I don't really care.
i'd be cool with the way it was in mka.. but only if they make it awesome like mkdcu's fighting system.
it shoulkd fight like DOA or Tekken and the weapons should play like soul calibur
now THAT would be badass

Personally, I would try to transition out of stances and go Tekken 6 if weapons get in the mix. One style with weapon attacks.

Nah, never liked the concept. Leave that to the other games. Stick to basics. 2D style.

Maybe. It's pretty fun to go through and see what I can do even though I usually don't use the weapons.

Maybe a weapon could make an appearance in a combo, but not as a a separate fighting style.

Personally, I love the idea of using real martial arts and weapons in MK games. To me, it fits, because not only is MK a fighting game series, but it does involve martial arts. I mean, the Mortal Kombat tournament is a martial arts tournament afterall.
I would like it if they brought back martial arts and weapons, but they don't have to do it in the same way they did it in MKDA-MKA. They could have the hand-to-hand fighting be similar to Tekken or Virtua Fighter in which some characters specialize in one martial art while others take influence from various arts. There could be some characters that have style switching but in the way Virtua Fighter does it with the likes of Vanessa when she switches from Vale Tudo to Kickboxing. However, we could also have an MK: Shaolin Monks influence with the usage of fighting styles by having a button represent a fighting style. Then again, that might be too complicated. The weapon fighting could be somewhat like Soul Calibur's system with the horizontal/vertical system.

I thought it was a cool, and original idea.. but because there were so many styles to do.. they just kind of slacked off, and thought "hey.. we got a shitload of fighting styles/moves.. why do we need to make the game play well when we can just add more shit to it."
if they execute it well like.. a style and a weapon.. i'd be all for that.
but here is what i'd need if they did that:
*don't show the name of the weapon/style on screen
*weapon fatality as well as non weapon fatalities
*if the opponent is attacking with a weapon.. instead of blocking it (which just looks really dumb) maybe the characters can just dodge the weapon
*a brief second of the character taking the weapon out. it makes it more cinematic, and it makes it so that the character has to be away from the opponent while he pulls it out (it's better than the thing just appearing)
*something simple.. like soul calibur's horizontal/vertical/kick control
*the ability to impale. i thought this was a really cool idea in deadly alliance.. and when i didn't see it again, i was pretty sad. It was a cool idea.. it was hard to pull off, but if it was, it made the match more intense
*and most importantly.. WEAPON GRABS. I think that'd be awesome

I myself like the idea of authentic martial arts too, but I figure some of the characters wouldn't have real martial arts in their arsenal. I could see someone like Baraka or Reptile making use of various weird techniques and such.
As for weapons, dunno if I'd keep 'em in or out. After all, they add some intensity to the game. But at the same time...
So I'd have it more revamped from how the last trilogy did it but give us something new too that'd be nice for it too just like that was. XD

It's more complicated to try to remember every combo with multiple fighting stances. I think just one fighting stance will be fine.
And to resurrect an old classic, IMO, have characters have weapons, though they need to perform a move like they did with MK4. I'd like to see that gun return that Fujin had. That was basically the cheapest weapon ever in a game!

Yeah, it'd be cool to see something like that again, but... it'd also just be awkward.
I'd say one fighting stance is more than enough too, Icebaby. Just have multiple combos for that style. Tekken, the Soul Saga (Soul Edge and Soul Calibur), DOA, and Virtua Fighter have done that, and Capcom's games have had really no set combos. XD

Mmm, I wouldn't really want a stout "yes" on either. I prefer the way it was back in the MK1-T days. Fatansy, then + Realism from the way characters looked and fought.
Except, to improve on that, only some characters would have weapons, and to accompany said weapon, would be some sort of cool aesthetic. So that it doesn't look as if the weapon, during a combo, is appearing out of thin air (which it basically would be, it'd just look cool depending on how they did it).
But, I kinda liked that little surprise from Scorpion or Jade, or even Stryker back then.
Far as martial arts styles, I've stated before that I'm really not in favor of "super-defined" style(s) per character. But rather, fiction should rule, and the actual martial arts should be a heavy influence on whatever character. That, and not every character should adhere to a technical "martial arts". Some people are just really good fighters (however rare, but that's the point if a character is good enough to make the MK roster right?).
There just seems to be a balance of realism and fantasy that I'm attracted to about that idea.
Um, I more or less support that a characters development (attitude, personality, experiences ect..), and things in their backstory should dictate how they perform when they fight.

I think it might be ok to have the weapon just go in with the hand to hand kombat. like some kombos just have a weapon in them like in mk3. But only for the characters where the weapons are important to the character (like kabal/kano/nightwolf/etc)

i liked DA and deception gameplay, even tough the infinites should be deleted and all the glitches corrected.a revisioned version of this gameplay would fit perfectly for me

I'd actually prefer one fighting style and one weapon style, so each character could have more moves into their moveset.

I think there needs to be a deeper and more flowing approach to fighting styles in the MK games. I mean, every character knowing two fighting styles and one weapon style is a bit convenient, isn't it? Also, a lot of the characters from other realms seem to use Earthrealm style martial arts, which always sort of bothered me. Why on earth would the Queen of Edenia know Eagle Claw kung fu? Wouldn't they have their own styles?
Some characters are becoming more and more associated with their weapons. I think characters like Liu Kang should remain weaponless, but it would not make sense for a weapons exert like Scorpion to not bust a sword out during combat.
A balance, with some characters mixing various influences into a personal style, others memorising several styles from the book (seems like a Johnny Cage thing to do), with some layers of improvisation, would be brilliant. Holding a trigger button, for example, could be what causes a Scorpion or Kenshi to pull their swords out, for example.

the fighting styles. i never use the weapons because there not as effective because just fighting you can go beyong with long combo's. i never use the weapons. id go more fighting, its encouraging for the more use of martial arts. because i like the idea of that in MK, is martial arts.

And using a weapon is not martial arts in the first place?
I long for the MKDA - MKD - and partially to the MKA period. Given that I have any affection for MK, still...

I always highly disliked the fighting stances/styles
idea. It made characters, in my opinion, seem slower.
I like mk vs. dcu fighting gameplay alot.
