He's been said to be, or has been the God/Elder God of despair.

Where?

To my knowledge, there is nowhere in canon that assigns any of the Elder Gods elements or domains of power. They're not the god of wind, god of war, god of death, etc. they're just the Elder Gods, they all have identical abilities, complete power over everything.

And since Shinnok isn't a god of any kind anymore, he only has the powers of ruler of the dead, hence all the skeleton moves.

mmmh... can't seem to find the video again. From what I remember it was like his Character bio from MKA (had the MKA bios theme, or a similar one) except, they spoke more about the story. Vogel comes on and describes Shinnok as the God of Despair. I distinctly remember that because my reaction to when he said it was very negative. I also mention it in the Fan Assessment podcast that we (fans) did coming to MKvsDC's release.

After also doing a search of everytime I've mentioned Shinnok on MKO, I repeat that sentiment in relation to Shinnok almost every time going years back. As soon as I find it again, I will post it.

I do NRS creating another game that encompasses the remaining 'old' games, but most likey not in the way you expect.

I say MK4 is a must, but most of events in MK:DA and on may not even possible in this timeline.

The ending of Mortal Kombat basically tells us that Shinnok is getting ready to make his move so we know the basic events of MK4 are on their way. And now there is plenty of room for all those MK4 characters to really shine. However, some of the stories maybe different, especially those characters with connections to those that died in this timeline but didn't in the old one. Kai comes to mind, since it was Liu Kang who brings in into the fight. Sonya without Jax is another. Also, will Raiden be offered or, if he is, accept the Elder God job at the end? If he does, will we see more of Fujin taking over the Protector of Earth Realm in the games following?

As for MK:DA events, I don't even see a Deadly Alliance being created. There is no reason for Quan Chi and Shang Tsung to join forces. No Liu Kang or Shao Kahn to kill. There is already a power vacuum in Outworld and lets be honest, even though she had some backing there is no way for Mileena to take over and/or keep power without majorly expensive aid. Even Earth's defenses are most likely still weak and with way fewer defenders than there was in the old timeline.

I do see the new MKDA characters showing up, but once again having more room but with a few twists. Frost without Sub-Zero (unless he comes back), Nitara was able to start her hunt for her homeworld sooner, without a Deadly Alliance will Lei Mei be enslaved this time, did Bo Rai Cho already leave Earth to return to Outworld, the Red Dragon with a key Black Dragon already dead, is Kenshi and Johnny Cage distantly related. This list can go on.

The events of MK:D are even less likely go occur with the exception of Onaga's return. There is no three way brawl between Raiden and the Deadly Alliance since there is no Deadly Alliance. Ergo, no Dark Raiden! I do see Onaga showing up and killing anyone who may have taken over the Outworld throne. Be it Mileena, Shang Tsung or even Shinnok. Yes, I do se Shinnok as a possible survivor of the MK4 events and he is more than strong enough to take over Outworld IF he's sees Quan Chi's betrayal this time around. A few twists, who has that Dragon Mediallion that Subby had the first time around? What's Noob without Cyber Smoke? Will Noob (aka Elder Sub-Zero) team up with the soul of his now dead cyber younger brother instead? Without Kabal, will Kira and Kobra be Black Dragon or join the Red Dragon instead?

MK:Armageddan hopefully never happens. That was the whole point of Dark Raiden sending those messages to Light Raiden. To prevent it.

Well...
I was thinking some of the old mysteries could return, for one, like rumored and unfinished characters, Belokk, Zebron, the works, for characters, along with bringing back the classics in some way, shape, or form.

Maybe Raiden, without help of most heroes, just commits suicide again, but on Shnnok. Shujinko fights back against Hotaru, he fininshes his quest early, etc.

I was thinking about this the other day, but with time travel it looks MK could be like the Terminator of fighting games since Rayden might have put the universe into a constant loop. Also, the Terminator series had different lessons in time travel like "no fate but what we make" and "things are inevitable, you can't avoid destiny"

MK 10 will have some things that will happen differently and some that will stay the same no matter what. A Deadly Alliance could still form, but different characters and Sub-Zero reclaims the Lin Kuei Grandmaster leadership. But things are different, there is no Outerworld Invesigation Agency since Sonya seems to go AWOL and now the good guys have to fight their own friends who are being controlled by Quan Chi.

Just some food for thought.

I always thought that was pretty silly.

T1: "Kyle was meant to come back in time, otherwise John never would've been born."

T2: "Time travel can change the future, we prevented the war!"

Everything that came after: "Nuh-uh. Still happens."
