I really think Jax is one character that can benefit of coming back as an older self. He is very strong, incredibly smart, calm, loyal, and has a pair of metallic arms that will never be defectful. An older Jax would be badass, tbh.

That said, while he is ine of my favorite characters, and having him coming back as an older version, being the mentor of Cassie, and all, i see a lot of people that want the story to move forward, having Johnny/Sonya being replaced by their daughter, etc. which, would require ALL the dead characters from MK9 to stay dead, no exception, including Jax (if you are one of those that really want Johnny/Sonya to be retired from the series for story purposes/story progression but want Kung Lao, Kitana, etc revived then you're an hypocrite imo.

What do you think?

I think making Jax old would be a really cool way to go with that character. Not like full on geriatric old, but grizzled old, especially if people are right in their assumption that Sonya died.

However Jax didn't seem to like Johnny in MK9, so judging by her personality, this may not be possible. Although she's the daughter of one of his closest friends, so who knows. I also think it's a really cool idea.

And i forgot to say that Ed and co really seem to like Jax, and always find a way to have him back in every game. The only game he's missed since his debut was MKD, and even then, he was planned to be in the game in early stages (and was added to the updated version, Unchained)

As long as he isn't still stuck in the Netherrealm by the end of this game. It'll be disappointing to have all those characters gone for good, but if they go that route at least let them get into the heavens; they are heroes after all.

Jax is a great character and it would be neat to seem him in the game as an older mentor as some of you suggested, but what if Jax is one of the characters who has a child appear in the game? I know no mention of Jax having a family was made in MK9 or in the previous timeline for that matter but I always got the impression that Jax was a little older so maybe he had kids all along but only now one of them will be featured and become a character in MK to team up with Cassie or be a friendly rival.

Maybe it'd be better if Jax had kids or nephews or nieces in the family.

One of them can team up with Cassie and together find good recruits in helping them save Earthrealm and the other realms.

Considering what we've seen of Cassie's personality I can't imagine Jax has had much to do with her upbringing/professional life. That would be a little too Pacific Rim as well.
Thinking about an older Jax with incredibly higher tech arms..that could be a huge reason for him to return. Just the fact they could super charge him for the fun of it. Plus, it's Jax..it's not really MK without Jax in it. Metal arms is as unique to his character as Sub-Zero with ice. Gotta have an ice dude, gotta have the fire guy, and you gotta have the man with the metal arms.

That seems to be where they've been pushing him in his endings recently. I don't really like it as Kano and the Lin Kuei are already cyborgs and I really how they had him arms in MK2011 but who knows what they'll do. Maybe he'll be like Jack and we can have like Jax 12 running around.

I really hope that everyone that got killed off in MK9, actually stays dead. And I know, death in MK, just like in comics, is never permanent. And we already have Scorpion, and Bi-han as Noob Saibot, roaming the world as spectres again. So we have our convenient in-world explanation, for how certain characters could return. And then there are the Elder Gods, who can grant you life and a new body.

But just for once, I'd like deaths in MK to be final.

Now imagine this:

Jax is brought back to life... 20-25 years later!! So now he's much younger than Sonya as he's revived in the same state he was when he died... but Cassie is around reminding him of why he liked Sonya (come on, the guy was Sonya's Lord Friendzone and we know it) and he starts a relationship with the daughter of his previous romantic interest (hey, if Captain America can do that, Jax too!! :P).

Yep, I think this would be very sick, making him date Sonya's daughter sounds a bit gross even if he had the same age because of being revived... what would you think about that?

And even better: If Cassie friendzoned him too :P

I had an idea for a story for an older Jax to relying on further Cybernetics as he grows older in an attempt to stay in peak condition, would be a nice metaphor for steroid use and the mental effects of athletes declining from there peak.

Since it appears either Sonya or Cage WILL be in this game that whole father figure/mentor angle to Cassie is out so he can stay dead.

I like Jax. If anyone has power to do serious damage it's him.
But there is nothing else that really make him stand out. In what way could he for example have interesting fatalities?

Maybe the return of jaxzilla? ;)

I would vomit if they give Jax a son and force him to be Cassie's tag along. That would turn me away from any interest I might would've had in her.

I would vomit if I see Johnny and Sonya in the game next to their daughter.... I mean one Johnny and Sonya clone is hopefully enough to eliminate both human waste from the roster.
