YEAH.

Maybe in MK11 we can make Hsu Hao or Mokap the final boss too :D

Johnny Cage, one of Earth's greatest warriors and one of the only human heroes to have survived MK9, with an ending that if canonized would make him powerful enough to be the antagonist.

Hsu Hao, an henchman who died unceremoniously.

Mokap: a joke character based on a mocap guy.

Yeah, you've truly proven how goofy my idea is. That of course was sarcasm.

I'm pretty sure no one thought the man who trained Liu Kang would be a fat old drunk with gas before he was introduced in the series. Yet that is the case, and I'm supposed to believe a much less comical character with potentially vast power couldn't be the boss? Heh.

If the said figure is Liu Kang in the tower of the recent trailer and is the "Fire God" as to his ending, this would make your theory wrong.

Of course, but for now, that's nothing but speculation based on very flimsy evidence, none of the alternative endings have been confirmed canon, yet a lot of fans seem to think some of they're because reasons.

Even though Fire God Kang isn't compatible with MK9's ending, unless he got revived, his soul saved, and later the Elder gods made him a god to replace Raiden. And that's a lot to swallow.

Or, you know, he becomes resurrected similar to Noob Saibot only with fire powers thanks to Quan Chi and Shinnok and after they're taken out goes after Raiden on his own?

And that's not the fire god Liu Kang from the 2011 ending. That's my point.

Wasn't arguing that. Just saying there are other ways of going about it since it was "a lot to swallow."

An interesting theory, but I definitely prefer Cage as a hero. That being said I do hope some of his ending comes true, and learns new techniques to make him a more formidable defender of Earthrealm.

You gotta be kidding me, no way Johhny's the boss. It's always going to be an evil character and either:
A) A freak monster like Onaga & Goro OR
B) A king / emperor or god like Shao Kahn & Blaze OR
C) A wizard / sorcerer like Shang Tsung or Quan Chi

This leaves the chances for:
A) Goro, Baraka or Havik
B) Evil Lui Kang, Blaze or Shinnok
C) Shang Tsung

Agreed, although I believe it's either Liu Kang or Shang Tsung as the final boss.

The idea of killing Cage with every character to see their arcade ending truly depresses me. Even I have to admit though, it'd be a funny nod to his MK3-MK5 troubles.

So, what's people's idea of an unexpected boss around here? Let's bring up some of the ideas I've read on this forum.

Liu Kang? He'd be fresh I admit, but hardly the biggest surprise.

Next let's see, Shang Tsung? Isn't the boss supposed to be UNexpected? In what universe is Shang Tsung unexpected?

Goro? From sub-boss to boss, that's a little different, but it'd be like facing him as the final opponent in MK1 and 4, so not such a step-up.

Havik? One of the only fun and unexpected suggestions, so that's a start, but he's hardly at the same level of power as Shao Kahn, Onaga, or Shinnok, thus hardly more powerful than Johnny.

Mileena? Now that's probably the most surprising idea fans have come up with, but she was a woman-child and a jobber in MK9, so how is she more deserving of being the final boss than one of Earth's heroes?

Finally, how many here ever expected Blaze to be MKA's final boss? It's funny that people still treat Johnny like such a joke, when he's one of the only surviving heroes, and deemed enough of a big deal by NRS to be given a daughter, plus people clamoring for his MK9 ending to happen, an ending that made him a walking nuclear bomb yet he can't be the final boss? Heh.

I have said this time and time again the final boss may very well be Argus.

I don't think his MK9 ending was canon. Think about it, would Cassie have her cockiness and 'tude if she grew up under a powerful, tyrannical father? From what we see in the comics, it seems like she grew up under the Johnny that we've always known. I'd imagine Cassie would be a much more serious, grave character if she grew up with both a tyrannical Johnny AND a workaholic Sonya.

It would be an interesting concept, though. He would be the first sympathetic boss character in the series.

Johnny's power could awaken long after Cassie's birth, so Cassie would witness her dad's horrific transformation into a despot.

Johnny's power suddenly awakening could explain how the destroyed city got, well, destroyed. Johnny could have spent some of those 25 years in Seido learning to control his power.

I wish, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this bro. He was never playable and unknown as to be a fun returning character.

These characters are running for Main Boss status;

Liu Kang
Shinnok
Mileena
Shang Tsung
Havik
Shujinko
