I'm 50/50. Obviously, I'm excited that there's gonna be not only a new MK, but it will be a "transition" MK, just like MK: Deadly Alliance was, renewing the series and its gameplay in general. On the other hand, the lack of news, the doubts, and the fear that certain characters are gone forever kind of overshadows much of that.
I'm sure excitement will grow not only on my part, but throughout the site once the info starts pouring out .

On the fence at the moment, but then I always love to go buy the next installment.
MkA was a real reinforcement of an offense for me. Like shooting someone and saying "fuck you!" after you do it.
On the other hand, MkdA was a really fresh and interesting "restart" for the franchise. As MkD and MkA came out however, expectations for "improvement" were let downs like no other.
The introduction of mini games killed alot for me. It wasn't like I couldn't appreciate why they were there, it was more along the line of relevance to the core of the game. Which there wasn't any besides it supposedly being some "Extra Fun" with the disc. I think if they would have simply taken what people treasured about a "Tetris"(puzzle) or "Chess"(strategy) or "Racing"(urgency) games, but made it more relevant to the story or characters on the roster, nostalgia could have come from these...oh well.
Again, on the other hand, I really enjoyed the Konquest modes(MkD far more than MkA) and the RpG that was MkSm.
I also like the revamps and costume changes they made for the most part. There wasn't much about the characters themselves I didn't like. And to that I'll even add that I liked the three stance approach that they took.
So, for Mk8, I'm excited to see what they do to "start all over"....BUT, I'm skeptical at the same, time that they might "approach more great ideas"(Konquest mode, KAKharacter, KAFatality, Mini Games, Multiple Fighting Stances, and so on..) and never "Finish Them".
(pun indirectly intended)

im very excited about this game although i was slightly dissapointed with MKA
this game should in theory put MK back where it belongs up top making news about violence in games, with the info i have heard about it benig a new begining in the frachise and the whole new everything going into it this will be very interesting indeed. Edd Boon has said very little about it but what he has said has made me want it now.....new everything gaphics woop woop K on PS3 will be crazzzzzzzzy control system.........ripping cloths sweat broken bones and mike boon has also said that they are doing something so unexpected so that MK brings back the shock value it had all thoughs years ago.
so with all this in mind i am going absolutly ape shit about this game all i need to see is a render maybe of Subby and Scorp then ill b happy till it comes out because i just want to see what the graphics are gonig to look like.
please Edd Boon show me the magic

YEA! RE5 is gonna rip some game ass!
i think MK8 will be the greatest in detail to date, but i dont think and newer game can top deceptions style or the feeling wqe got mk1-mk4
im more interested in what fatalities are going to be like. mk1-3 it was all 2d, mk4 braught the bar way up, mkda-and mkd mildly explored bones and organ meddling, mka wildly explored organs and bones.
i feel mk8 will go into, intestine ripping, brutal things we never saw before in fatalities. to be honest. i want a fighting game so brutal and bloody, i want an Adults Only rationg, but then myps3 wouldnt be of much use would it, i think we need a brutal fighting game, no more simple kidney tickling. thats what mk1 was realized for, nothing has ever been that bloody.
IF they gave out some news of the game, then I would be excited like I was MKA.
Midway is doing great so far, selling alot from the MK games and making alot of money from it, the only problem I see is the game it self.
If Ed Boon got the feedback from fans about MKA, then MK8 will be a great game.
Don't give up all hope on the next MK game, MKA was rushed because of all the characters and other stuff they had to add..

New graphic engine, more dark tone blah blah blah, good things if you ask me,"we’re doing something with the next game that’s unbelievably unexpected, and there’s going to be an announcement. I totally was told, “You cannot talk about this thing.” I think it’s going to be rolled out",words from Boon himself, but i don't hold my breath with that, how many times Boon promised and then never delivered, then he said "wipe the slate clean",another good point,i hope it includes killing a lot of the classic characters, but knowin that a majority of the fans of MK will cry if his favorite character is not in the game,i dont know the real extent of the "killing" most of the classic characters will reach.
so,in a way im excited with this new MK,but given the track record i'll take those promises with a grain of salt.

This is the last mortal i can get excited about.Since it is moving to the net-gen,and Boon is saying they are going back to the roots of mk with a more realistic look i will give them one more shot at getting it right. If they let me down on this next one i will let mk go.

As a long time MK fan, of course im excited for the game. But that doesnt mean i dont have any reservations about it. They have alot of pressure, coming up with a new fighting system is a big chore that they can either hit or miss on. If it sucks the game sucks. Notice how every time they change the fighting system eventually they go back to the Crisp feel of fighting that we have known from mk1-4. It was changed for DA and deception but they brought back the original fighting style of the original mks.
All i ask for are characters that people have been asking for for a looong time, some interesting levels- maybe a few classics. They can keep the kreate-a-fatality in, but atleast give each character one personal fatality as well.
Oh, and Im definately lookin forward to next gen kreate-a-Character. If they are gunna come up with lame new characters like the last few games, id like to atleast be able to create characters that I like.
*Hint, add options like body smoke, or radiating heat, or total body flame, cool stuff like that, I wanna make a REAL smoke character haha.

I'm not excited about MK8 for 2 reasons:
First, we haven't received any real news about it. I gotta see screenshots and read about the features it's going to include or else I don't know what the heck to expect.
Second, because I think the characters will suck. Most new characters have sucked since MK4 and I doubt MK8 will be any different, especially since most characters will be new.
I'm glad that the series is going to start fresh like with the amazing Deadly Alliance but that doesn't promise a Deadly Alliance #2. I gotta see it for myself before I decide how I feel about it.

Aww, come on now, QueenSindel, not all new characters sucked... I did like Shinnok, Quan Chi, Fujin and Shujinko... As for the others, though, they're crap (WTF!? Mokap and Drahmin...? )
I know there will be many new characters..It's obligatory, since this will be a whole new MK... And I hope they will be charming enough for me to like them as I did the old ones.

Let me first say that I am back after a long needed vacation from the internet. Anyway, I am sad to say that I am not looking forward to MK8 since the last three games pretty much spoiled my interest in the series. MKV had some neat graphics but when they loaded all that extra junk in the Krypt that maybe they should have left out, then perhaps they'd have a bit more memory to add things on they wanted. Besides after playing a pretty cool MK4/Gold game where the fights were really fast paced, and then play a new game where it was much slower was a let down. The multiple styles was okay, but one per fighter plus a weapon would have been better. Actually giving fighters their old moves would have been cool too. MKD came out and at least we got our death traps, one extra finisher and a suicide move, but it was also pretty much a let down. It was a tad faster but Konquest was really the only ineresting thing to play here in my opinion. At least the Noob ending was great. MKA was a total let down to me in so many ways I do not even know where to begin. When they advertised every single fighter that had been in a previous game would be in here and Khameleon was left out of the X-Box and PS2 versions, that was the first red flag to me. KAK would have and could have been a lot better. We were missing so many moves, weapons, and clothing options, and not to mention some punctuation marks in the bio of KAK or the ability to creat names like Shang Tsung in the bio screen. KAF was the worst piece of crap out of any MK game I have ever seen. Every fighter has the exact same fatality now. That got boring real quick. Motor Kombat is okay, but it does not stand up to any other racing game before it. Konquest was improved on but now you cannot free roam like before. Finally the worst thing is the programming of the game itself. The collisions in the game are so far off that a punch that doesn't even hit you will actually hit you. Who programmed this thing? One positive thing though for us PS2 premium owners is at least getting UMK3 again. MK8 isn't looking too good for me right now. I believe that the current MK team have finally lost their edge.

You're right. I edited my post.
I also like some of the new characters since MK4. Fujin, Frost, Nitara, Mavado, and Kira are very good, imo.
I happen to like Drahmin. A walking corpse with flies around it is MK in everyway.

I am. I think we all have gotten over how midway screwed up MKA and is just hoping MK8 is the beginning of a new era. A era that'll bring us many many COMPLETE games, im getting sick of these half-done games. MKDA was like 90 percent done,MKD was 85 percent done and MKA was freaking 65 percent done.

Not really exited, the last few games killed that must have feeling for me.
I do visit this site every week though, to check the front page for some news.
I'm curious, just not dieing to play it, because I'm not expecting anything great. The recent titles have felt dated and sloppy. There are much better fighters to play IMO.
Of the last 3, MKA is my favorite to play, MKDA is 2nd. I don't even touch MKD.
I hate the air combos in MKA, well, the way they look and work actually. I liked the 2d style much better.

I wonder what the hell Boon could do with mk8 that would be received as completely unexpected? As many fighting games as there have been what could he possibly do that could shock us.It better not be some kind of bullshit fighting mechanic like running around in First person shooter type of mechanic.I'm a little scared to be honest at that statement. If they go into uncharted territory i think we might get a big mess of a game.I really hope the announcement is character related, and not some kind of hybrid idea.Would you guys except some kind of drastic change in the way fighting games are played?
