I am thinking outside the box to make it 48 characters with the regular cast and DLC. I would say 36 characters for the main game and 12 DLC characters to make it 48 total. Then now the Komplete Edition is complete.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment thinking that; Boon and NRS have said countless times that the main roster will be as many as MK9 "if not a little bigger", so that's between 28-30.
DLC won't be more than 8. Total between 36-38 (maybe 40 at a push if by surprise we get 32 main roster) characters and with all the time and work that goes into each one I think that we can't really expect more than that from NRS.
Besides if we had 48 the roster would be bloated, because that's almost half of the whole backlog of characters in MK history. Would anyone want 48 characters if 12 of them ones no one wanted, no absolutely not.
Hell why stop at 48? There's over 100 characters that have been in different MK products, why not bring in characters like Tiamut the failed concept hulk version of Reptile, Zebron, Hornbuckle, Lucifer, Sylence, Torque, Vapor, Zaggot, the bird guy from Conquest, generic Tarkatan warrior #22 from the MK9 invasion scene where Jax gets knocked out, Phlox the fan-made ninja, and the hugely loved Mystery Woman from Jades MK9 ending and Surgeon Guy from Kabal's MK9 ending? I mean why even stop there, DC characters were in an MK game so lets include all the characters from MK vs DC too; such as MK fan favourite Darkseid and why not have Dark Kahn as the main villain of MK X with Freddy Krueger & Kratos as sub-bosses?! Yeahh that'll help the game sell real good, just think why only have 48 characters making the roster bloated, when we could have 158 after having 128 DLC characters...

yeah I doubt that. pretty sure we'll have like 8 dlc characters, but i have 0 clue how many will be on disc. i'm guessing around 30.
