Hoping Team Cassie get some personality rather than being pretty much a hive mind. KJ seems different enough but it's weird that both guys wear yellow headbands and both the girls are in military gear which arguably makes sense compared to the exercise gear the good guys normally wore. Hoping that Jacqui and Takeda aren't wearing those as their defaults despite the latter being fanservice to girls who like big butts and cannot lie.

This thread gave me a good laugh at how fucking stupid it is. MKX's story is going to be like Power Rangers? Holy fucking shit you just won the crown of stupidest criticsm yet of this game. So are Cassie and the other Rangers going to be fighting Kotal in 200ft mech suits while listening to Raiden (oh I'm sorry ZORDON) tell them that they have to save the universe from Empress Rita of Outworld. Lol, get the fuck out. What the fuck is happening to this place if threads like this are being posted? Jesus fucking Christ.

Also, too many Special Forces? Let's make a quick list;

Fine, lets say they are part of Special Forces, that's still only seven characters in a roster of 24 that are SF in a story that we've kinda known will be SF heavy for a while. People bitching about there being too many SF are just salty as fuck that characters they don't like might be being put in over characters they deem 'better' and more 'suitable' which is bullshit. Characters like Tanya and Havik just won't fit in this story, and this thread is exhibit A,B,C all the way to fucking Z of that.

It has nothing to do with that and everything to do with that then makes the roster way too uneven with way too many heroes compared to villains of which all the other games have been pretty balanced. Especially considering we have two factions of evil in this story and the roster only represents one side of it. Mileena has NO allies as of now confirmed compared to Kotal's 4 (5 if you count Erron).

Look I really don't want to get into an argument now, let's just say that we both see the roster differently and move on. I'm cool with that if you are. My main problem here is what the OP is suggesting. I've said my piece and I'm ready to get the fuck out of here before I see more shit that makes me want to post stuff that'll get me into more arguments.

It's been mentioned but I don't think that's the "showrunners". We'll get other arcs but really with everything going on and them being at the end of the 25 year time period I don't even think they will be center stage, it just made sense to show them off in the trailer IMO. ... but... I think you're hoping for too much. At least for the Special Forces arc. I've been bitching about the story for some time now, I think I'm just gonna go into like a mindless action movie now and just try to enjoy it. I get so caught up in the story discussion I forget I'm here for a fighting game lol. Gotta give NRS props for making me still care, even if I don't agree with all the decisions they make in their story.

Yeah I agree about me hoping for too much, but that doesn't mean NRS shouldn't just...stop throwing too many characters in a single scene and basically turns this into a Good Vs Evil thingy.

In the old timeline, there were things that just added depth to the characters even if not fully fleshed in the games cutscenes/endings. Shao Kahn used to be more than just an evil guy wanting to merge realms, in the old times he was also written as an emperor who cared for his dead wife, Kung Lao was given a change of heart and became more mature that he desired peaceful life in MKX he still acts like MK9's Kung Lao. In the new timeline, those stuff are completely gone whether to them being lazy enough not to give a lengthy text bios for the characters and the limitation of the story mode to basically spend more time with a character.

They didn't have to design too many sons/daughters of old characters just to introduce the neXt generation. The only relative should have been Cassie and she has the most respectable design so far. Ferra/Torr, Kotak Kahn and D'vorah are actually more interesting that new Special Forces new comers.

I am gonna enjoy the game, there will be some kick ass moments (mostly of classic characters), but I don't think it will be much better than MK9. Growing up plays the biggest role in this tho.

Well I think two big factors are Tobias leaving and getting actual story modes. I'm not saying the old timeline was Shakespearean, far from it but leaving things up to interpretation may have been for the best. You're right there were some cool things in the old timeline that seem to be ignored here.

A lot of this is just jumping the shark (or punching the boulder) to me. We made Scorpion a good guy. Cassie and Johnny had a kid. All those people we killed, about half of them are back. I'm not against "next gen fighters" like in SF3 Soul Calibur 5 but everyone's kids/ decedents is a but much.For example why are we just hearing about Kung Laos brother now? Some of this seems like it was written on the spot. Like I mentioned earlier none of the above came to mind when NRS were talking about making a darker story... AND like I mentioned earlier I'm gonna try to just go into it brainless and enjoy lol
