So far the only returning characters are all from MK1. We have seen Scorpion,Sub-zero,Raiden,Kano,Cassie Cage that is a mixture of Johnny Cage and Sonya, and Goro that was not playeble in MK1 but now we have him as DLC.Do you think its possible that NRS will return Reptile,Lui Kang or some type of Evil Lui Kang or maybe even Lui Kang and Kitana's sun ,Shang Tsung or Quan Chi that will take his place and with some secret characters. What do you guys think about MK1 Roster + New characters.

It sure seems that way. We'll probably get Reptile since he was in MK1 as well. There's a good chance of Quan Chi and Shinnok being in there too. Maybe see MK2 characters as DLC.

Yes, because MKX will only be MK1 characters and the rest of the roster will be all new ones...

... I really hope not! XD

Not sure, but I wouldn't be against that. The only MK1 characters I have never been a huge fan of are Kano, Johnny and Sonya.

No, they won't be the only returning characters. It seems there is a good chance that all of them will be in it. I think there is a chance that Liu Kang will be the boss, possibly resurrected by Shinnok or Quan Chi. That's what I'm guessing at this point, at least.

I definitely don't think that they will be the only returning characters. I think NRS knows that a lot of fans will be highly disappointed.

I think that NRS is releasing the characters in a sequence. MK4-MK9
I think we'll get a Goro trailer on Mortal Monday. Then Reptile and some one New

The MK2 characters and so on.

The only returning characters? Nah. The select screen looks to have the top row containing returners and the bottom row containing newcomers. Someone tweeted this observation to Ed and he retweeted "Seems about right." I know Boon's a troll, but that doesn't seem like something you'd need to lie about per some kind of NDA or marketing schedule, especially when he stated that this MK contains more new guys than ever.

So, going with that and looking at the current build, we still have 8 returner spots. Let's fill in the rest of the MK 1 cast: Johnny, Sonya, Liu Kang, Reptile, and Shang Tsung. Goro shall be assumed to occupy a separate space reserved for DLC/add-on characters. Assuming the guys I just mentioned are part of the regular roster, that still leaves 3 spaces left.

Not to mention that they'd have to leave out Quan Chi and/or Shinnok for it to be just MK 1 characters. Since their invasion is directly prompted from MK9's ending, that is pretty unlikely.

But given who we already have and who's already pretty much confirmed, I'd say the MK 1 cast would definitely be a majority of the returning characters, no doubt. More than likely not gonna be much of a selection from MK2 onwards outside of DLC. :(

You could argue that Ermac has a chance of returning, considering he was in MK1 as a glitch tongue

I figured this much when they released Kano, that MOST returning characters were going to be the original cast plus a few more, but no many more. I truly think we will only see like six more returning and the rest new or characters in MK mythos, but never playable before

So far from MK1:

- Scorpion
- Sub-Zero
- Raiden
&
- Kano

The only one left from MK1 is Liu Kang... for I'm sure he's unconscious/out cold.

Sonya & Johnny aren't returning now since Cassie is taking over parents' legacy.

What about those from MK2?

- Reptile (I know he's a secret char. in MK1, but I thought I say him in MK2)
- Mileena
- Baraka
- Noob Saibot
- Smoke

Kung Lao, Kitana, Jax & Jade are dead.

Couple things:

- You forgot Goro

- Liu Kang is dead

- Cassie is not replacing Johnny or Sonya

- That's true about Goro. Sorry.

- Guess Liu will have to wait until 11.

- I thought she was.

What about those from MK2 & 3? Will some make a return?

Personally it would not bother me if MK1 characters were the only ones returning but I don't think that is the case. I have had a theory for awhile now that the returning characters might be all MK1 and MK4 characters though.
NRS seems to be revealing the most familiar faces, so right now it seems to be they're getting the MK1 cast out of the way first. Johnny or Reptile could be the next reveal, and I see it happening in a few weeks. I'd rather see a female reveal, i'm still dying to see their new take on a less slutty fighter. So hopefully Mileena will be the first returning female to return.

Yeah I'm kinda worried about the MK4 and after characters. At this point I could even see Shinnok and Quan Chi as just unplayable foot notes in the opening cinematic. Which would be lame as fuck

that would be fine to me! MK1 and MK4 characters...
So.. Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, Kano, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Tanya, Shinnok, Quan chi and Fujin.

I'd be very disappointed if Shinnok were not playable in MKX. He was absolutely the worst boss in the entire series in his MK4 appearance, basically just a cheap rip-off of Shang Tsung that didn't actually morph or have any original moves of his own. His appearance in MKA was a step in the right direction with his own set of original moves, but still left a lot to be desired with the rushed nature of that game. The ending of MK9 was brilliant and left me excited to see what they could do with him in the sequel. Kinda reminded me of the ending of Batman Begins with the Joker reveal (although you didn't get to actually see him). I really hope he's not just a foot note in story mode and NRS decides he's worth the time and effort to make him fully playable.

Couldn't agree more man. I think he has the potential to have an incredible game play design. His overall look is also so bizarrely cool and unique it would be a shame to not have him on the roster. I just think the 25 year jump ahead in the future thing is a red flag and combine that with a ton of new characters (none of which thus far have any connection to the Neather realm) it seems NRS is trying to take the story line in an all new direction. It would be nice if Boon would tuck me in at night and tell me everythings gonna be ok, but until that, *ahem* or until MK4 characters get revealed, i will remain a nervous fanboy sweating bullets in my MK onesies.

I can see all the MK1 characters returning as well as a few from MK4-MKA like Fujin, Kai, Tanya, Kenshi, etc

I highly doubt there will only be MK1 favorites returning

Haha, you and I both. I'm really not worried that I won't absolutely love this game, but Shinnok is the one character I was drooling to see after the MK9 ending. As you said, his look is bizarre and cool and I think he'd look amazing on the new-gen consoles. Being an ex elder god, there's no doubt he'd have amazing moves and abilities and with the 3-variations I can't even comprehend the awesomeness potential. The one thing I did really like about him in MK4 was his fatalities where the giant skeleton hands come through a portal in the ground and kill you in different ways. Something I hope they implement in his move set or fatalities (or both) if he's included.

Im almost 100% positive he'll be in the story mode, at least in the beginning of it. Whether or not they kill him off early is any ones guess, but I can't see him not making an appearance. Here's hoping that his appearance isn't just in story mode, keeping my fingers crossed.

This is why 24 kharacters r not enough. Having a bunch of new kharacters is great but u cant have a 50/50 roster. They should havevat least 28. 12 new n 16 returning

Don't worry, the whole "24 characters" thing is just speculation, not the final roster space. ^^
