Retconning the purple skies of Outworld? Huh?
We know Outworld does have purple skies in some areas and normal-toned skies in others. It's nothing new.
As others have mentioned, Outworld is a massive conglomerate realm. It's not going the look the same throughout its entirety when it's a bunch of smaller, highly-distinctive realms forced together.
The Wastelands and the Living Forest have shown the former (and were represented in MK9,) and the Drum Village, Golden Desert and Dragonfly showed the latter.

Or it's just a cheeky way to poke fun at the fact that they've always tried to give Outworld a particular atmosphere by coloring its skies purple.
Which they didn't do all the time anyway. I mean, there have been plenty of non-purple skies in Outworld stages in previous MK games.

Because the story of the game was written before the comic. and I'm sure the comic writer was instructed not to give any spoilers. Now that tha game is out, "what will happen in the comic" interests me.

Besides, it's not entirely true. At the very least, Takeda's backstory is pretty consistent in the comic and the game. And again, the mention of the Reiko Accords is something I'm sure will be explored and explained in the comics later on.
Most of the inconsistencies are very superifical. Things like the exact year count, or failing to note Kotal Kahn's real skin color in the comic. I mean, I guess we can assume that he has his skin paint on ALL the time, even as a kid, but yeah, that was something that confused me. But the characters' backstories and the events of the comics don't actually contradict the game directly.
Aside from Goro, but hey, Goro's presence in the game is about as canon as the Kurrent versions of Kung Lao and Liu Kang. They're there for gameplay purposes only.

None of that holds water. If the game's story was made first, why weren't scripts and art assets sent to the comic's creative team to insure that everything lined up properly? If your first statement is accurate, it specifically isn't the comic writer's fault.

Kotal Kahn's concept art says that the blue skin is actually body paint. You can see this in game if you look at him during a close up, his skin is covered in a very paint-like texture. I prefer him blue, though.
I'm not sure on that second issue though.

How in God's name has no one mentioned the fact that Kotal Kahn and all Osh-tekk are blue/green in the comics, But in the game Kotal is flesh colored in the past and only turns blue in some unexplained manner after becoming emperor.
Furthermore Kotal's guards are themselves referred to as Osh-tekk in the mobile game, and are also flesh colored, but since all Osh-tekk are supposed to be dead, that also makes little to no sense.

I think somebody mentioned Quan Chi is also painted, as it comes off when he`s damaged.
Years ago we discussed the purple outworld sky. It was mostly agreed to be a time of day issue, until Deception`s Konquest...

I don't believe they retconned out the purple sky of the Wastelands, its probably a location thing, I don't care what know it all kung jin says lol we just saw it again in the last game and until somebody from NRS says they got rid of the purple sky thing I will assume its just ignorance on Jin's part.

I don`t even get why it`s an issue.
Earths sky in real life is purple sometimes.
Time of day, lighting, weather, volcanic activity.

One I noticed immediately: Scorpion says his wife and child were called Harumi and Satoshi. The comic used Legacy's names: Kana and Jubei.

Most successful video game franchises have had tons of inconsistencies and plot holes. Frankly, this is good by MK standards. Considering the kind of inconsistencies we had to deal with in the PS2 versions of MK games, this is nothing.

I guess that's a way to handwave it.

I can't find the interview currently, but there is one where Kittelson explicitly states he read the story mode script multiple times before writing the comics. Any inconsistencies are soley on him as far as I'm concerned.
If the casual MK player can spot them on the first playthrough then he clearly didn't try hard enough to match everything up, especially considering the entire draw card of the comic books was that they were supposed to lead into the game.
