Even if they were adding Skarlet or MKA characters, they're still not new so your post makes no sense.

I don't like how they killed a lot of characters which could have been interesting in the future but we still have to see the same shit between Scorpion and Sub Zero.

I like what I've seen from the roster so far. Never been much of a fan of Kano, but his gameplay has me excited as well.

Hm.. i don't know. I think it's to early to judge the roster.
If the roster had this old characters in:
Baraka, Ermac, Reptile, Sektor, Shinnok, Fujin, Havik and Tanja..
...i would be really happy:D

The more I watch gameplay on Youtube as compared to MK9, I can't help but feel that the new characters, stages, etc. feel extremely out of place in MK lore and I don't know why, I can't put my finger on it.
They, the new characters, as much I like them feel more like cartoon characters than MK characters. I mean, we have one that blows freakin bubble gum while doing her fatality. I showed this to my friends at work one day and they were like "Are you serious? Is THIS the next Mortal Kombat!?"...they didn't like it at all, they ain't hardcore fanboys like us but they loved the last game more than I did (honestly, I hated the last game).

A character blowing a bubble and a brute carrying a tiny warrior on his back are somehow cartoony and out of place in a game series that includes:
+ A guy with half his face missing who exists solely to troll the realms.
+ A large number of characters (Raiden, Johnny Cage, etc...) who are tributes to martial arts movie characters and actors.
+ A .jpeg of one of the developers calling out "Toasty" in a falsetto voice in the corner of the screen.
+ Bo Rai Cho.
+ Quan Chi's fatalities.
+ Friendships and Babalities.
+ Mokap.
That's a small sampling of the ridiculous stuff people have come to accept in this series, and the new game seems cartoony to your co-workers?

QFT. Cartoonish absurdity is a cornerstone of what makes MK what it is. I can't imagine anyone who doesn't like that likes the series very much overall. It's been goofy forever.

It's too early to say for me. Some of the new characters look promising, and whilst none of the confirmed characters have greatly excited me (Sub-Zero is one of my favourites, but his inclusion was given), the gameplay I have seen looks fast and fun!
No, I am not disappointed. Even if characters that I personally don't care for get in, I still would not be disappointed. I'll still play those characters, even if only once, and who knows, maybe I'll gain a new appreciation for them.
If the roster is indeed the size of MK9, then I'm certain EVERYONE will find a character or two that they like.

I have no negative comment towards the roster at all. I would love if NRS revealed Cassie's X-ray already! CASSIE CAGE: - X-Ray: Cassie begins by twirling her batons at long range at the opponent, upon connecting she then uses an incendiary device that explodes in the opponents face. She then cartwheels into the opponent and slides down into the splits to perform a crotch punch (modelled testicles/cameltoe for females) - after this she crushes the opponents skull at the temples with the butts of her akimbo pistols before firing off two bullets into their eye sockets, throwing them mid-full screen. Got this from the Mortal Kombat Tether site. Just want to see it in full and in action!

But it's just not getting me hype at all.

You should really look up the sheer amount of stuff fan input has influenced over the ages. Really. We may not decide the direction the series goes in, but they hear and listen to our opinions. They're one of the more open teams out there when it comes to having their ear to the fanbase.
Anyway, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. I hope the next person revealed is a new face.

I recognize the need of debuting characters, but Ferra /Torr while inspired by Master /Blaster from mad max 3 which is one of my favourite movies, feel like a cartoonish duo.
What"s wrong in having characters based on movies?
Absolutely nothing, but taking inspiration from martial arts films is more Mk-ish than drawing characters from post apocalyptic sci-fi ones.
Give me another big trouble in Little China or another Enter the Dragon character and it will be fine, not so sure about different sources.

I like the roster so far, although I don't really care about Raiden being there (but I do understand that is makes sense storywise). Would have also prefered Sub-Zero being a woman this time around (like Frost, but without being Frost because people seem to hate her ).

Probably about two thirds of the roster is yet to be revealed, the only characters revealed (bar Goro) were pretty much guaranteed if you actually thought about it and the new characters are amazing. Plus, we have a stone cold guarantee of a lot more new characters to come.
Some people just ache to be disappointed I think

It's ok so far. Goro was a nice surprise. Now I'm hoping for a few more post MK1 characters and some MK4-MKD characters.

I'm not disappointed at all, just rather antsy; always impatient when it comes to character reveals, but I suppose it's better to get all of the shoe-in characters out of the way earlier on.
I'm still waiting anxiously for a Hotaru, Reiko, Tanya, Havik, Kai, Tremor, Ermac, Smoke, Baraka, Noob, Rain, or Fujin.
Anywho, I think the new characters fit extremely well in the MK-verse.

Goro is a pretty surprise. But, overall, all the "klassiks" are a little bit bland and, take off Kano, obvious. Want some MK2 character

So so. The characters that return were never my cup of tea. on the other hand they look really promising and their looks and gameplay look great. Still tho, how excited can you be about a character that you never really warmed up to?
Anyhow, just one character that I love would be enough to keep me excited.

Kind of agree with you.. However, if we get MK4-MKA kharacters ( very likely) they might not even be shown until the very release.
Plus, if some of them that we really want (Fujin for egg.) is not in the game, he has a chance of being DLC.

The roster is filled with characters I could potentially main, every single one except Cassie Cage. If Goro looks anything close to his render and has fitting variations to his character which are viable in high level play, he will be among my top 3 mains I can tell you. I just need Quan Chi, Shinnok, Shang Tsung, and Shao Kahn as playable characters and I have all I could ever ask for. While the first three have a good chance of making the roster, I am hoping to see Kahn as DLC since Goro made it.
Furthermore, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Mileena, Liu Kang, Reiko, and Fujin are names that have decent chances of making the roster and I am perfectly fine with them as well. Also at least eight more new characters to be introduced for which I am very hyped given what we've seen from the current four. If the roster is anywhere near 70% of what I just described I am a happy, happy man.
The only characters I hope we won't see are the ones that died plus overrated characters liks Frost, Tremor, Tanya, Sonya, Mavado etc.
