Its still up in the air who the big bad/boss is going to be. Now that Shang Tsung is back in the picture I can see him being Boons "surprise return". I would like to think the last boss will be a better surprise, though, and if anything is kept secret I really hope this feature is the thing I don't find out about til release.

Fun post, but I don't think Ed Boon is really that clever to come up with this sort of thing. Personally, I still think its gonna be Mileena (the M in the picture being what to focus on).

If it is Shang Tsung, fine, but he better have a fucking soul steal fatality, instead of that joke throwaway fatality that they wanted to give to The Joker in MKvsDC but couldn't.

I still think your reading way into it and it's just an M for Mileena. We'll see.

I've no doubt that Mileena will be in the main roster, so many above posts seem to have jumped to the conclusion that I'm saying "No to Mileena", I'm just saying that Boon could be hinting at more than just Mileena- look at today's tweets... The Bernie Mac pic is obvious, Ermac.

But look at the teaser of tomorrow's stream- Most have guessed at Rain, Mileena, Ermac, Shang Tsung and Skarlet but thinking outside of the box (Twitter & forums) and doing some thinking rather than guessing and you find stuff like this:

Mind Over Splatter! which sounds pretty damn close to the sounds in the teaser.

Boon is a troll and a game player; the games (hints) aren't always easy or obvious, they can be complex too.

I really hope Shang is in this game as a DLC or disguised as someone else. It'd be cool if he had a snake style variation.

Here is the thing about Shang Tsung:

-he has been fucked over pretty bad in MK9 both design and plot-wise. The weasel should probably get his comeuppance, but not like becoming energy drink for Sindel....


On one hand, originally he is THE boss, plus he had a very decent run in the original timeline: killed Kang and Lao, got to the pyramid first... Shang is awesome because he either has a backup plan, or gets result and only then falls. So in a sense I am not against the idea that he could be put to rest as the original badguy.

Too bad his brother incarnation Hugh Hefner did not share his awesome wardrobe and his intelligence / was hijacked by Quan Chi....

IF he returns tho, they should probably do something different with him in order to avoid rehashing stuff. Either be the token badguy on the good guys team (as much as I hate the distinctions)... somehow bound by Raiden and his morally questionable logic... or do something akin to Konquest, where it was shown that originally he wasn't just a mustache twirling jackass.

wasnt it leaked somewhere that shinnok had a fireball move that came out of the ground like shangs did, if that's true then i doubt shang is playable

I absolutely love Shang... but if they are gonna bring him back just to treat him the MK9 way, then no thanx. I have way great memories of him and I don't want it ruined.

They will go back for him once they realize Quan Chi is super boring and that Shang Tsung is just as iconic as Scorp and Sub

i would love Shang to be in this game but have kind of written off his chances. so have bee hoping for Reiko.
