Zombie Liu Kang was fuqn cool. Then they re-incarnated him and I lost all interest. That's a lot of the reason I'm anti-kang now.

100% Liu Kang! Imo.

Liu has always been to play as gameplay wise, his costume and personality has always been sub par (minus the movie), but come on hes super fun to play as.

Hes quick, makes awesome fighting noises, and a well timed bicycle kick is pure epicness.

man i really dont like all of these dead characters coming back. like wtf is the point of killing them in the last game you're just gonna bring them back? the plus side to them dying on the last game was that it was alot of the boring characters that got killed off (with the exception of a few). i'll say this tho, i don't mind Kung Lao and Kitana coming back because theyre kinda mysterious and have some nice moves. but really don't want to see Liu Kang, Sonya, Johnny Cage, or Jax back. time to make room for some new heroes.

just seems like theyre repeating what made the original timeline kind of lame with death not meaning anything. thought they wanted to fix that this time around. anyway i'm fine with dead characters being DLC though. just not on the main roster.

It's not a hipster thing, not everyone that doesn't like a character has to follow trends for the sake of popularity or be racist.

I don't dislike Liu Kang (he isn't one of my favs either, but I respect him as a classic MK champion) but I can see why a lot of people might dislike him.

Unlike other characters with "signature" stuff that gives them more personality, Liu Kang is more of a "just a great fighter", even though he really has powers related to chi and fire, but the kind of powers he uses are considered bland too (fireballs for everyone, everywhere). Kung Lao comming from the same place looks like he is way more unique than Liu Kang for example.

The other thing that probably people don't like about him is that he's the "Mary Sue" kind of hero, as for a long time it was always him who took all the merit for deafeating whoever was threatening earthrealm. He was perfect and couldn't lose. Some people dislike perfectly powerful characters.

So the combination of not too much "personal flavor" and being a "Mary Sue hero" can probably get into some people's minds as they're forced to see what they consider a bland character taking all the merit all the time. At least that's why I think they don't like him.

If Liu Kang returns in a similar fashion to his MK9 ending, I'm sure a lot of players will change their opinion as that was way more badass than his usual incarnation.

About Jax, the first time he appeared he was just a strong guy, fighting against super powered guys, he had ZERO unique skills or personal flavor (unless we enter tabu territory and say the dreadful word is the only thing that made him special back then).

Then the robot arms were added so at least he had something unique but maybe the damage was already done and many people to this day still see him as the "token -insert_tabu_word- character" with not much personality while Cyrax for exame with less screentime got way more fans than Jax and didn't receive that adjective as his tragic story and powerset were far greater than Jax's. Aditionally story-wise Jax has always been really bland, always being Sonya's lapdog without his own agenda and his time to shine in his own game is considered one of Midway's lowest points.

One thing I liked during MK9 is that Netherealm clearly saw MK2 Jax without robot arms shouldn't be strong enough to fight superpowered guys and in his "flesh arms" costumes he has cybernetic enhancers to give him more strength too.

Not worried about liu kang being in, im scared for Fujin. Liu's chances are like 90%. Fujin's is like 50.

Liu was ok in MKD, but his design could have been way better and he could have used them chains.

Best Fatality of his for me is the Fatal Uppercut and his MK9 X-ray was sweet.

He'll be at his best in MKX a long with the Fatal Uppercut!
