Would you like one or both of these characters in the game?

What do you hope for them if they make it into the game?

I really can't wait for Shalazar, his name is awesome and I hope its the next reveal with the bow, he would be awesome with the bow weapon! Imagen the fatalities he could preform with it!

Kung Jin I hope is only for the series and not for the game, don't need another Kung Lao related character, and why I get the feeling that this turns out to be a boring Fei Long (streetfighter) type of character?

I also dislike the name, with Kung Lao already in the game, it would be foolish to put another Kung into the game, maybe like his uncle he has a strange cloth-like weapon, maybe a living Ittan-Momen (japanese living cotton monster that loves to strangle humans) around his neck that helps him in battle. (yes, i'm being sarcastic!)

Hope they skip this Kung Lao wannabe and add in Shalazar!

Both. This game is anchored on the next generation of fighters. It's time to start introducing them.

Well I hope they come up with more non-human, non-child of old characters in the game.

I mean Ferra, D'vorah, Kotal and this Shalazar sound all new and refreshing, but Kung Jin sounds like they were out of ideas.

i'm really for more new fighters, but please keep them original and not Kung Jin's.

Silly comment. You haven't SEEN the character. He could have a totally different look and specials from Kung Lao, and maybe his own unique signature to set him apart just like Kung Lao has his hat. Plus, Kung Jin has a really cool bio/story IMO. Yes, it's derivative of Liu Kang's story in the original MK movie but that is a good thing because that was a good backstory for a character. I like the story of a guy who immigrates to America from Asia due to troubles in the family, becomes street wise, and then is led back to more traditional ways by Raiden.

Sorry but this story sound boring and uninspired, 100% like Liu Kang whom I never liked at all.

I'd be fine with them on the roster as long as they're not copies of Kung Lao and Kano, respectively.

Jin's gameplay shouldn't involve sharp hats in anyway, in fact, you shouldn't even be able to connect him to Kung Lao just by looking at him. Someone unfamiliar with MK wouldn't immediatly assume Sindel is Kitana's mother. Kotal Kahn doesn't seem to have anything in common with Shao besides the Kahn name/title, and being tall. That's how different from Lao Jin should be.

Same for Salazar. No metallic infra-red eye, no cannonball, no Australian accent, no heart rip fatality, no similarities to Kano whatsoever beyond the backstory.

How young is Jin supposed to be? Because being Lao's cousin, he'd have to be barely a teen to eventually succeed him twenty-five years later.

Shalazar has no connection to Kano other than being a mercenairy, he's probably the one being revealed next with the bow weapon.

Kung Jin is the only cousin around of the two.

I have four problems with Kung Jin:

1) His boring name which is much like Kung Lao
2) Another cousin or relative, we already have so many counting the comic.
3) His story is much like Liu Kang, this sounds like they want to give Kung jin his storyline of being the forever hero.
4) He gives me creeps, like really, I think he's going to be the new Li Mei of the series, the tekken-like character and/or Fei Long.

Idk about this Salazar, dude doesn't sound like somebody I would like, but ill wait until I see the character before judging.

Kung Jin sounds more likeable to me, but who knows I might hate him lol I need to see these guys a bit before I can say.

I love how everyone ignores Ron Tan Cho when they make topics about the new characters. Is his name that bad??

I also thought about it. I don't think it fits for a weapon master. Salazar sounds like fun and could fit in the world from mk.. but.. Kung Jin.. not :)

"Amazing weaponry skills" implies he's skilled at using weapons, not just making or selling them. Otherwise, that would have been worded differently.

Not interested in Kung Jin since Kung Lao is supposed to be the Las descendant of the great Kung Lao. He shouldn't even exist imo. Not here for Salazar either tbh. We already have a mercenary weapons guy and if they needed another then they should've redone Kira.

Their descriptions don't do them any justice. Hopefully seeing them in action would erase the the first impression.

Um, his story is like the MOVIE version of Liu Kang. In the games, Liu Kang is a straight up monk and fisherman living in China when the events of the first game swing into action. That stuff about him living in America, Raiden bringing him back home etc. only happened in the films.

1. I don't get this. Is "Cassie Cage" too much like "Johnny Cage" because they have the same family name? Because it's the same goddamn thing, guys. This argument is thoroughly pointless. It was more of a problem that the Sub-Zero Bros. did not share a family name.

2. Do we? So far the only one relative we have in the game is Cassie. Takeda is a strong possibility. If -- and this is a big "if" so far -- Jaqui from the comic is in, we have three. Kung Jin would make four.

Out of 24, possibly more, total characters.

One out of every six characters mentioned so far is a relative... at most, because we only have one confirmation. 1/6 is too many? For the actual "next generation" of Mortal Kombat?

3. Pretty sure they've done away with "forever champions" ever since they killed Liu in Deadly Alliance. Ever since then, we've seen each game have a central character of its own: Shujinko, Taven, Raiden in MK9. Maybe Kung Jin could be the central character of MKX? There's so much going on in MKX that I'm not sure if there would be one at all, and if there is, I'm putting my money on Cassie, who is billed as the face of the new generation.

4. Fei Long? The Bruce Lee/movie star guy? I don't see how this, or Li Mei, or Tekken have anything to do with Kung Jin, who is described as a streetwise thief-turned-monk who has joined up with the Special Forces. The only thing that gives me the creeps here is how people draw these kinds of conclusions.

Kano isn't exactly a weapons guy. He sells them, but he never actually uses anything but a knife and a laser eye; he's generally a hands-on kind of fighter. Kano is a thug; Salazar is a weapons artist.

I do agree that Kira deserves to revamped as a freelancing military weapons expert, though. Selling weapons to terrorists was her whole thing before joining the new Black Dragon, and I can see her really living up the role of scary-badass gadgety gun chick -- Cassie Cage with a darker, more ruthless, more sinister attitude and more hardware.

What's wrong with the name of Kung Jin in a game that's filled with parodies and stereotypes? May I remind you about the first game where it was like, hardcore parody city?

My only gripe is that I hope he doesn't become a bland character. But I'm sure that's not going to be a problem since I haven't seen anyone too bland besides Cassie. And the only reason why is she hasn't done really anything too impressive unlike these other characters. Her x-ray is a bit ball bustingly cool, but other than that, she's not really a striking character for me.

I really don't want him to be like a Liu Kang wannabe if there's a chance Liu won't return for this game.

Kung Lao
Kung Jin.

If you don't see why I have a problem with that you're blind, probably.

Also what the other guy said, Kung Lao should be the LAST descendant, now suddenly there is this boring Kung Jin human.

Hope he's not in the game.

And 4 out of 24 is much... 3 would be enough ,especially when their papa's and mama's join the fray to spoil the rooster even further.
