When did I ever specifically say that Sonya and Kitana are not more popular than Mileena? You probably have no idea what I was talking about. We were talking about how gameplay affects which characters are the most played. What does that have to do with me accepting...wut?

I mean everyone has some good combos it's just that you have to work so damn hard to win with Sindel. I mean if you really like her it's worth the effort but if you like pretty much any other character you'll probably use them more.

if thats not the case then why bring up how alot of people didnt play as her just because shes harder to use, when it really can be because people may simply dont want to use her because they dont like her?

Mileena needs longer combos, and they also need to get a bit stronger. That's why I hardly played as her. She was waaaay too weak.

If you read all the comments you would know that I did not specifically mention Mileena. I talked about how it makes sense that most of the villains in the game were the least played since they didn't have a chapter in the story mode. AND the way a character plays DEFINITELY affects how much people use them.
In every fighting game there are characters that are noob-friendly and characters that are for more experienced players. And since the % of people who take MK so seriously to play competitive is so small, then obviously the easier characters are gonna be played more. What does popularity have to do with that? Do you think Kabal is the most popular MK character?

Kabal is not all that popular but looks wise he looks cool. the hookswords are awesome. also again if kabal was not attractive to most do you think he would have been played is. my point is alot of people wont even bother using some characters just because they look unappealing to them. and if its not about populairty why are scorpion and sub among the most used? and why are for females its always kitana and sonya? those are the most popular characters for their respective genders. also wasnt jade still higher than milenna? shes not all that easy to use? why was she higher than?

Mileena has only 4 abilities, she simply needs more abilities.

I already said (about 3 times) that it's not 100% about popularity. It's about how easy they are to play and Kitana & Sonya (to a lesser extent) were easier than Sheeva, Sindel or Mileena. And they also had a chapter in Story Mode.

Anyway there's no point in continuing this discussion since it's obvious you can't understand what I am saying. It's like you're choosing to reply to some parts and you are not looking at some of the facts I am presenting.
So alright, you are right. Gameplay doesn't matter. Tier lists don't matter. Story mode doesn't matter. It's all about popularity. I guess I am the exception to frequently play with characters like Sektor, Sub Zero, Quan Chi and Kitana becoz I liked their fighting style. Even tho I wasn't that fond of them as characters.

PS. Where exactly did you find the information that Kitana and Sonya are "always" the most played females in every game?

both of them have mor epopular than milenna since mk2. also have to take into account how they are ATTRACTIVE. that forces some freaks to love them because of that. Sheeva as a terrible looking character. thats why no one likes her. Jade is more attractive than milenna also. they all look better and that is a large part of why they are played as more. what attracts someone to play as a character they never tried or know nothing about? their looks. maybe they made those characters easier on purpose because they a noob will pick them because the way they look. so you think everyone likes kitana and sonya becuase they are easy to play as? people dont follow them because they are easier to be.

He is not saying they like them because they are easy to play as, he is saying that being easy to play as and having a chapter in storymode helps them to have bigger numbers. I think it may be true, but there is no way to actually prove it.

What I don't think is relevant at all is tournament viability, as Kabal was the indisputed best character in the game, yet is still in one of the list for least used characters. The tournament community is so small when compared with the people who bought the game.


I disagree with Sonya being easy to use, she feels really awkward and requires really high execution to use effectively. It's the same with Millena, but the results with Sonya are much more rewarding.
