Lets discuss Ermac

I am aware that Ermac is not confirmed for the game yet but the bERnie MAC and Big M (BigMac?) posts have gotten people talking.

One of the hot topics concerning Ermac's future is that King Jerrod's soul is one of the many souls within him. I have voiced my opinion on it multiple times on this site and to keep it simple, im ok with it as long as it doesn't mean Ermac will eventually become more Jerrod and less Ermac.

There isn't too much suggesting that this will be the case, but as a fan of Ermac, I cant help but worry that something of the sort might happen. I would be very disappointed if Jerrod becomes the dominate soul and Ermac pretty much becomes King Jerrod.

So what's your opinion on Ermac? Do you want him to return? If so, what would you like to see done with him? What role would you like him to have in the story?

He's awesome
Yes I want him back
I want him to wreck shit and kick ass
I'd like to see him follow his MKD storyline and seek redemption, most likely through helping the surviving heroes in the Netherrealm War (since they're gonna need all the help they can get, obviously) and possibly be involved in the Outworld Civil War

I despise that Jerrod angle and while i think he's a cool character, i couldn't care less if he doesn't make it in MKX.

I'm glad that fan art by one of the artists at NRS is not what he'd look like if he came back.

@Spider804: Same, I wouldn't mind something like that. I wouldn't mind seeing him be recruited by Raiden to help with the Netherrealm war, but I do like him as a bad guy as well grin

As long as he looks like that concept art and as long as they present him as badass they did in MK9, he's fine in my book.

I for one hope Ermac has the split personalities thing going for him this time around and I do hope that Jerrod is one of them. I agree with you in the fact I don't want the character to become more Jerrod than Ermac, I hope he stays looking and playing the way he is, but adding in little regal elements to his style, his personality, wouldn't be a bad thing. I hope, if anything, it makes him a little more unhinged. Maybe all the souls are self-aware they that are dead/were murdered and are angry about it. Not necessarily looking for vengeance like Scorpion, but maybe fueling the characters desires, making him stronger.

I think the 'Big Mac' hint from the Big screenshot tweet is not what Boon meant people to decipher from that picture. The song they play on the piano is 'Heart and Soul' which would still relate back to Ermac with the whole soul thing.

@KenshiMaster16: That's kind of what im hoping for. I am fine with Jerrod being in there, but I think it would be cool if all of those souls he is comprised of were fighting for dominance which could make him somewhat of a wild card , and also cause some internal conflict within the character.

I also hope he has the design from the art work, or something like it. His design in MKD and MK9 weren't really all that good.

I don't think the Jerrod thing will come into play. All the way through MK9 story-mode, he was on the bad side or neutral. I wouldn't be intrigued if he turned good as it wouldn't really fit his character.

Hope he doesn't have another rehashed Telekinesis Slam or anything like his MK9 fatalities...blah, imo.

His MKD design was fucking awesome, and I loved his alt in MK9.

I don't really mind Ermac being in the game, I guess it's kind of expected. I hope he becomes good and fights for Earthrealm this time around. He's sort of a free agent at this point tho

I rather liked the Jerrod angle. I feel that with Ermac having a really good design track record, they've got a bit of wiggle room to really experiment with him.

It'd blow my mind if he came back totally made over, looking much more regal to put emphasis on Jerrod's presence, far removed from most traces of the old ninja aesthetic. Total shot in the dark, but what if that weapon connected to boot 6 was some kind of royal Edenian staff, something he channeled his telekinetic abilities through? Probably not, but they'd have guts to take it that far.

Please no to being King Jerrod, that would suck. Ermac is at his coolest as an enigma. And I'm not that big of a fan of that 'leaked' image of him where he looks like a scarecrow. I don't hate it I just don't really like it. I like him a little more ninja lookin and less mummy/rag doll looking.

Don't forget, Kenshi was able to free him from Kahn's control and turned him into a force for good in the old timeline. With Kahn now dead, I'd say it's now more likely than ever.

If he's in, my thoughts:

NO to the scarecrow fan art. Looked too Undead for my taste.

YES to the Jerrod angle. He would still be Ermac, only Jerrod would be influencing him more than the evil souls of the past Ermac. No change in moveset or visuals, just that he'd want to act a little bit more like Jerrod and protect his family, Edenia and it's allies.

I sincerely hope they DO NOT pursue the Jerrod route with Ermac. I hate that idea with every fibre of my being. It's a shitty, tacky way for NRS to shoehorn a long dead, unimportant character back into existence. Ermac should remain an evil collection of souls created by Shao Kahn for the sole purpose of fucking shit up. I don't understand why every character needs depth, what's so wrong with being an enforcer?

The leaked art isn't too bad, I could work with it. I really hope to see them do something along the lines of what they did with his MK9 alternate, that is my favorite design for Ermac to date. That hooded look fits him to me.

ermac is in my top 3 but not because of his story. i liked his ties to shang and kenshi but thats about it. he is a fucking badass and probably the most fun to play in mk9. i dont want him to be guided by one soul, we are many bro. i'd like to see some ridiculous split personality shit.

The Jerrod stuff could also be cool in opening dialogues with Kitana and even Sindel if she makes the roster.
