MK9 Or Shaolin Monks 2?

For me it's SM2. Even if it doesn't revolve around MK3, a SM-like adventure game would be more exciting to me (on the condition that 3 or more females are playable).
With the success of Shaolin Monks, I'm surprised they didn't rush into making a sequel.
If they don't make another adventure game, I hope MK9 features some kind of adventure mode like the one in MKA except better... much better since that was total garbage.

I'd love to see an adventure game featuring Kenshi. That would be really fun. As a second playable character you could have.....hmmm, never mind
But still, I'd rather have an MK8 that continues where MKA left off. Maybe if another team worked on an adventure game as a side project.

something like SM, but maybe expand upon the co-op thing, with more playable characters in adventure.
I was all ready to jump in and say "MK8", but I started wondering something.
MKA left the story in a VERY strange place. If they continue from there, there is a LOT of storytelling that is going to need to take place to explain a lot of occurances. A regular fighter might be able to do that, but I think an adventure/story based game would do it a lot better.
Sooo...what if the next adventure game turned out to be a tie-in game to coincide with MK8 when it came out? Much in the same way that Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero explained the backstory of MK4?
You could even tease some of the MK fans out there by having a little demo video of MK8 on the disk.

Agreed. I don't want it to be about the "shaolin monks" again either. I want it to focus on a team of heroes instead:
Liu Kang
Kung Lao
Sonya
Sub-Zero
Kitana
Jade
Raiden
Jax
and Johnny Cage
Maybe even Stryker and Nightwolf because they were also MK3 heroes, but hopefully not cuz they're lame.
Yeah, like at least 8 - 10 playable characters would be satisfying as long as at least 3 are girls.
Scorpion, Reptile, and other neutral or villain characters can be unlockable.

Which do I want more?...hm.
I want a great story. That probably looks more like an adventure game next, rather than the fighting game.
Yea, that's interesting cuz either way...

Shaolin Monks 2 plz.
Its my favourite of the whole "Roam around and beat up people" games. It was just condensed awesome.
My only criticism is the fact they could have had you play as anyone for story or VS mode but chose to limit it.
Plus it would allow more development time for MK9.

MK9, easily. I already know the story of MK3 and how everything worked out.

Both but they could actually be one in the same for me. I'll explain myself.
I don't mind the next chapter in Mortal Kombat to be an adventure game because I think Shaolin Monks was an enjoyable game while the Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon left a bit to be desired for me. But on the other hand I felt the way the writers went with story in Shoalin Monks was a bit less desirable, while I like where they went with the story in Deadly Alliance and Deception.
Though I do think it would be interesting to see what other ideas the developers would have as far a as technicality goes to make a fun adventure game. Story as well. I love an enthralling story. So I guess I might say I would rather an action oriented game instead of a fighting game but I don't really want it to be "Shaolin Monks 2", I want it to be its own thing while still being Mortal Kombat.

Don't adventure or action-adventure games sell better than fighting games?
I think it'll be a great way to revive MK plus draw in new fans since that genre is more appealing.

I'll take the first Shaolin Monks FINALLY being compatible with my 360 please.
Aside from that, I want a new MK fighting game. Actually, I want that first and foremost.
The adventure game can come from the studio that made it (I can't remember the developer's name but I know that it wasn't Boon's team) in 2010 and that would be just fine with me.
Of course, saying that would mean that the next MK fighting game is coming out this year and well, that doesn't even remotely seem likely.

well i have read almost all of the comments and i think that the best idea would be to mix both of them.
here's what i say:
have a free rome co-op story mode
have more then 15 playable characters
bring back the mini-games( e.g. chess kombat, puzzle kombat and motor kombat)
and finaly KEEP SCORPIONS MK VS DC COSTUME
