Since I don't have very much hope for Smoke in MKX, and if they made Mokap a really funny joke character, I'd be fine. Even then, Mokap isn't even relevant in this conversation. You listed characters that were intended to be good characters that failed. None that you listed were intended as joke characters.

Go back and re-read his post. The Black Dragon is a faction in online mode. If the Black Dragon is so big in the story that they require their own faction in the online mode, then it wouldn't make sense if Kano was the only Black Dragon member.

i don't really even understand not buying MKX if Tasia "returned" when she hasn't even made a single playable appearance ever. Seems way over the top and extreme

Honestly, those characters would be cool to see, especially Tasia since she's never been in a fighting game.

All the others would be great to see returning. So I wouldn't be upset one bit.

Any character added is a good thing, the more the merrier, as long as it's not a guest character its not a wasted spot.

A true fan of MK buys mk because they are always great fun games, not because certain characters are added or not.

Let me try to simplify what I said so you can process the info, and I'll use CAPS to (try to) hit a few points home...

In the game of Mortal Kombat X, there is this feature in it called "Factions".

In the dictionary or a thesaurus a faction means "A group".

A FACTION = A GROUP of people.

In MKX there are FIVE FACTIONS, the Black Dragon IS ONE of the five. This IS SOMETHING WE ALREADY KNOW.

KANO IS the LEADER of the BLACK DRAGON CLAN IN MKX (the game, comic, everything MKX related).

For Kano to be leader of a clan/faction KANO NEEDS to have ACTUAL MEMBERS, or else WITHOUT MEMBERS HE HAS NO CLAN/FACTION!

So with that info, it MAKES SENSE that in MKX, KANO WOULDN'T BE THE ONLY BLACK DRAGON MEMBER.

IF KANO WAS THE ONLY BLACK DRAGON MEMBER IN GAME, the BLACK DRAGON WOULDN'T BE ONE OF THE FACTIONS IN the GAME.

Why wouldn't the Black Dragon be a faction in the game if Kano was the only member?? BECAUSE ONE PERSON DOES NOT = A FACTION (GROUP OF PEOPLE).

I wouldn't be upset at all. I would like to see the Black Dragon expanded upon and always thought Jarek was given a raw deal in all the previous games and would like to see how he and Kano interact with one another.


As for Daegon. That guy was probably the only good thing about Armageddon and has serious underpinnings of being a amazing villain in this series.

And with him i would like to see Mavado come back, and given a proper Stryker treatment. Heck I say use his alternate costume as the foundation for redesigning him. Once I got past how kinda meh he looked I really grew to like him in Deadly Alliance.

Id be pretty upset if Fujin, Tanya, Li Mei, and Hotaru didnt make it. But id buy it either way. I love like all the characters with the exception of Kobra, Darrius, and Mokap.

Wow, - now that was SUCH a stretch of the creative imagination and we didn't need to waste 4 roster spots on shitty characters to get there. Imagine Havik, Shinnok, Kano and Tanya working together as fucking awesome faction of their own... 4 loved, heavily requested and under-utilized characters revamped in a kick-ass faction. Who would argue against that??

But here's a BETTER idea... let's re-invent those 4 shitty said characters, let's really go to town on them, make them cool. Have Darrius, Kira, Mavado - all the shittiest ones which make the public look back at the 3d era in disgust and nearly ended the franchise. I think we should even throw in Jar Jar Binks in there - but make HIM cool. And cut out 4 established and brilliant characters that are also on the fringe but the audience have been requesting heavily... MAYBE there'll be a good character in there somewhere, with a LOT of retooling, or MAYBE you include some of the other characters who don't so explicitly remind your audience how badly your franchise sucked just a few games back. Point being, I am ALL for revamped 3d characters, but not every one was a hidden gem!!

I would love to see how NRS would revamp these characters, granted, I have preference for other characters making the cut in MKX but I'm sure we would have very interesting results, and I rather have them than a bunch killed guys from the previous game that couldn't even stay dead for one miserable title, suddenly reappearing and taking up space.

I've never liked the Black Dragon; not one member, not even Kano! But I like his new moveset and I'll be trying him out in MKX.

On to your point of reinvention... Jarek has a fanbase, not a big one, maybe not even an average sized one; but neither did Stryker, Nightwolf, Kano, Reptile, Ermac, Mileena, Jax, Fujin, Quan Chi, Goro, anyone who wasn't playable in MK1... But hey, look, every character has returned and oh wait... Didn't some get revamped and their fanbases increase? Oh I know that's impossible, it's absurd, it's terribly true! Some characters can be remodelled and have their movesets altered and then actually better!!

Take a breath, let it sink in. I know that's new info to you after your long journey travelling from 2006; take a breath...

Now onto the characters you've mentioned:

Mokap- Was and always will be a joke character. He was meant to be and he was; chances are he's probably never going to be in another MK game again.

Darrius- Was bland and disliked by the majority of players; mostly only introduced because people at the time wanted more black characters & NRS (Midway at the time) were accused of being racist. It's likely he's not going to be in any future MK game either.

Kira- She was a clone hybrid of Sonya and Kano, disliked by a large few but had potential as the thing people didn't like about her was that she didn't have her own moves; her only other appearance was Armageddon in which most of the characters were shit because the whole game was rushed.

Mavado- People wanted Kabal and Mavado, not just one. Most even thought that Mavado's outfit was bland compared to what could have been done with him considering he was replacing Kabal, plus a bit of his moveset wasn't quite good enough.

Tasia- We've never had playtime with her so no-one can criticise her; all we know is what Special Forces told people who played it. So there's no reason she couldn't be a good addition to the MKX roster, not a single reason.

Jarek- Yes he was a Kano reipoff, but you know what? He was supposed to be, NRS knew that people would be pissed off that Kano wasn't in MK4 so they gave his moves and role to Jarek to make fans happy. But it wasn't good enough; people wanted Kano and they wanted Jarek to be his own man with his own story and moves as well as having his own look. So many only dislike him now because over time more and more have bitched about how bad he was; and yet the funny thing is that those same people now also bitch about Sonya and how stale she's become & how they want her to be killed off for good... Who's ever come close to killing Sonya? It wasn't Kano... Jarek!

Dump Mokap; have Darrius cameo (in comic) and kill him off; revamp Kira and bring her back for MK11; bring Tasia into MKX for her to have her Mortal Kombat main game series debut; and give a new backstory to Jarek & make sure his moves are completely different to Kano's- problem solved and everyone's happy.!

No chance. I don't know about Daegon but the rest in that list won't be in the game, I am 99% certain. Of course we get to see these characters in the comics. What do you think the comics are partially for? To give a lot of these 3D era characters closure and show the fans that in a way they did revisit MKDA, MKD, and MKA.

I would definitely still buy the game but I would also hope that NRS has bigger plans for better players.

The midway days are really bad imo. I'm sorry if you feel differently But I feel as though the lack of resources and a forced 3d platform made for bad story and bad characters. Just my thinking

Opening a thread to ask posters about certain characters and then going on an absolute nonsensical rant about them.
Makes sense.

Mavado and Deagon have qualities that could make for an awesome character if done right, and just because they were done unwell originally doesn't mean they lost their potential. I didn't really get into MK4 so I'm unsure about Jarek and I don't know who Tasia is but I'm sure the same goes for them. Look at it this way, There are cool MK characters and bad MK characters, but if you redesigned the bad ones into cool ones then you have more cool characters and fewer bad ones. Why wouldn't a MK fan want that?

Even Mokap could be cool. You could be controlling him in the background during a fight and what would will be fighting the opponent is a mech type robot that he is "mokaping" the movements for. Similar to Pokemon Trainer in SSBB or Ferra in the Torr only variation. Robots aren't out of place in MK and creating variations for it would be easy. Tweaks and adjustments like that can make a boring character 1000% more interesting.

I'm not interested in any of those characters but I bout the game the first day possible and I'm only a waiting for the Kollectors Edition to be announced to upgrade!

The ex lin-kueij Tremor and the red-head Kira with her own abilities.

These would be the perfect Black Dragon for me, together with Kabal and Kano.
