Who else agrees that there are too many fire-using characters in Mortal Kombat?
I mean look at this list:
Kintaro - Shoots Fireballs
Liu Kang - Has many fire moves
Kai - Uses fireballs ala Liu.
Tanya - Shoots fireballs, while they are purple they are still fire-like to me
Blaze - Is made from fire
Shang Tsung - Also shoots fireball-like objects
Goro - Has some fireballs moves in the later games.
Sektor - Uses many fire moves
Scorpion - Firebreath and hell moves
Sonya Blade - Fire kiss fatality
Smoke - A product released from Fire
Sheeva - Shoots fireballs
I probably forget someone.
Who should use the fire, and who should back down and find another hobby?
In my opinion the fire-uses should be: Scorpion (hellfire), Liu Kang (hopefully he's dead tho), Kintaro (the quick fireballs) and Sektor (but only the flamethrower)
- Shang Tsung should use souls that don't look like fire at all.
- Kai should change into a tiger/athletic character without fireballs.
- Tanya should use magic, not fire magic.
- Sheeva doesn't return so I don't care.
- Smoke = more like smoke so he's cool.
- Goro, Blaze and Sonya Blade should kill themselves for all I care.
I really hope there are only few (Scorpion and Sektor) fire-users in MKX, and I really hope we won't see new characters with fire based moves!
Fire is really the Wolverine/Scorpion of the elemental-family... Poor wind, earth and water...

Heheh I see where you going. I'm actually happy that your finally being liked by people here. If anything, I'm a bit proud. Theres no reason for me to be jealous (I'm not that guy)
I just took the "you should work for NRS" as a joke.

A sorcerer is basically just someone who practises magic and uses it alot in his/her fighting. What the kind of magic they use is something else. Quan Chi is a sorcerer using necromancy as his magic of choice.
I think NRS like to keep vague so if something happens they can just say it's magic or a spell or whatever. I'd like Quan Chi more if he was JUST a necromancer or if Shang Tsung could only steal souls and transform into people.
Leave all the big vaguely defined magic to characters like Shinnok and Shao Kahn.

I agree 100% with this.
I'd like Quan Chi to focus on necromancy, bones, undead and all that stuff. And Shang on shapeshifting and soul-magic.
Shinnok would indeed the guy for the Jean Grey/Professor X/Exodus/X-Man role, characters that can do almost anything and have multiple stuff going on.

Well more like Orchid from Killer Instict, the Byakko (white tiger spirit from Chinese mythology) spirit takes over Kai's body in some moves and fatalities, not the entire time.

BAZINGA!
U forgot Kobra, Taven, & Daegon. LoL. I definitely agree, way too many fire-benders. NRS is probably fixing this problem since they're having to make 3 variations for everyone. I have a hunch we r done with the shokans too. The NRS chalkboard should say "Scorpion = HellFire, LiuKang = DragonFire, KotaL Kahn = SunFire, see management for anyone else"
Not gona lie, the first time I saw Kai on the MK4 arcade, I assumed he was gona be some kinda awesome were-tiger. But then he did handstands and shot fireballs. I was all WTF?!

I'm okay with Kai using fireballs. He's the only one who can shoot them up from the ground or down from the sky. That's unique to Kai.
And to clarify, Sektor uses rockets. Rockets are really just explosives and not really a fire based attack. If they were incendiary that'd be different. Only fire move he has is the flamethrower and he's a killer cyborg, I don't see why he wouldn't have a flamethrower.

Ashrah does it too, though it's not fire, but more like a holy light energy ball thingy...

Not up through the ground just overhead. Sektor does it too with rockets.

I don't think it'd be so bad or really noticeable if they just toned Scorpion's hellfire use the fuck down.
Remember when the only thing he did flame-related was Toasty? They've added more and more and more flame-based traits to his moves and it's gotten old. Flaming spears, flaming flipkicks, hellfire summoning, to the point where now he's straight up launching fire blasts from his bare hands. And all this, just to make him more of an 'opposite' to Sub-Zero. He's so much less 'ninja spectre' nowadays than he is 'hellspawn' and it's just irritating.

He's a Sorcerer.
He was able to bring Sindel back to life.
Necromancers cannot bring someone back to life.
They can only reanimate/summon the dead.
Yes there is a big difference.
Sorcerer.

Common fire usage in martial arts themed games is actually fairly logical.
Street Fighter basically popularized the Fireball move we know today. Its taking a martial artist's channeling of Chi to a sci-fi/fantasy level. Chi is similar to focus/energy. Energy is heat. A sudden expulsion of channeled Chi would logically result in a blast of energy/heat capable of incinerating. At least in exagerated, fantasy logic.
Its not about fire, but energy, though the two are almost interchangeable.
Now, characters like Scorpion are not drawing their power from Chi, so his use of fire is different than that of someone like Liu Kang who is certainly a master of focusing his energy. Though both use what manifests tangibly as fire, they are actually very different.
