Welcome to MKO.
People are being like that to make their point of disliking something come across much stronger, doing all they can to undermine those who do like it, when in fact they are just making themselves look really childish.
As soon two people start going at eachother, it's nothing but childish comments filling up the whole thread, each of them trying to make their e-peens seem bigger than the others.
I guess it's not just on MKO, but it is happening quite often on here. Which is sad, because it ruins alot of threads. E.g. all OP wanted was to discuss an idea he had.

Going back to that...Yup. I think since the brotherhood of shadow plays a big role around the character Shinnok and Quan Chi, I could imagine him making his entrance with Reiko..but wait, what's this? I'm getting a strange, Raiden-like vision of Shinnok killing Reiko upon entrance in the game to demonstrate his power...and so that Reiko doesn't become playable.
Perhaps Raiden was referring to Reiko
He...must...win!

Plus, Reiko is part of the Brotherhood, darnit. It's not like that faction begins and ends with just Noob and Quan Chi. C'mon, NRS.
I was researching for Kobra's Wiki entry yesterday and saw his and Kira's Armageddon endings; pretty hilarious. They're like the series' version of Tonya Harding & Jeff Gillooly.

Reiko has potential to be interesting in the same way that most of the minor characters do, just with a bigger cult following.
Some throwbacks to his time as a commander of Shao Kahn's army would be interesting, primarily because they could add some development and intrigue regarding his position in the Brotherhood of Shadow. Shao Kahn is supposed to be a shrewd leader, and it'd be an nice twist if Quan Chi, Backstabber Extraordinaire had a spy for Outworld in his own ranks.

Reiko is my favorite character. I really hope he makes the cut. I like the OP's idea. But I also like the idea of Reiko being a contender for the throne of Outworld. Maybe Reiko can rule after the confirmed fall of KotaL Kahn, while Noob Saibot rules over the NetherRealm... Both "kings" kneeling to the emperor of everything, Shinnok.

There's a load of irony in making a blanket statement like this while having a Fujin avatar. I like Fujin, but what you said there could easily apply to him, as well.

Behind Shinnok and Fujin, Reiko is the character I want to return the most. Something about his look and status as a NetherRealm general intrigue me. If he were to return, I'd want him to be a large power type character. He gave me that vibe in MKA and I'd like to see him resemble Shao Khan in size and move set.
I don't really expect him to make the initial roster, but maybe he'll have a decent chance as DLC. I do expect to see Shinnok and Fujin though, they seem to be can't miss selections, but I've been wrong before.

I really can not see Reiko as a power character nor resemble Shao Kahn in size. He seems more lithe with his moves such the flip kick. Reiko has always struck me more as a finesse character.

Me too, in particular his MK4 appearance, in MKA he looked like a Shao Kahn wannabe tryhard.
Reiko and Fujin seem like good MK4 reps, as I believe Shinnok is definitely in.

Reiko looks like Joel Schumacher's awful version of Robin. Reiko will not be playable in MKX, he will most likely get maybe a cameo apperance in the upcoming comic. I think this forum has a problem with over hyping really lame generic characters from MK4 - MKD

It wasn't until looking up Reiko on Google that I realized almost NOTHING exists about him out there, and not just in terms of his storyline. No best/worst lists, no nothing. It's a shame.

I get where you're coming from, if his appearance in MK4 was the only thing we had to go by, I'd totally agree with you. His appearance in MKA made him seem more like a large brute type, at least to me. Either way I'm not going to be picky, I would just like to see him as a playable character in MKX, but his chances aren't the best.

If all three of those guys made it, I'd be so happy! I'm really only expecting Shinnok for sure, with Fujin being highly probable. Two out three ain't bad though, but we shall see. Can't wait for the next reveal!!

Nahh. Fujin had more relation to other characters such as Taven and Argus, as well as with the allies as shown in his MKA bio. Also, apparently Fujin was supposed to replace Raiden as Protector of Earth, so there WAS plans on continuing with his character, but was dropped. So while he still is sort of "in the shadows", he still has more background than Reiko.

It is kinda sad that there are so many characters in the MK universe that haven't had the chance to develop into something decent. I think that's why people prefer the MK1-MK2 characters, because they have been in so many games and had time to evolve.
Every time a new game comes out, I hope that there will be alot more of those neglected characters in it and that they will develop as characters, get more meat on their stories and personalities, to make them more interesting.
And that's what I hope for Reiko and Tanya, because I love playing as them and I think they have the potential to be alot more awesome.

A character can have loads of potential, but if NRS doesn't like him you won't see him. I honestly don't know what Boon thinks of Reiko, but I remember reading somewhere he was one of Vogel's most hated characters.
I'll say he has like 35% chances of appearing in MKX, less than Shinnok, Fujin and Tanya but more than Kai and Jarek.
