Out of all the new characters, they seem like the least popular, and I've frequently read that they're hard to play as. Big surprise there.

Are Ferra and Torr already shaping up to be the next Stryker or Drahmin, distinctive characters with excitingly challenging gameplay who of course are hated by scrubs, and who become unlikely to return in any new MK games other than Trilogy-like installments?

I hope I heard wrong, and that they aren't already unpopular. I do hope they're as challenging to play as as I've heard, however.

I'm actually intrigued by these two the most in terms of the story and role they will play in this game. With Raiden and Kotal Kahn both saying that they want to "help" and "restore" them in their pre-fight dialogue, I'm curious to know exactly what their story is.

In terms of gameplay though, they could be interesting. I usually don't use the bigger, slower characters. The only one I have used in recent memory was Bane in Injustice, but I only used him every now and again due to the fact that he is extremely low tier and is hard to hold your own against people who can move 2x or 3x as fast as him. I hope Ferra/Torr doesn't fall the same fate, but I have my worries that she/he might.

It seems that way. I am not sure why though, I think they are an interesting duo. I want to know more about them.

I think it's the design.

They don't look very MK, especially Ferra. Maybe it's that they don't look impressive enough. Kotal Kahn looks amazing in play style, Cassie is also neat. I think it's that they aren't ever impressive.

I need to see them more though.

I've always found those arguments of characters not fitting in annoying. Like we can't have diversity in MK.

This whole thing about not "looking MK" has long been said about Stryker and the cyborgs too, and while they still have their detractors (Stryker, especially), most of the MK fanbase have always loved the cyborgs, and they seem more accepting of Stryker now. If he's no longer considered out of place, then what makes the duo of Ferra and Torr so "unfitting"? Besides, "fitting in" is so overrated.

I disagree that their designs aren't impressive. I find Torr refreshing as far as regular characters go, as he's probably the first heavyweight non-boss we've had in while. We've never had someone as small as Ferra before, which makes it disappointing imo that she isn't individually playable.

Generally, the big brute-type characters are not everyone's cup of tea. Torr and Ferra will have some fans, but the majority will ignore them, probably including myself. We can already see it happen in every game expo that has a playable version of MKX. People are more attracted to faster kombatants like Cassie, Devorah, and Kotal.

Thankfully, the Ferra/Torr tandem has the ''Vicious'' variation that may attract a broader public interest. I think this is the variation I'll be exploring, because I do like the idea behind this 2-in-1 character.

FT: Ugly design, lame name, and most likely hard to use. Yup, I don't care for this character at all.

Personally, I think the problem is they're a character who just physically attacks and doesn't have any special effects.

The only other ones like that MK has ever had are Drahmin (and that's only if you don't count his flies) and Moloch.

Doesn't help that Torr doesn't talk and Ferra has Hulk-grammar, how deep a story can a mute and a primitive tribal person have?

Really?!

Ferra/Torr is already better than Kitana...oh that's right, she is not even in MKX yet and probably won't be except for a cameo in story-mode. Even if she becomes DLC, it wouldn't matter because she won't have a role in story-mode except for a cameo as I already mentioned.

Besides, Ferra/Torr are more interesting than any of the returning.

Also, Ferra/Torr and D'Vorah are two of Boon's new favorites, so....they'll be in MKXI.

My lack of interest in Ferra/Torr stems from the fact that we know next to nothing about them. I like their gameplay and I think it is pretty interesting. But I gotta know more about them before I really jump on board with these 2.

Agree, and I didn't think about his lack of speech and her odd grammar until now. I mean, yeah, they can have a story....but its gonna have a comic relief feel no matter what they do because of how she talks. Eh, not my cup o' tea.

Ferra and Torr are on my Top 3 favorites out of the announced (this includes the returning characters). I can see why some people don't like them, but they really intrigue me. I like Ferra's lack of grammar, too. I don't know why, but I can't wait to see their back story!

Yup, dead on arrival. Don't worry, we'll see them again in 8-10 years for the next Trilogy-esque game.

I think a fighting variation video like Raiden, Kano, and Quan Chi got, would do Ferra/Torr a lot of good. Get more people interested in this duo.

Rrriiiight... because a character is probably not involved in a game that automatically means he/she is worse than a character that is in. That's some brilliant thinking right there...

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
...except not really.
C'mon let's not trash someone's favorite just because they said somethin you don't like about yours.

In the reality where Kitana has died crying and sniveling like a wimp at the hands of her mother. tongue

She didn't even have the luxury of getting an organ ripped out or her neck snapped. She just died via...weird soul bullshit.

Anyway yeah Brawlers/Grapplers are almost always underrated in fighting games so no big change there...

Your full post is an assumptions-fest:

1. You haven't played with Ferra/Torr...

2. You cannot be sure that Kitana's not in MKX...

To put it simply, your claim is based on nothing. It's sad and funny at the same time. Find better arguments before you post speculations and personal opinions as an universal fact.

I think Ferra herself is extremely annoying and I'm upset that fatalities are done on Torr only.

She did take WAY more damage than the other kombatants, who just died/get knocked out by a few punches or kicks.
