As for Jax, the more I think about this, the more it excites me. He used to be Sonya's CO, heading the SF. Now she's the one calling the shots and leading them. Something tells me Jax won't take to that so lightly. Being a head honcho at the SF, getting killed, serving a twat like Quan Chi in hell, coming back from the dead, then, after all that jazz, having to take orders from your underling? Let alone an underling that now has YOUR position. Nah. Jax doesn't strike me as the type to get down with that. And Sonya is just as much, if not more, of a bullhead than he is.
Just the mere thought of those two hashing that out, and not being stuck like glue to one another gives me hope.

I disagree with that though, he's not gonna be all butthurt that Sonya has his job. He's going to be butthurt because he was a crony of the Netherealm and committed horrible acts against humanity. He'll probably voluntarily take a step back from the SF, he knows Sonya can handle it but he now has his own inner demons to look after. If anything he'll be proud of Sonya, not all angsty that he doesn't get to boss people around.

I don't get this argument. Cassie and Sonya/Cage i understand because she has the nut punch and variants of Sonya's moves, BUT several characters being SF doesn't mean shit when we've had Sonya and Jax playable for years and they don't have moves that are even remotely similar.

I think he's just saying that the roster seems unbalanced with the number of characters that are working for the Special Forces. Nothing about movesets. It's just that we have like 7 characters out of 28ish that are members of the Special Forces. That's a quarter of the roster.

I'm curious to see his variations. IMO, Kano's Commando had his name written all over it.

I didn't realise people cared about that. I mean...what a pointless thing to criticize
If half the roster was all bland SF members, sure. But it's a quarter, and each one is a unique different character. Not all of them wear SF uniform and share moves or...anything. The closest two are Sonya and Cassie 'cause there mother and daughter, even then that's pushing it (being we haven't seen Sonya in action yet).
I wonder if this thread was made as a reaction to how a portion of the fanbase isn't stoked about Jax's inclusion, since we have seen absolutely nothing about him and his gameplay except for couple of pics.
It matters in a game that uses different factions and their conflicts as a main plot device. It may not bother you, but the roster is SF heavy , with members clearly recognizable by its theme. Gameplay similarities is a whole different subject.

Idk about that one :) Maybe its just my own interpretation of the character but I don't see him being the kind of dude to be mad or "salty" about Sonya being his superior now, I always thought he was pretty respectful and fond of her, if anything I think he will be proud to see her in a higher position.

I disagree with that though, he's not gonna be all butthurt that Sonya has his job. He's going to be butthurt because he was a crony of the Netherealm and committed horrible acts against humanity. If anything he'll be proud of Sonya, not all angsty that he doesn't get to boss people around.

Of course both you could be right. But for me personally? This is Jax's shot at actually grabbing my attention for once. Otherwise, he'll just fade into the background as always. Especially if he comes back.....just to be back. As the same ol' Jax no less.

This, Jax is looking awesome and I hope one of his fatalities is funny to piss off the people who were mad about him being in the game.
I hope Liu Kang has the Arcade drop too. Two great fatalities for two great characters who keep getting hated on for no good reason.

Not that same ol' Jax at all. A Jax who leaves his past duties behind because of the heavy burden of his past. He's gotta find peace in himself, and he can't do that while being a Commanding Officer in the Special Forces. This Jax would be a free agent, doesn't follow the rulebook of the SF anymore but his own set of morals and ethics which would have been shaken up by his time as a revenant. Would be a missed opportunity to not show some PTSD like qualities to a man like Jax, that would be logical character development.
Of course this is all speculative crap though
