I'm kinda surprised this hasn't been posted yet. I looked through the front page pretty thoroughly, but if I missed it, then my apologies.

Anyhoo, SRK posted an interview from Machinima this morning. A lot of it is what we've already heard (with some nice comments about the franchise as a whole), but Ed makes a very suggestive comment regarding Raiden in a counterpicking example.

Granted, it may have just been that: an example. A "what if." However, the way he says doesn't make it sound hypothetical at all. It sounded like a slip of the tongue to me.

I'll let you guys make your own conclusions, and again, if this has been posted, just close the shit out of this thread.

Good find. We expected Raiden but this may be an indicator that he's not the boss. Boon likes playable bosses, but if he's guarding the identity of the new boss, he's unlike to just his inclusion slip
I expect Raiden, and really never expect him to be the boss. That would be strangely lame, same with Liu, as a boss it'll be lame. Since Ferra/Torr is so large, I hope the boss is even larger than him.

I was just gonna post about this. Some nice new gameplay footage in there. Cassie in her "Hollywood" shades and Sub slamming the ground and Ice vapour expanding out. I'm so hyped yo!

Ed Boon is not entirely good at keeping secrets.

He knows how to troll and stall, but he tends to wear secrets on his sleeve. He also made this mistake with Ferra, referring to her as a little girl, before he quickly corrected himself.

Cassie looks cool in her aviators. I might just use Hollywood solely for the glasses.

(I guess that is one thing that sucks about the whole Variations thing. If I wanted shades on Cassie I'd be restricted to just Hollywood. Instead of being able to customize her and put the glasses on any variation.)

He's made the same suggestion during another one of the E3 interviews (can't remember which one).

I don't take it as a confirmation that Raiden is in so much as a confirmation that they've probably been trying to figure out what to do with Raiden concerning this game (got some raiden stuff still on the brain).

Raiden is also an easy departure (and "safe" default) from all the ninja and new character stuff that they still can't really talk about yet.

I wouldn't go into every detail like that. Everyone can say something wrong. A lot of people would misspeak themselves. It's easily to see a dwarf/midget and think "little person" / "little girl" / "little boy". And that is just what that was. Not everything he needs to correct is a secret that got out.
And why is it for some people apparantly so important that she has to be a little girl instead of a dwarf/midget?! It's obviously an inspiration to Master Blaster from the third Mad Max movie. And guess what... giant/old midget combination.

I agree with you completely in that he can simply misspeak and correct himself ; but don't take anyone's assumptions that she's a girl as a preference that she were one (ugh). Had a young girl been actually present in MK it would have raised a LOT of eyebrows; especially given what she's wearing.

I'm relieved Ed clarified that she's a literal 'little lady'; the notion that she might have actually been an adolescent girl kind of had me floored in disbelief. I thought they were trying to go back to playing the old controversy card.

I really want to see a mentally unstable Raiden. Not the angry Dark Raiden from the past, but one who's own demons have tormented him ever since he started messing with the timeline, causing the deaths of Liu Kang and countless others. That would be pretty neat. Maybe Fujin could be filling in for Raiden, as he tries to bring him back from his madness.

I've been thinking of ways to make Raiden interesting for me again, and I got nothing. Unlike many people, Raiden wasn't ruined for me in the MK9 storyline. In my eyes, he was dumb because the plot needed him to be dumb for it go its chosen direction.

I'm guessing it started around the time MK4 came out, but Raiden just hasn't been interesting to me for a very long time, which is weird because in MK1, Raiden was my main. I didn't become a Sub-Zero player until the latter days of MK2 (Reptile was my main at launch).

See, this should be a thing in my eyes: Beat arcade mode? Unlock costume customization for that character, or rather a costumization mode in general. It'd be nice and wouldn't be a big deal since once the match starts, you can see which variation you've both chosen anyway.

I loved Raiden in Deadly Alliance. His voice was so fucking badass! Not to mention how his character was in that game. That's how raiden should always sound and act. Does anyone know who voiced him? I've looked everywhere and can't find out. wow
