I'm sure they won't be playable. They're just comic filler.

They die soon, and are probably used because Tremor is gonna get used in the game.

I can see this have happend:

The comic-writer asked Ed Boon (or someone else) what to expect from MKX and who will have a role and who will not.

Ed Boon: Hsu Will die! DIE!!! And Rain will die too! Drahmin and Moloch too.
Ed Boon: Tremor will finally be playable in the game!

Kittelsen: Uhhhh who's Tremor? Kittselen starts searching online and finds the entire black dragon on a fanpage, and thinks: I can use them all for small roles so Tremor stands out more.

If Fujin and Shinnok are in, I won't care too much about the rest of the roster. That said, I'm going to set my personal preferences aside and speculate on each character's chances.

Mavado's been deconfirmed for a while now if I remember correctly.

Tasia's an NPC from Special Forces who hasn't made any appearance in any other game, so she's also unlikely.

Jarek was revamped for MKA, but that hasn't improved his standing among MK fans. He wasn't an MK9 cameo, so that decreases his chances even further. The only thing he has going for him, apart from his appearance in the comic, is this cryptic Boon tweet.

Out of these characters, Daegon has the best chance because he had a cameo in MK9, which shows that the devs don't hate him. Also, his alliance with Shinnok could make him a player in the Netherrealm War, which is most probably going to be a part of MKX's story mode. If he's a player in the Netherrealm War, that would make him one of the antagonistic survivors by the time of the comic.

Why would I be upset? I love how the OP assumed everyone would agree with him or her or whatever.

Anyway, they'd all feel fresh, so I'd be glad if they returned. Tasia's not all that great for me though, I'd be a little disappointed if she was given a chance over Jataaka, Khameleon, or any underrated female characters save for Kia, who's neither better or worse than her.

Still, Tasia's also not that bad, so if they improved her, great.

Tasks would be interesting as a long reach, duel katana wielding character.

To answer the question, yes, I'd like to see them. However, people seem to keep forgetting that Mavado was long axed from the game.
Fresh faces are so needed and another female baddie in Tasia won't hurt either, plus seeing the purists get their knickers in a collective twist.

I do like how the comic is giving forgotten characters some page time. Would much rather see them than contrived family members.

I could live with Daegon , I don't care about Jarek and Tasia, and I do dislike Mavado so it wouldn't be that big of a deal considering I already have Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Ermac, Reptile, Cassie, and Kotal so if worse comes to worse there are already at least 6 characters I really want to play as.

I'm really sick of all the Jarek hate, to be completely honest. Also, even though Mavado was seemingly deconfirmed, I do hope he appears as DLC.

As for Jarek, I think he has much more potential than Kobra and Kira. Kobra was just ripoff of Ken Masters, and Kira was just a horrible replacement for Kano and Sonya. In other words, she's just Kano with balloons on his chest (sexual joke, I know).tongue

I'd be ecstatic if Mavado and Daegon were in the game or DLC. I might be the only Mavado fan on this site, but whatevs. Hooksword variation for the win!!

Jarek wouldn't bother me, but he'd need yet a 2nd makeover. Like his axe needs to be enchanted or something, giving him some swag. It could be one of the Kamidogus that Kano seems to be gathering in the comic. Maybe he's giving them to his Black Dragon generals.

Now Tasia is the only one that would bother me... If she made it over other more-deserving females like Tanya, Skarlet, and Sareena.

I honestly wouldn't mind any of these characters (or any others, for that matter) so long as they're designed well both artistically and gameplay-wise.

In short, make me care about them, NRS.
Not that upset at all if they're cameos.

If they manage to recreate Jax or Sonya's MK4 ending I'll praise them even

Daegon and Mavado make absolute sense in this game. Considering that Daegon founded the red dragon clan well before the black dragon clan even existed. Since the black dragon is a faction, it would need some natural opposition.

Now, gameplay-wise, I think Daegon is a better fit. He is corrupted and ruthless enough and I could even see him allying with quan chi and the brotherhood.

I think 2D would limit Mavado's fancy grappling hook gameplay, but it could be unique. I would personally prefer to see Mavado over Daegon. I'm just saying that Daegon seems to fit this game better. I would be excited for either one.
I wouldn't be upset by anyone returning aside from the obvious joke characters like Meat or Mokap, I'd love to see what the creatively revitalized team do with some of these 3D era characters, I spent my late teens playing Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon and have a special place in my heart for many of those characters and would be disappointed to see them cut out completely.

I get that you want people to like Jarek, but does it really bother you that much?we all have our favorites, but don't let it bother you. I look at hotaru and ashrah and I see two of the most unique characters ever created for mk. I see a great wealth of potential in both and found their designs and gameplay very intriguing.

But, I also know that the majority of the community view hotaru as an uptight samurai rip off and ashrah as a cheesy voodoo woman who doesn't have enough cleavage for today's secular culture of self-pleasure.

Not going to lose sleep over it.

Daegon's story is excellent, probably my favorite of the entire 3D era. I agree that he definitely fits into MKX. The Red Dragon served Shinnok, who I'm 99% sure will be responsible for "NetherRealm War" that's supposed to take place. In one of the first MKX videos, I remember Boon saying that we'll be surprised with who makes the roster. I hope Daegon is one of those surprises. We haven't had a "surprise" yet. Maybe Goro?

As for Mavado, his moveset would have to be upgraded now that MKX is on a 2D plane. I'd scrap the ropes altogether. I'd give him throwing knives, making him even more of a rival to Kano. Maybe he could even charge them Gambit-Style for one variation.

I hope really strong that noone from post MK4 will end up in the game or ever in any future MK.

I still try to forget the dark 13 years between MK4 and MK9. Shaolin Monks which I liked a lot was the only bright spot, but except this game it was like the series of painful disappointments. I really, really tried to like those games ( I bought most of them) but they were simply bad.

Many people say that they would give a second chance to certain characters if NRS redesign them. So it is like saying: "if you make Movado less like Movado than we will like him". What is the point. Let him stay wherever he is right now.

I sometimes wonder if some people from the hardcore fanbase really like those characters or they are like MK hipsters and want to be so special by showing love to some super obscure characters NRS (or Midway if you prefere) produced in this period that I call the "dark ages of MK"

Yes I would be upset.

If we are being "hipsters" by liking Characters from MK4-A, then the only word to describe you would be a "hater"... The Dark Ages? Really? U liked ZERO new characters in those 13 years? Not even Kenshi? GTFOH.

I can understand not liking a few. I actually dislike the entire newb class of MKD, But Im not going to go into a Hotaru thread and insult everyone becuz I personally think Hotaru sux. Come On Man.
