They're one of the few that it would actually make sense for.

However, they're two of the biggest staples of the series and I can't see either being replaced in MKX or in the future. Not until we at least know what has been happening between them over these past years.

i don't see it. They make it seem like awkward tension, like they wanna fuck but got bigger things to worry about. A wink here and there.

In MK9 it seemed (to me) that Liu Kang was only flirting with Kitana while she paid him no mind until the end. Not much of a romance.

I have a feeling it they do add Liu Kang in MKX, Kitana will be too busy either trying to kill Quan Chi or restore/break free Edenia from Outworld to pay any attention to him.

Well,I am kind of excited to see interaction between Kitana and Kung Lao (I don't think it is a coincidence that these two got revealed together), just like in MK Deadly Alliance when these two wanted to avenge Liu's death and trained with Bo Rai Cho. But in this case, I must admit it will be intriguing if these two team up to clash against Liu Kang who is not the monk we used to know.

But Kitana and Liu Kang having a baby is still possible, depending on if they both reject Raiden as their ally now,because if one of them is on Raiden's team and the other is not,I don't think they will have a smooth relationship. Personally, I always kinda saw Kitana with Kung Lao,so maybe in this timeline things are different for her (I would definitely would want to see offspring of Kitana and Kung Lao, both parents wield some razor sharp objects,I only can imagine their combined talents in that kid,haha)

Nope not a wasted opportunity. Let Liu Kang pass in peace and good ol' Kung Lao console Kitana in his absence and then maybe possibly they could have a child...but if his name is liu kang in memory of their friend n former lover...just dont
