Reiko, Mavado and Fujin, etc all have OLD kostumes in the komic book.
I think Tanya has slighty higher chances to be in the MKX roster.....
we did not see her in the komic...... yet..... I hope we never see her there...... and if we do, she better have a new kostume!!
I am scared.......

The story will start with a basic retelling of MK4. A little different naturally, but the broad strokes still the same. And then... the meat and potatoes of the story is going to be about taking story aspects from the MKDA-MKA era, such as Chaosrealm and the Kamidogu and... Moloch's Severed Head >_> ... and remixing them into an all new tale.
Not a re-telling of any of those games by any means. But a way of tying up the loose ends they leave, while still moving things in an all new direction. A way of keeping the good things from the 3D era, while eliminating many of the regrettable aspects.
We've seen little hints, little bits and little bobs of it in the stuff we've seen thus far, and even a few of those cameos and deaths already. But I'd presume and guess they'd rightfully want to keep most of it hidden from us before the game is released.
I mean Deadly Alliance is easily removed from the new timeline, but the plots of Armageddon and Deception are things that began before MK1 even started... and they're stories that will need to be addressed. Where are Taven and Daegon? Is Taven still asleep? Did he wake up? Will he wake up? Where is Blaze? Where is Shujinko? Was Onaga awakened? If so who defeated him? If not, what became of his plot and his body? Why are the damn Kamidogu knives now? (I assume the answer lies in the same territory as many of the other questions) If these stories aren't being re-told, like MK4 (which is very likely) then they'll need to be re-routed in new directions.
This likely means death for the characters of that era they deem useless. Playable appearances for the cream of the crop. The rest cameos somewhere in-between (perhaps mentioned and fleshed out a bit for potential DLC). And that basically goes for all characters from MK4-MKA
All that said, if MK4 goes more or less the same as it did in the old canon, I presume quite heavily Quan Chi will live, and I also presume quite heavily he will have a large hand to play in the later events of the story. I mean that's just what he DOES. He's kind of arguably become the master villain of the series in a lot of ways... even if not always the final boss. His machinations always seem to be working a step above Shangs, Kahns or even Shinnoks. He always has a plan behind the plan. He manipulates the baddest of the bad guys. Onaga seemed to be the only one who didn't fall under his games, which is why I kind of respect Onaga as a villain. He really came in and laid his power down. No nonsense. He doesn't get enough credit, and I hope he doesn't just get written out in backstory and forgotten in the new canon. (Blaze, despite being a boss, wasn't really a villain).
But I do definitely think it's a given that Quan Chi will persist throughout the modern day plot, not just the MK4 one. His role is too significant not to. He's always at the core of the plot, even if he's not the Alpha bad guy. If nothing else, we know he's carrying Moloch's head around, and Moloch is a post MK4 character? lol...
Who IS the Alpha bad guy... is the real question.

I think Onaga needs a body that has dragon blood or it's a descendant of the great dragon race, like Zaterrans might be, so as long as Reptile is playable Onaga doesn't have a physical form yet, granted, Shujinko's quest might still have occurred but he should have died of old age by now. About Armageddon, maybe Raiden's time alteration shenanigans created a timeline where Armageddon doesn't happen (he only wanted to prevent Khan's victory), mainly because half of the "powerful warriors" died and even Shao Khan died too, so in a way that helped stabilizing the realms, power wise. If that's the case, Delia's prophesy didn't come true or will be delayed by centuries, meaning Taven won't wake from his long sleep.
I agree with you regarding MK4, its plot more or less happened like the original, ending in Shinnok's defeat, Quan Chi managed to escape his fate but I doubt he's a menacing power like he was during the Netherrealm wars, he's currently scheming to change that, obviously.

I can't wait for tremor. My money is on his debut
The more I think about it and the more I look at all the tweets the developers get, I honestly think Tremor will be in MKX under the new characters. When it comes to the others, I feel like Sareena, Reiko, Shinnok and Havik will have cameos, although I hope Havik makes a playable appearance in either the main game or DLC. When it comes to who will actually be in the game and playable I think Fujin, Tanya and Tremor will be in the game. Lots of people are saying Fujin is 'deconfirmed' due to him having the same outfit as his MK4/A appearance, but I honestly think Fujin's outfit in the comic is no way near his previous outfits, and I for one fully expect him to be in MKX.

You know, when you guys start a statement about MK4+ characters that begins with "I hope....." "I wish....." "I really want....." always end that thought with "But do the other millions of people who will buy this game across the world also want that?" Because that's where it actually matters and it's a good way to separate your tangible ideas from your fanboyish delusional ones.

I hope/I wish/I really want Havik, Fujin, Tanya and Bo Rai Cho re-imagined and back in the playable roster, will other millions of people who buy this game want that? With confidence, yes -, millions bought MK4-Deception and enjoyed those games, these were the stand out characters, the trilogy characters have been done to death. Even the players who aren't familiar with Havik, Fujin, Tanya and Bo Rai Cho will have an opportunity to see why they were stand outs and approach them as new characters. They already have a sizeable fanbase so we know that 'they work'. Given some of the new characters are already getting a tepid reception (Ferra/Torr, who, incidentally - I'm quite fond of), there is less chance new players won't take to them.
So, yes - not only do I believe that the millions buying this game want that, I think there are arguments it's in their better interests.

You know, there's a counter-argument to the whole "do casuals have any interest in these characters?" argument...
The comics seem to often focus pretty significantly on these characters (Reiko, Fujin, Hsu Hao, Mavado, Frost) and the comics are selling just fine.

Not necessarily. But the comics are definitely being used to advertise this game, no?

Just taking a shot in the dark here......but could it BE that the comic serve exactly that purpose? To throw a bone to the minority of MK fans who still have hard ons for these disposable characters?

I'd argue that Reiko is the only one you mentioned that got any significant focus.
Tasia, Jarek, Hsu Hao and Mavado were/are just minions. Frost had a small cameo that could have been given to anyone else. Fujin was just a sidekick for one scene. Reiko, comparatively, has an actually important role in the story.

Me too, I feel the same.
I'm just waiting for some Tanya konfirmation of some kind. Positive or negative.
Some people keep trying to tell me how to post and when to post, as if they were the boss of me. Now THAT is delusional on their part.
I am free to post about Tanya anytime I want. I choose when to post. And I choose when to stop. Nobody gets to tell me when to stop. I decide for myself.
People should not worry about other's posts, they should worry about their own. That's the moral of the story.
In only 2 months.... there will be no more secrets!!! MKX will be available in stores!!!
I don't know where this has come from, but people are saying that at least 4 characters from MK4 will be playable in MKX. If this is true, which I think it is, my new guesses are;
Fujin
Fan demand for this guy is WAY too big for NRS to ignore and he had a big role in MK4 which a part of MKX's storyline seems to take place in. I have no doubt that Fujin will be in MKX.
Tanya
Similar to Fujin, Tanya is another highly requested character, and the fact she was nearly DLC for MK9 solidifies her chances in MKX. I don't know what role she will play, but Tanya is a lock for MKX, imo.
Reiko
His importance in the comics is finally being recognised and it seems like he's only going to get bigger. He may not be in the story for long, but this major focus on Reiko only strengthens his chances for MKX.
I would put Shinnok down, but I can't really see Shinnok as a playable character. There is no doubt Shinnok will be in the story mode, but playable? I doubt it.
I'm guessing there'll only be two or three MKDA-MKD characters, of which I think it'll be Kenshi, Havik and maybe Bo Rai Cho.

'Sup. I don't know if anyone saw this, but it was from a few days back. Someone tweeted to Shaun Himmerick about whether or not there will be anymore characters from MK4. He said "Oh yes. Already more than 2 confirmed from mk4.".
This is good news for someone hoping for Fujin, Shinnok, or Tanya, because I believe they are more than likely in. It makes sense because Ed Boon rarely comments on them. Reiko will probably be DLC.

From what I understand, he later went on to clarify that he only meant characters who appeared in MK4, not necessarily ones that DEBUTED in MK4, and then people mis-understood him and blew it out of hand.
Which by his wording, makes perfect sense.
Technically we do already have more than 2 confirmed in Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden & Reptile.
