I think it'd be cool if it rebooted and we later found out in the story that the reboot was due to the fall out of armaggedon; sort of how the new star trek movies are a different continuity but acknowledge the old timeline.

Either way I hope it's a reboot. Things just got demented in MKA. None of the character's stories really had any meaning anymore, and they brought back close to 30 characters with no explanations.

They'd also hit a wall; you can't top "The battle to end all battles for the rest of time and determine the fate of existence." a reboot doesn't have to have just the original 7; I was always under the impression that the Mortal Kombat tournament on Shang Tsung's island hosted dozens of warriors, and that the main 7 were just the ones you got to play as.

The great thing about a reboot is now they can pick one explanation and stick to it. I'd like to see in a reboot a thorough explanation of characters who's origins were vague at best (MKD both gives the explanation that Shao Kahn served Onaga and that Shao Kahn was Outworld's Raiden, and a God...lame.)

A reboot could also serve to strengthen our knowledge of the characters relationships with each other. There were always vague hints dropped about random things, such as a deep distruts between Shao Kahn and Shinnok. I'd like to see stuff like that explored thoroughly.

the gameplay IS 2D already.. Until somebody sidesteps. I know yea whatever its technecally 3d. But its not based on 3d. U move forward and back. you have to go out of your way to impliment 3d fighting. only used for dodging really.

the gameplay is fine at 2.5d so leave it. Ive heard enough of this bs. lets just make it a PSN game for $5.99 while were at it. Its the new age of gaming and 3d is where its going to be regardless of what we care. If we want the series to be as successful as it can. We gott ajust hope they can get it right with 3d.

SF4 is amazing. But i still get that feel like its a game that hasnt evolved much, not that it has to. But it feels the same as playing SF2. I want some evolution and depth.
