This is actually the second tweet about her - shortly after MKX was announced he replied to a tweet with 'Li Mei or Mei not be in' , an obvious pun on may or may not be in.

Whilst this does confirm nothing, usually he outright de-confirms characters that aren't in the game, so this gives me some hope that she'll at least have a cameo!

You mei have a point...Boon certainly has a bias towards some characters and flat out hated Hsu Hao!

Sounds like a story mode thing, which makes sense because shes pretty integral to Deception.

It is an interesting thing. Li Mei kind of represents Outworld's normal population so it would actually make sense to some degree for her to show up. The circumstances would obviously be vastly different (no Shang Tsung and Quan Chi enslaving her village) but she could be a representation of the strife caused by the Outworld civil war.

Could she emerge as a refugee leader? A patriot that joins what she perceives to be a righteous ruler (Kotal?). There's a lot that could happen.

I would bet she shows up, not necessarily playable, but she will be seen.

Boon is very quick to say "No." to almost every character/aspect from that era returning. So when he doesn't, he wants you to pay attention.

I vote NPC cameo. BoRaiCho will have a secret dojo for the OutWorld resistance. She'll be in the background sparring with Apep ;)

i wouldnt mind lei mei taking over the golden boy liu kang role and letting him evolve into something else.

She'll just end being a cameo of some sorts. They would be never waste there time making her playable. She's forgettable and boring.

Love to see her back but floored if she makes main roster or even DLC - very much doubt it will happen. Story mode cameo?, - almost certainly.

It will be a huge misopportunity if she isnt playable. The story is about Outworls in a civil war! Li Mei is one of the normal people there. She could ally with Bo or Kotal and help fight against Mileena. Like im going to be shocked if they dont use her. She has to at least be DLC. Her, Kenshi, Bo, and Frost are the only characters from Deadly Alliance that appeared in Deception or Unchainced they obviously liked those characters. Im gonna be very mad if they just kill all of them off except Bo, Kenshi, Fujin, and Tanya. I feel like they are screwing over the fans of the 3D era. Sure, there are unforgivable characters like Hsu Hao, Drahmin, Mokap, Blaze, Darrius, Kobra, Taven and Jarek. But they should at least try Tanya, Fujin, Shinnok, Kai, Reiko, Li Mei, Bo Rai Cho, Frost, Nitara, Ashrah, Sareena, Kira, Havik, and Hotaru. If they fail a second time. Goodbye. Whatever. But they should at least try for the fans. Most of them would be great if they were given an opportunity. If we dont at least see a few of them i might consider not buying it because it a big middle finger to the fans.

She never had a good idea for her special moves. She had punches, a sparkly fireball and Reiko's kick. What are you supposed to do with that?

Story cameo as a regular Outworlder probably due to appearing "in some capacity" which is fine.

Maybe She could be in 11 but she needs more thought put into her before that happens.

Like any character (Except Mokap), I'd love to see her return playable if she got an updated move set and look. I do think she will definitely appear in story mode.

Personally I would scrap all her existing moves and start fresh. Her story could be the same or at least extremely similar, maybe involve Bo Rai Cho more.

I would turn her into the "Chun Li" or "Juri" of the MK universe. Li Mei would have kicks, kick projectiles and more kicks. She'd be the reverse Kung Lao in that he does 1000 punches, she does 1000 kicks.

I'm not gonna get my hopes too high up, but this nonetheless makes me enthusiastic.

She came back in MKD against all expectations. I remember how so many back then were certain she wouldn't return. Damn, that was awesome. Here's hoping she defies the odds once again.

Her best designs were her MK:DA primary and her Samurai getup, though the other two were good too. Her "brutality" was easily her best fatality.

Storywise, I had this idea of her trying to claim the throne of Outworld, and struggling to resist giving in to the temptations of power, but it's looking like that might be Kotal's story, so this idea brought up by other posters of Li Mei representing the Outworld citizen sounds great too.

There're so much bias and double standard when it comes to Li Mei: "oh, she's just a regular inhabitant from Outworld, that's what makes her unique, such potential" pure bs, Dairu and Darius are regular humanoid inhabitants from Seido, Why are they so hated and not Li Mei, or even Frost to an extent, because bewbs obviously.

Well that's an oversimplification and generalization. Every character has potential. Regarding Dairou and Darrius that is true as well. I'd advocate for them to a degree if Seido and the Chaosrealm were known to be active players in MKX.

Oversimplification and generalization are this fanbase's bread and butter so it will make it easier to get my point across. That said, I agree with what you said about reps from different realms making it in.

Well yeah, but Seido is basically full of normal looking people. Outworld has monsters and scary creatures, so its very different, plus the story mostly takes place in Outworld.

Revamp her, duh.

Because humans are the minority in Outworld? we have had a bunch of humanoid Outworlders let alone humans in the whole MK saga, that doesn't make her special, like, at all. Besides, Seido and Chosrealm can be easily retconned to include a variety of races. Tbh, we can't even accurately tell what kind of creatures inhabit those worlds because of the limited models they used for each realm in Deception.

Finally, only a segment of the story takes places in Outworld, Earthrealm and the Netherrealm will have equally important roles if not more, so that point is mute.

Why does it bother you that people want Li Mei? Ever heard of other people's preferences?
