That's right, you heard it here first. Set in the time of MK Armageddon (which would be supported by the story hence create a characters), Choose the side of Good or Evil and set out on your quest to the great pyrimid and blaze.

Level up and train with MK heroes to learn their moves in your chosen "class."

Form alliances and instance in the Lin Kuei temple or the Red Dragon Caves. Take the fight to PvP with combat in familiar MK arenas.

And keep leveling forever with no end to the game.

Basically rip off the class-system that has been outdated for 15 years even in the tabletop RPG scene. Not to mention it would have 0 chance against the WoW.

The fanbase for MK doess not even constitute 1% of the fanbase WoW has. Look at what happened to Age of Conan (more than 60% who indicated leaving WoW because of it came back) and Warhammer Online (almost the same).

MK does not need an MMO, and would not stand a damn chance.

Woah I don't have that kind of free time, considering me doing something for the sake of a game, no console? I would have the attention span of fish.

All games make people have no lives.

I'm gonna follow the trend here with a very confident "No it is not time for that." Mortal Kombat would make an absolutely bizarre MMO. There is no reason to have separate classes, other than perhaps a fighter who uses his fists and one who uses magic. When was the last time you saw a healing class in MK? Why would a party form during the Armageddon storyline, where everybody is fighting everybody else for a chance to beat Blaze on his or her own?

No, nothing adds up here.

Heard it here first?? HAH! It's been posted many times before. I even came up with an idea of how it could be made, but as previous stated, it will never happen!
I rarely say never, but MK MMO is just too big a project for a mediocre company as Midway.
But hell, they still have the chance to surprise me...

I've never played an MMORPG. They've never been one of my priorities. I like a game with a strong story, focused story, that doesn't rely on the internet to play. Call me old-fashioned that way. Before the MK Team even thinks about doing an MMO, they should get Konquest right as an action game with RPG elements, and actually put out an original Jade Empire-type RPG.

I wouldn't say a MMO, because that would simply be MKs demise has it would be completely smashed by WoW, Lineage II or Warhammer.

But a massively expanded 'Deception-like Konquest mode is a must for MK9.
It would be simply... stupid, not to have it in the near future.

Nah, I just think that they'd need to make the Konquest mode more like an MMO.

The set up that MKD's Konquest mode was closest to this. Right now it could equate to something as simple as how the online experience should be (just entering online "makes a difference", instead of what it is now. It's boring and uninviting). Like, I make my little avatar (or choose a default one), and use my avatar to challenge people. Then, the records and so on are recorded in a more....interesting way.

I think it would look like going online, but into a "world" of some sort. It might have a slight RTS feel, and let us pick where we wanted to go via point and click.

Where the MMO feel comes into play is based on "what world you wanna be from", what factions or clans you wanna be associated with, and how your playing the game, affects your characters build or ranks up, and how the information you obtain in your online profile, effects the ways we are able to play and adapt to different situations.

We're still a long way off I see now though. First, they need to nail down this server problem we have. lol

Personally I think the MK universe would be GREAT background for a MMO. If there was a great dev team with lotsa of talent willing to make such a game, I would be thrilled. But I see chances for utter failure far more feasible than chances for success. I can easily see it being a rushed and sloppy mess.

But man, it would be awesome if done right.

I think its a great idea. I haven't played any of the newer MK games due to lack of interest, but this type would definitely be a must-play on my list!
