-800's attempts to reconcile and understand human emotions; balancing concepts of man vs. machine; the premise of cyber-ninjas in a nutshell.

The first box on the top row: Noob, Rain or Smoke with a hoody type costume on; could even be Takeda because having Scorpian as his mentor you'd think he would dress a bit like him.

The one under D'Vorah may not have been Kitana, it could be Sektor.

Kano is definitely #23 on the bottom row; his eye laser can be seen at the side and it's a direct match to his portrait on the new select screen.

Underneath Cassie in box #17 could be Bo'Rai Cho; what looks to be a big character with a lot of hair.

Below Ferra/Torr- is that Johnny Cage? It sure looks like his outline, you can even see where the hair is slicked back a bit.

The squares on the selekt screen make me nervous lol....

It seems like there's not enough squares and slots! Shouldn't there be more?
I hope that's not final at all....

I hope there is room for Tanya somewhere in there! It would be so amazing!!

I don't see any of those matching the characters. The one you think is Reptile is an image of Neo from Matrix. The one you think is Ermac has hair not a hood ( Prince maybe?)

The silhouettes might hint at characters ( Terminator = Kano ) But they are not actual MK characters.

The 3rd on the bottom is Obama, Baraka hint? The Lego man could be a Cyrax hint? ( I wish)

Baraka Obama...lol. So I'm not the only one who thinks of Baraka every time I hear the President's first name. tongue


Anywho, I just can't put much stock into this.
