To make ALL characters playable in their own respective chapter.

Nothing really. I've been over the story for YEARS now. I don't think they can tell a story as good as the Deadly Alliance/Deception days.
Have character deaths, give them meaning, and make 'em extra brutal.
It's just the way all those heroes died in MK9 were meaningless. Jax got a heel stuck in his neck...it wasn't too memorable. The only death with slight sentimentality was Kitana's...maybe Liu Kang's, too. Nightwolf died for a good cause, but it just wasn't.....I dunno. I just want some brutal, meaningful, and memorable deaths in the story.

Decent dialogue and strong character development. I'm spoiled with comic books and the TV shows of today(Walking Dead, Breaking Bad etc.), but would it hurt to hire a decent writer to make the story have a nice flow, decent dialogue, and some twists and turns nobody is expecting?
With that said, I was fine with MK9's story, so I'm not one to be that picky about it, but if I had one request it'd be that.

Stop making Reptile a punching bag. Let the man win a fight for once in his life. Everything else is dope.

I'd have Liu return and Shinnok influencing him with lies about Raiden, creating an essence of hatred for him and the Elder gods.
Throughout the end of the game, someone will help him wake up and see the deception in hopes that he'll return to fight for what's truly right. And not to follow his own way all the time. Eventually, the heroes are revived to normal again.
Liu Kang doesn't reunite with the other heroes but hides in the shadows watching over them. Kitana, who is alive again finds him begging him to return. He promises that he'll reunite with the others and forgive Raiden when he's ready.
Oh! And give us good fighting scenes! Martial arts movie style!

I'm still pissed the way they killed off Kung Lao, and how it was done so early.

CGI cinematic for all the cut scenes.
Constancy. As much shit as I wish they would change from MK9, I'd be a hypocrite for wanting them to retcon it. If they can give us a solid story and move in a nice consistent manner, that's good enough for me.
As much as I loved the old timeline up to Deception, I hated how many loopholes there were, retcons and such. So that would be my biggest concern.
Now one thing I would like to personally be IN the story? I'd like to see Johnny Cage's ending in MK9 come true, have him all Seido'd out! That would be killer.

Id like it to be long, I would also like it if we got chapters for every character, even the bad guys.
OR (I know this next part is pushing it)
but I think it would be cool if we got two different stories to play. One where you play as the good guys and they ultimately prevail and a "bad" story where you play as the bad guys and they ultimately succeed, and then we have to wait for the next game to find out which one was the canon one that actually happened lol sort of like Infamous.

This! Some nods and winks and easter eggs alluding to the previous timeline or cameos would be nice too. doesnt have to be speaking roles, they could just be in the background like Skarlet in MK9.

I am also a fan of slow-motion sequences and close-ups when they are fitting and done right. Also audio..music and sound sets the damn scene. They can make it or break it.
I feel pretty good in regards to that after the intro audio for the characters variation videos. I can't get over how menacing and Mortal Kombat-ee it sounds.
I want the presentation bucked up for next gen consoles in MKX.

Everyone gets a damn chapter.
The villains in the previous game were just punching bags basically.

I was someone who owned a Dreamcast. So I had MK Gold and loved those cinematic endings. But the opening cinematic of MK:DA building off of Scorpions ending the way it did and konquest filling in all the gaps in the storyline over the years was jaw dropping. And this repeated through DA's endings to Deception.
I want MKX to do this. I want it to build off of MK 2011's story and within the 25 year storyline of MKX I hope to see them touch on some of the things from games 4 and on, but take it in a new direction. I want this games story to have the same depth as MK 4, DA and Deception but also when this game is over, have MK going on a new path free from the constraints of previous games cannon. But I'm in love with everything I've seen so far.
For NRS to be able to tell a good shocking story without killing 101 characters. Killing off all the heroes/having the bad guy win isn't the only way to set up your next game. I need for them to craft a story that doesn't have characters dying just because they can. The deaths have to have meaning and having a great big bunch of them takes away from that.
I'd never happen, but basically this:
Whenever you'd decisively beat your opponent, the game would allow you an opportunity to actually finish them or show mercy and let them live. The story changes accordingly, with consequences that reverberate throughout the entire narrative.
Come to think of it, MK9 story of trying to prevent Armageddon without fucking things up worse than they were before would have been absolutely perfect for this kind of thing... :/

I would like NRS to ditch the extreme Good vs Evil approach. I'd like more interesting motives other than control/defence of the realms.
As someone said previously, modern media presents wonderfully grey characters in abundance, and I'd like to see more of that in MK. I'm really sick of the whole band-of-good-guys-fighting-for-whats-right stuff.
That and good netcode. The story should focus on the importance of good netcode.

Realistically: Multiple playable chapters per character with more natural break points.
Fantasy: Playing up the multiverse aspect of the series with every branch of the MK tree banding together to prevent Armageddon.

One thing. Actually not pull their punches when it comes to disregarding marketing value.
Have the balls to kill of characters for real, and have the decency to send them off in a way that is not "OOh, look at us, we killed off this character because you didn't like it and we fucked up, hugzpls lololol. "
