I think it's too soon to claim whitewashing when all we have seen is a poorly lit, unfinished model of her.

Her skin tone wasn't that different honestly.

Jade maybe but put Tanya in MKD side by side to Tanya Now and I don't see much of a drastic change.

Id like to see her darkened as well, and no not because of some SJW agenda, its because I think she looks better with darker skin. Same with Jade.

Tanya was never dark black, she was always lighter skinned dark skinned(lol)

I am willing to bet that the people saying that it doesn't matter or that the complaining is stupid are the same people who would throw a fit if they suddenly changed Sub-Zero's skin color to black or made Sonya Asian. There's always an uproar when a white character is turned black and I don't think people should be surprised that others aren't happy with Tanya's sudden skin color change.

She was black and now she's white. It's stupid and she should go back to being dark-skinned.

Whitewashing? Only seven of the 29 characters are white, one of which is Jason. Most of the cast is at least Half Asian, while the rest are either black, monsters, or have a neutral Edenian look that almost seems latina/Spanish.

I do agree that Tanya looks better darker though. Her current design is pretty amusing, at least from the shoulders up.

I compared some random skin color points from all four and put them in the top half of their respective boxes. (So MK4 on the top right, etc.)

Then, on the lower half, I put their brightest and darkest points, just as a side-note.

It's clear that MKX Tanya is so far the lightest version of Tanya, with much more pale beiges and a LOT less brown. (The closest she gets to a brown color is on the far right of the top box, and is paler than even the mid-range of MKD Tanya.

Plus, her lightest areas are almost pure white, whereas none of the other Tanya's have much white, and the areas that are white are much smaller.

The lighting also makes this point, considering that she is whiter than all her other incarnations with such dark, dark lighting, that covers most of her body. So how white must she be in bright lighting?

MKX Tanya is white as hell compared to the others and some of us wish she'd go back to MK4.

Tanya's race really is just a case of people seeing what they want to see.
Personally, I see Tanya as a dark skinned Edenian. What does that mean exactly? I don't fucking know. I have no idea what the racial make up of Edenia looks like.

I really just want to see her in game next to Jacqui, so we can get a definitive answer as to how dark her skin is compared to someone who is actually "African American."

People are complaining so that they make sure they do what they can to try and get it changed. Without complaint and with no noise made, NRS probably would have kept the model incredibly similar to the current unfinished one. Cassie's face and neck were obviously things that were in development; they looked wrong and unnatural. Race, on the other hand, is different. Tanya with her current skin color doesn't look unnatural or deformed like Cassie did, and there's no reason to assume that it would be changed. Plus, why would they make her so light? That's not an easy mistake to make.

People should take things with a grain of salt, which is why they're not REALLY complaining about her face, but that doesn't mean that all complaints are premature and unnecessary.

NRS missed the mark on this one and fans of the character are letting them know.
