I have always liked Liu Kang's moves and play style. He is ridiculously easy to pick up and his combos are devastating.

That said, he has almost NO personality. He is hands down one of the "safest", most boring characters in the MK universe. Add to that the fact that they made him pathetic in MK9. I mean, You're champion of a tournament where people are regularly murdered, and yet when a few of your friends die, you lose your shit and go so insane that Raiden has to put you down. Meanwhile, Johnny Cage and Sonya, two people who likely haven't seen nearly as much death (or any in Johnny's case) managed to keep it together and go on to become Raiden's new heroes.

"Addled mind"? Talk about projection!

Liu is a bland, boring douche. He is NOT iconic of MK, he is and always has been a poor ripoff of Bruce Lee. Scorpion and Sub Zero are iconic of MK, Especially Scorpion, (Who if you notice is even the studio mascot).

I seriously hope they never bring him back. And if they MUST, then yeah I'm with the "Evil Liu" crowd, simply because it would make him a little interesting for the first time ever!

I'm worried about takeda, he looks WAY 2 OP. He will be the character shitty players chose....and if a good player gets behind him.....might as well rage quit b4 the fight even starts. I don't understand how they thought it was/is a good idea to have a character that has more fuckin reach than StretchArmStrong.

NOT iconic because is a Bruce Lee Based character?? So you mean That Kano and Johnny Cage Suck beacuse they where based on Terminator and Jean Claude Van Dame??

Liu Kang was the center of MK when like a lot of figthing games, they dont developed correctly the characters, But no Personality?? Come on? Just pay atention to the story, he even rejected to rule edenia as Kitana ́s King juts to protect Earthrealm, even when he was a ghost he inspired his former master to fight against the Tarkatan army in Outworld I bet somedoy with no personality would have done that.

Love it or Hate it, its imposible to denie how muchs Iconic Liu is. Like I said since his Four tournament Kills to been Killed, to become a murderer at Raiden ́s will, to the movies to all the merchandising, to one of the most iconic Fatalities and Trademark moves. You can ́t denie how much this character has contribute to this franchise that we all enjoy.

>No personality

Being a disciplined, selfless monk isn't having "no personality." He even jokes around with Johnny and flirts with Kitana.

He's about as fleshed out as any of the other character cliches in Mortal Kombat. They're all about as deep as a bucket of water.

Also at that point in the story Liu and everyone were doing alright until Sindel suddenly started killing everyone and then Raiden wanted Kahn to try and merge shit. Liu's allowed to be a little taken back, especially because 1. Those were good people who didn't deserve to die 2. Being in a tournament where people get killed for the first time doesn't mean nobody would freak out at seeing someone die (everyone was shocked to see Scorpion with Bi-Han's skull) 3. Liu doesn't even know death doesn't mean shit for them at that point.

If Liu's not iconic, why are there so many threads about him and people asking where he is?

The only thing that is iconic about him is his dragon fatality. If he was so iconic why not show him first? Kitana was shown with out being evil.

Liu Kang is the Mortal Kombat series Ryu, Ed Boon himself has said so.
He's an iconic character.
Takedas design is just so incredibly generic, another guy with a grey robotic like body. How original.

The fact that they're saving Liu Kang for last means he's gonna be important in MK X. Their building his reveal up, be it in the game or prior to launch.

Because they know he has a big fanbase and want to keep him a secret? They know how many people want Liu Kang so it makes perfect sense to hold him back. tongue

The only thing that is iconic about him is his dragon fatality. If he was so iconic why not show him first? Kitana was shown with out being evil.

Thats why they didnt Show him first, thats why you will unlock him beating the story mode and thats why his alternate costume was the most dificult to unlock in MK Deception. He is one of the most iconic characters of all MK no need to denie that.
The only thing iconic about him is his dragon fatality.

And his bicycle kick, his flying kick, his use of kiai, the cartwheel uppercut, his red/black outfit, his status as champion of MK, etc.

They're keeping Liu a secret because people are dying to know about him since the ending of the last game. That wasn't obvious?

I actually really liked Liu Kang's personality in MK9! He was funny, a smart ass, and actually thought for himself.

One thing I don't like in games is story repetition.. He died once in a game... and came back... now he has died again... and they are going to bring him back... THAT gets on my nerves.. Yes I know death in MK isn't permanent... but dying twice and coming back twice... that's a little ridiculous...

Although, we don't know the circumstances of Liu's return in MKX yet... so It could be completely different..

That's why I like the idea of him being bad... or FIRE GOD.. Atleast it would be a massive departure from last time he came back.

If Liu Kang turned bad and held a grudge against Raiden... and Kitana seems to be holding a grudge against Earth's warriors.... That could make for an interesting Alliance/relationship.
