honestly the fact that before MKX was even announced I considered Fujin/Shinnok etc locks for the game and now I'm worried about even them making it in kinda fucking sucks. I definitely don't blame fans for being pissed off, but I'm going to hold my judgement until the game actually releases. I still am betting we'll see 2-3 MK4-MKA characters not including Kenshi/Quan.

Well we have a direct quote from Ed saying the roster would be around the size of MK9 give or take, we have a direct quote from Ed saying we'd see an MK4 fighter as well as fighters from the later games, and we have a direct quote about this game having the most new fighters.

That requires at least 1 fighter from DA and/or Deception, maybe 2, at least 4 more new characters to match the previous total of new characters in a game and then maybe 1 more MK4 character depending on whether Ed considers Quan Chi a Mythologies or a 4 character cause I don't remember if that quote was before or after Quan Chi's reveal.

That's at least 5-7 more characters right there.

So, given that, we have;

I was excited to see Kitana, until I saw they gave her a Jade variation, and that pretty much tanked my hype for her.

MKX is apparently going to have a lot of nifty modes/features and I have no doubts about the story mode, but I can definitely say no other MK game has really missed the mark this badly for me as far as roster is concerned (as of this posting).

Agreed. Some of the last few games I've been hyped for have had some of the most lackluster rosters.

I'm still getting this day one of course, just feel like they played it waaaay too safe with the cast of characters.

I"m not gonna lie, i'm disapointed with Jax and Sonya in the final rooster, specially Jax.

I do believe that mileena is gonna be in the game. I like her. i am also really hoping for Reiko, Fujin, Tanya, Shinnock, Smoke, Havik, Sareena...

All i want to know is the number of characters in the final rooster. If it is 24, and right now is 17 with Jax, Sonya and probably mileena. (18+ with goro), Then there are only 7 spots remaining.

So i hope it will be 30. because i really want +6 new characters and +7 returning ones. not so sure it is going to happen =/

Too much charas from the previous title for my liking but I'll survive.

That future DLC sounds like way too much, the Kombat pack is most likely going to be the DLC plus Goro and that's about it.

NO way this game will have less DLC characters than Injustice (6), it's definitely gonna be at least the same amount. That, and Goro isn't a REAL DLC character, he's already in the game as seen in the latest trailer/video, he's only a pre-order unlockable.

I would argue that MKX characters are significantly harder to create than the MK9's ones, I still believe the roster wont be as big as MK9 for that reason, expecting the number of DLC to be the same as if there was some unspoken rule that it can't be lower than the previous game doesn't convince me, and on disc-locked Goro sucks.

I personally just find it highly unlikely that they wouldn't match or beat the size of the roster of MK9... so I'm expecting 27 or more.

Not counting Kratos. Not counting DLC. Just the default roster + Quan Chi and Cyber Sub-Zero. I think they'll aim to match or beat it.

BUT... who knows... They seem to be rather proud of the select screen in the podcasts... and it has a lot more work than usual, with unique animations and dialogue... not just renders or the fighter models in default poses. So I doubt it would get a drastic redesign at this point.

If they are doing more than 24, they'd need to add a row, or some sort of popup secret select box. But if the additional fighters are secret, that wouldn't be unheard of.

i cant see them using the chaos realm for invasions and not include havik for some context. are there any other characters from chaos realm?

sonya might be playable based on that uk trailer but its just her face on the factions icon, maybe thats customizable. ive seen cassies face front and side view with shades. i dont see jax but i think hes in, mileena is definitely in, erron black would be cool. the statue that could be liu kang definitely has a shaolin pose and a headband. but then takeda has a headband and sleeveless ryu gi. plus TK according to the script thing, maybe thats just how he concentrates like kenshi's temporal d-pad.

i wouldnt care if no more 3d era characters were announced but we know there will be a few come on. with shinnok and kamidogus, thats where the story is at.

This list can easily change though. Like just because someone is a lead role in the digital series, that doesn't necessarily mean they're playable in the game but I included them just in case. Also, I think the perfect klassic DLC pair would be Liu Kang and Shang Tsung so I included them there. Shinnok and Havik may have boss-like roles if they're included too.

Liu kang was actually seen on the arcade tower. Not the living tower.

I've been saying this since the Kitana reveal. This roster is basically Deadly Alliance 2.0, in the way of bringing back most fan favorites (in essence, the casts of MK1+2) and a nice number of new characters. It's a very safe selection overall, unlike Deception, which dropped most of the fan favorites and took a chance with some of the unpopular MK3 cast.

Expect something very similar, which means most of the MK1 and MK2 cast returning, very little of MK3 (1 or 2 fighters, probably Ermac and Cyrax) and the 8-10 new characters. I'd be surprised to get more than 1 3D revamp, excluding Quan Chi and Kenshi.

I don't mind it as a roster. It could be much worse, but it's nothing special. Deception still has the most impressive roster, IMO, not counting the trilogy reunion games. My guesses for the rest of the roster are as follows: If only 24 at launch (excluding Goro) - Sonya, Johnny, Liu, Jax, Mileena, x MK9 returnee, x 3D-character, Takeda, Jacqui, Kung Jin, Salazar/Erron Black. The last MK9 returnee would be Kenshi, Shang Tsung, Cyrax or Smoke. If Cyrax and/or Smoke don't make it on the main roster, I have high hopes for them as DLC. The 3D character would be Shinnok, Fujin, Reiko or Bo' Rai Cho. I can't see anyone else (sorry Frost and Tanya). I think Fujin is most likely. Baraka and maybe Shang would be the only MK1-2 characters not in the initial roster, plus that's 8 new characters. If we get more than 24 at launch, then throw in some of the ones I mentioned, but more than likely means more new characters. I still wouldn't expect more than 1 3D character.
