A team of good guys working together to stop the bad guys? I didn't realize that was exclusive to Power Rangers

BTW, only in power ranger does a team walk together, fight together, get captured together... I have seen all of that in the trailer.

Haha, I affectionately call Cassie and her buddies the "Scooby Doo gang" now. Power Rangers works well too.

Surprisingly, they are not the Raiden rangers. The ladies look nothing like those in the ending and none of the guys have a ponytail or perhaps prototypes? One of them has a headband like Kung Jin.

Right, because Liu, Soyna, Johnny, and Radian never walked around around together in a group. EVERY MK has had a team of good guys like that. We just have never really seen these cinematic cutscenes before MK9. Did all the good guys at the church in MK9 seem like the Power Rangers at the command center? Also, I'm 100% sure we will get to see other perspectives of the story. We will get to play as Kotal, for certain.

OP probably wants the heroes to be all basement-dwelling virgins, instead.

Now I'm hoping for a part in the story where Kotal Kahn grows a hundred feet tall and the Special Forces have to form all their mechs together to stop him.

Idunno... in Deadly Alliance, the good team gathers together on the island. In Deception, the whole team dies together. MK9 has the church scene. MKX is all about having different factions.

Never mind that the Rangers need five members, an outcast who joins the team when he's needed, and some way to combine their weapons into a bigger, ridiculously overdesigned laser blaster.

As much as I loved the *original* Power Rangers, I agree.

However, going off context clues from Sub-Zero and Kung Jin, they obviously don't ALL get along ALL the time. Which is fantastic.

Makes for better entertainment.

What makes MK like power rangers is that when they talk, they have to flail their arms all over the place. So far, only Dvorah seems to be "over acting" her intro dialogues. I hope it stays that way.

I find it interesting that this new team is in the forefront of the story, and it seems like the story will be told from their perspective.

Let's just hope when the Special Forces introduce themselves to a villain they don't do that group pose like the Power Rangers lol

It's been mentioned but I don't think that's the "showrunners". We'll get other arcs but really with everything going on and them being at the end of the 25 year time period I don't even think they will be center stage, it just made sense to show them off in the trailer IMO. Me I mostly care about every other arc lol. I agree the U.S. Special forces team looks cheesy. I too get a power rangers vibe, don't get me wrong I'm a 90s baby I love me some power rangers but the team went on and on how this is going to be a more serious story this time around.

... but... I think you're hoping for too much. At least for the Special Forces arc. I've been bitching about the story for some time now, I think I'm just gonna go into like a mindless action movie now and just try to enjoy it. I get so caught up in the story discussion I forget I'm here for a fighting game lol. Gotta give NRS props for making me still care, even if I don't agree with all the decisions they make in their story.

Yeah I agree about me hoping for too much, but that doesn't mean NRS shouldn't just...stop throwing too many characters in a single scene and basically turns this into a Good Vs Evil thingy.

In the old timeline, there were things that just added depth to the characters even if not fully fleshed in the games cutscenes/endings. Shao Kahn used to be more than just an evil guy wanting to merge realms, in the old times he was also written as an emperor who cared for his dead wife, Kung Lao was given a change of heart and became more mature that he desired peaceful life in MKX he still acts like MK9's Kung Lao. In the new timeline, those stuff are completely gone whether to them being lazy enough not to give a lengthy text bios for the characters and the limitation of the story mode to basically spend more time with a character.



They didn't have to design too many sons/daughters of old characters just to introduce the neXt generation. The only relative should have been Cassie and she has the most respectable design so far. Ferra/Torr, Kotak Kahn and D'vorah are actually more interesting that new Special Forces new comers.

I am gonna enjoy the game, there will be some kick ass moments (mostly of classic characters), but I don't think it will be much better than MK9. Growing up plays the biggest role in this tho.

I don't think the story is at risk of being like the Power Rangers.

The trailer just focussed on the newcomers & we all know the story spans 25 years so taking that into account we mostly get showcased the latter part of the story mode with a few earlier things peppered inbetween (teen Takeda).

To me the story seems to be inspired by Game of Thrones. With Mileena & Kotal Kahn taking center stage. Earthrealm's warriors being there to basically prevent the war spilling over to Earth.
