posted01/25/2011 09:21 PM (UTC)bysaiZeroWe all know Netherealm Studios is trying to get closer and more personal with its fans. MKast. Now Video MKasts....
So for the next crossover they should step it up and let the fans vote for their favorite characters and stages.
For example each person gets to choose their top favorite 5 characters and stages... but to keep things a surprise, no one can see the results of the poll except Netherealm Studios.
The only thing that sucks is "cheaters" on the votes.
But let's pretend people don't suck like that. Hows that idea sound?

Nope. Last time the fans got what they wanted we got MKArmageddon, the worst MK to date because they literally put everything in it that fans wanted. They even went as far as Kreate a Kharacter to cater to fans. Yikes.
And for the record, MK Trilogy was the last good MK with solid fighting mechanics, after jumping into 3D, MK's fighting mechanics have never been the same. There's a reason the team lost the casual MK audience and it's because MK was never as easy to control or simply as fun to play as it was in its 2D days.
My vote. Don't do a cross over. It's a cheap gimmick and always has been and I think is something that people are going to get tired of real soon.
Stick to MK, if they want to spice it up, crossover genres.

o just face it no other fighting will ever let mk cross over withthem and be rated m not Street fighter not / tekken /marvel/ soul caliber/ i mean i would not mind a cross over but they wont let the game be m rated
Well I don't want to see super heroes again, and I think it would be more epic if they went with another fighting series so I say Street Fighter. Even though they are both really different I think people wan the argument to be settled now.
Anyway. I think this idea of fans voting is pretty dumb, because even if one gets a high vote there is a good chance that it won't happen. Mortal Kombat wanted to do a crossover for years and it wasn't until 2007 that warner bros asked them to do a dcu crossover. My point is that even if fan votes are high there is more to getting the lisense for the franchise they want to crossover with. If fans want killer instinct then good luck with that. The series has been dead for over a decade, and it would take a lot of sweet talking to convince RARE. The other problem with getting a fighting game franchise is most of them are japaneese and it might be hard to communicate and they have different philoshy's on making fighting games. If they pick a non fighting franchise I think it would be tough to get that license as well. Marvel is taken by capcom. Star wars is taken by soul calibur, Dragon ball z has there own fighting series. What else is there? So the only one open is really DC, and we already saw the backlash of that game.

Primal Rage, Psi-Ops, The Sufffering, Pit Fighter and Killer Instinct
also they can pull a Marvel Nemesis and just make up characters to crossover with.

100% agree. MK needs to stick with MK without anymore crossovers. MK fighters with SFIV graphics, makes me puke a lil just thinkin bout it

I just want the ever elusive MKvsSF to happen (maybe have a KI feature or two within that game). Don't really care to see any of the other titles mixing it in with MK.
As for the idea, MK really already does this. We did a fan-based MKast ourselves that I sent off to them myself and well... just look at the coming MK. It's beautiful! There were attempts prior to "The Assessment" MKast that I conducted but I'm just saying they see us, and take our input into account every single game. Actually, it's been that way since like...MK2.

Honestly I'm not too worried about MKT's numerous broken infinities when considering the gameplay, but you are right. UMK3 was much more superior than MKT design wise. MKT was probably made over one weekend, but yet it's controls and response are smoother than any of its successors. In MKvsDC I could care less that Superman could groundpound til the cows came home, because I didn't even want to pick up the controller the gameplay was so slow. I just want fast frame timed kombat again and no gimmicks. And really when it comes down to it, i don't care if they have a crossover with the carebears, if they find a way for MK to feel like it once did on a new engine - then I'm all aboard.

I am really not all for crossovers. I am not too big on the thought of MK vs SF either but if it happened I would probably be curious and at least try it. I find it funny how many other M rated fighting games get forgotten that could be crossed over. Games like Kasumi Ninja,Eternal Champion,Iron & Blood,Bloody Roar and War Gods to name some of them. Also technically a crossover does not have to be the same genre either. MK could crossover with a TV franchise like Robot Chicken or Celebrity Death Match and still keep an M rating. Not that I would choose them to crossover with lol...although its not that bad of an idea considering the sense of dark humor that comes from those shows. Would be a bit odd to see MK characters made out of clay and/or action figures in a game but it would be crazy no doubt lol. I just named them for examples though.
In any case...I really would rather MK crossed over with Killer Instinct if anything. I understand how people would like to put Mk & SF together but I would think SF would work better with other cartoon fighters like Fatal Fury,Art of Fighting and Dragonball Z. I really don't know why they keep making Marvel vs Capcom games...I would rather see Marvel vs DC Universe but that would probably never happen.

I would love to see Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter. They don't have to take out fatalities. They could do it like they're doing Street Fighter x Tekken. Make two versions of the game. Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter plays like MK, with fatalities, blood, the MK design style for characters and MK style selection/arcade mode screens(a tower). Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat would play like an SF game, no blood or fatalities, the SF style of character design, and the SF style selection screens/arcade mode(map of the world).
As a fanboy my world isn't complete until both Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs. DC are in existence.
