These are not in order, but these are my top 12 from MK4-MKD.

1. Bo Rai' Cho
Teacher of Liu Kang and Kung Lao, he's a key character that can't be forgotten due to his fart jokes. He has a lot of potential story-wise, and he could be implemented with his drunken fighting style mixed with the use of his cane.

2. Fujin
God of Wind that plays a key role in the story since Raiden has opened up a new path and changed the future. He may or may not agree with Raiden's methods, but it would be nice to see how he fits into this story.

3. Havik
With Raiden's sudden changes and Kahn's defeat at hand, Havik would be fed by this chaos and ally himself with whoever would fuel it.

4. Hotaru
As the face of Order, he would counter Havik's actions somehow. I like the idea of the Seido and Chaosrealm and I don't think they should be retconned into Oblivion.

5. Drahmin
Love this character design and feel he shouldn't be overlooked. With the presence of the Netherrealm as a central focus with Shinnok and Quan Chi at the helm, he would be a welcome addition as the deceased warlord.

6. Tanya
Who could forget this Edenian bitch?

7. Reiko
Could potentially be a new leader for Kahn's forces in Outworld.

8. Nitara
Never really got a good glimpse at Nitara's origins, hopefully there will be more explained, given she's included.

9. Frost
With this altered timeline, she could start off as Sektor the Grandmaster's apprentice. He could take advantage of the darkness in her heart.

10. Li Mei
Liked her dragon inspiration, just give her some pants and work it from there. Even though Outworld may not be the focus this time around, I still like to see rebelling Outlanders.

11. Shujinko
A lot of people consider him unoriginal, but I feel like he's vital to the lore of the franchise now. The old wise fool that brought on the end of everything. And instead of giving him copy+pastes of other character's moves, he should get different variations of them.

12. Sareena
She's vital to the story of Sub-Zero and Sub-Zero, and I feel like she could play a role in bringing back Kuay Liang's humanity back and attempt to bring back Bi Han's.

You know, all new characters from MK 4-MKD most-likely will make the MK 2014 roster.
