Update: she has guns.

her X-ray is pistol whipping you in the face with the butt of the gun's handle so hard it breaks your jaw. if you are a male, she follows up with a groin attack which destroys and rips the muscle tissue and your balls.

We have balls.

Oh god...this game is actually going to make me uncomfortable!

I don't think her Xray will be shown.

I'm curious about something and since it's related to Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, to save board space, I'll ask here.

According to the rules of Mortal Kombat, the champion would not age. MK9 had Liu Kang as champion, but he was probably burnt to death by Raiden. First, if Liu Kang is temporarily immortal, how did Raiden flame killed him? Raiden is a god, doesn't make sense for him to carry the title of Mortal Kombat champion. So does that means, it falls on Sonya and/or Johnny to be Mortal Kombat champion. One of the duties as champion, is to help train the heroes for the next tournament. So, fitting that Sonya and Johnny train Cassie. But does that mean they are also temporarily immortal and therefore still the same age?

However, I still am holding out some hope that Sonya will be in the game Cassie doesn't have Sonya's trademark moves ie the leg grab and rising bicycle kick and Ed has hinted at performing fatalities on family members might be a possibility, sh here's hoping.

I too was wondering about that. This reminds me of that awful Xena fighting game for the N64. It would NOT allow Xena and Gabrielle to fight each other. And if the player tried to pick those characters, Gabrielle would be replaced with Hope. (For anyone who didn't watch that show, Hope was Gabrielle's demonic look-alike daughter.)

Wasn't Sonya around 35 plus years old, in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance? I remember she was in her late 20s in MK1. Seeing how MK: D A took place 10 years after MK1, and she was in still in good shape. So to me, an extra fifteen years wouldn't matter, therefore I hope Sonya is still in.

The whole Cassie Cage seems weird. In not only story mode in the Tobias era , nor Deadly Alliance to Armageddon era was it even implied that those two liked one another. Out of all the stuff that has come out of MK9, such as personalities and storyline errors , Cage and Sonya 's Cassie , to me out of place, at the same time possible. From what I've seen , she looks like a good fighter.

Liu Kang didn't age , since he was the champ. Liu Kang could always could have died at the hands of other fighters (see Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance intro). Also, Cage and Sonya would age since, they never won a championship of an MK tournament.

But with Raiden altering the past, it's possible that a change in events led to a moment where Sonya and Johnny saw each other in a different light. On top of that, all of their friends died. And being the only 2 survivors (not counting Raiden), I'd like to think the whole ordeal made them closer. So Cassie makes sense to me.

Ed boon pretty much confirmed either sonya or johnny, or possibly both. In an interview recently while on the subject of cassis cage the interviewer asked ed if he had thought about relatives performing fatalities on each other, to which ed responded by saying " you know what we thought of that aaand we'll probably just have em do it anyway"... So I believe he just indirectly confirmed either jc or so ya as a playable character

I think she was 29 in MK and 39 in DA

Actually, the MK1 comic confirmed that Sonya and Cage were 26 and 29 respectively, so they would be 36 and 39 in MKDA

I'm loving the love for Cassie, for she does look awesome. Hopefully she won't disappoint.

That being said: The more questions they ask Ed (and the team) about Cassie and Sonya, the more it sounds like Mama Blade (and Papa Cage) will make the cut as playable. I can see this happening (and hope for it to). Ed has (unintentionally?) hinted it more than once.

Their main iconic trademark moves are still quite absent (also the lack of the long pony tail and more Sonya-style moves/fatalities is a plus), and Cassie really feels like her very own character, not entirely a Sonya, not entirely a Johnny. She's a balanced half blend of both with more uniqueness than "clone".

Also, this look for the win:

A more personal question for you, queve:
If Sonya doesn't return, would you accept Cassie as her "replacement" in MKX, or maybe go for a completely other character?

Wow, I just saw this, Jaded. And what an interesting question!

Honestly, I don't think anyone could ever replace my favorite characters, but, I can definitely accept Cassie as a new favorite as long as she does justice to Papa Cage and Mamma Blade.

So far, I don't see how she could become my "new Sonya" as I haven't seen any of my favorite's classic moves in action. So far there is: No Leg Grab, no Energy Rings, no Kiss of Death, no Bicycle Kicks, no neck breaks, etc. The only thing we've seen are original variations of Sonya's dive kicks, Cartwheel attacks, and Air Leg grabs.

Cassie looks fun and a bit acrobatic, but, not as much as Sonya. They seem to have different styles. I prefer Sonya's. If there is another female (or even male) character who plays/looks/acts more in Sonya's style, well, he/she might get my vote over Cassie.

I think they are saving those main iconic moves and that fighting style for a reason. Hopefully that reason is that they still belong to Sonya. A playable Sonya ;)

I hope they are both OUT of the game forever.
I kinda liked Johnny's god-champion story, but Sonya blade is just a blond woman that is a cop and who is nothing special to me.

Streetfighter niveau.

They'll never be written out/ left out for good, you can keep wishing baby. They're first class and always will be, no matter how many reboots or new games or new characters come out. Worry about Devorah darling, you should be more concerned about her coming back after X, than complaining about iconic characters wink

A Kiss of Fire has now been revealed.

Sonya could still be using the poisonous Kiss Mist.

I'm pretty sure we will see lots of them. Cassie seems to be quite central atm, and lets not forget Sonya and Johnny were the two only survivors of the last game. Those two bitches deserve some lengthy epic screen time.
