Well that just may be because Ferra & D'vorah have a history or because she's obviously the leader of the two. I'm sure they'll say both of their names

But in deception, Noob-Smoke was announced while the portrait had both, maybe the portrait of Ferra will have torr along with her, so torr obviously needs to have his name announced too :P

I legitimately got a kick out of Ferra yelling "My turn!" before she started slashing. I thought it was funny. The idea of what appears to be a small child in MK amuses me.

This. Otherwise what the hell is the point of having tag characters if only one will be acknowledged by the announce?

Or the announcer could easily just say "Ferra and Torr wins."

I can just hear people raging during online game play and yelling "Fucking Ferra!" before rage quitting.

Honestly I'm partial to Ferra being the "main" character--the only one having an identity.

Would be cool for Torr to be considered a completely dependent non-person until Ferra's ending, where he rebels and kills her.

These two characters are very weird looking female characters.... they aren't made for cute-ness or sex appeal like those girls in Street Fighter or Tekken

They're made to creep us out and thats why i love MK. So much freaking variety with their female characters.

D'vorah (sp?) is pretty cool. Fits the character.

Ferra and Torr, however, sounds like something you'd watch on Cartoon Network.

Actually, if they're from Chaosrealm like I suspect they are, I bet that's exactly what their names would turn out to be.

weeeell maybe i exaggerated but some variety is still there.

They have a black chick, 4 armed monster who is a bit masculine, a girl with teeth problems, and an old ass Queen who screams (As we know, Tekken likes to retire their old ladies in their main games ex Jun, Michelle). These are things that are not common to find in other fighting games EDIT: and now we have a hideous bug-like chick and a demented minion-riding girl <3

D'Vorah said in her intro "You offend this one Ferra". And the little girl was the one to reply to her. So since we already know that characters will talk to each other in their intros, I guess that is proof that Ferra is the little girl. Plus, she looks like the brain who does the talking. The guy looks like he does the fighting. Didn't look like the type of guy who would keep a conversation long enough to offend D'Vorah :P

Pretty sure he was talking about body types. And except for Sheeva all the girls have the same one.

Name meanings

Ferra
(Middle English) means Pleasant, Lovely One = seems ironic

Torr
(Old English) means Tower = very fitting

They said Ferra was the girl but, to all those that said it was nonsense for Ferra to be the brute:

Ferra could a derivated from Ferrum, latin for Iron. A name derivated from iron would feat a giant brute perfectly and there are many masculine names that end with an "a".

I'd actually be more down with the duo if the brute was the female and the midget be the male. Not that I'm not down with the duo, I really like these new guys. But it would be a real shocker to see that the female was actually the tower just for the reactions people will make after discovering that.

I'd be down with that. Totally subvert peoples expectations, Samus Aran style. Do wonders for the women-in-MK issue too

You know what would be really awesome? If Torr was actually someone we knew. Like, maybe Ferra brought Shao Kahn back from the dead and has enslaved him to be her personal bodyguard (hence Torr's mask). I'm not saying that this is the case, I'm just saying that that would be funny as heck.
